Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Ours work for both. Also use for the disembarkation tags….have to do a little trimming to make them shorter, but the work.
  2. I hear you BecciBoo. They don’t make it easy for those flying in. Love the ease of driving down and parking when we do a round trip out of Galveston.
  3. Good info from Sunshine3601. Each terminal will have a pickup/drop off area. Terminal C will be the busiest as it is United’s main terminal. I have seen the desk located in Terminal C baggage claim where you check in for the bus. Have not yet booked; however, will need to for our Radiance cruise towards the end of April. DH calls Royal , gives our booking number and says he wants to add transportation from IAH to Galveston. Should be about $40.00 pp one way. We recently had to use the service from the port back to the airport (had to fly to catch the cruise) as our car was there. We requested to be dropped at Terminal C As the bus approached the airport the driver announced which terminal would be first, etc.
  4. We did a 4 night first part of January and they had all shows….Aqua, Ice and Mama Mia.
  5. Yes, I believe so. Check with Guest Services upon boarding. We booked ours prior but DH says he thinks it is possible.
  6. We had to use the service in Nov since we were on the repo Adventure from Bayonne. At that time it was $40.00 per person
  7. We took the Royal shuttle to IAH following the Adventure reposition from Bayonne to Galveston. This was in November. As I recall the cost was about $40.00 pp. They are full-size busses but I don’t think there are restrooms. Hope this helps.
  8. Yes, it is now free. Just off the Allure and used it. Still no “ping” to alert you to a message….but free is good.
  9. LHARTWICK I am glad to hear about the zig-zag ramps at the new terminal. We were the first arrival on 11/10 and only escalators and elevators were available, that I saw. I made a comment to DH that I couldn’t believe they didn’t have ramps (like in the old terminal). I think Galveston is known for the large number of self-assist. Ramps make it easier, faster and safer (no runaway suit cases tumbling down the escalators).
  10. Sadly I must agree with milamber’s account of disembarkation. This was cruise 37 for us and living in Houston a number have involved Galveston. Was so excited for the new Terminal. I know we were the first arrival (or so we were told) and as such, hiccups are to be expected. HOWEVER, this isn’t Royal’s first rodeo in designing a terminal or disembarking a ship. I shudder to think how things will be for a full Allure arrival. (Guess we’ll find out in January when we sail her) The luggage area and CBP clearance areas seem to be too compact. Trying to funnel 3 lines of people into 1 to go through the bank lines for clearance was frustrating. We were told there was no facial recognition due to: A: it’s not ready yet and B: we were not a closed loop cruise. Outside there needs to be a better way-finding method. I felt sorry for the line management folks walking up and down yelling for people going to Hobby Airport to identify themselves. I guess it’s true what they say ….. sometimes it’s not good to be first! I have high hopes for this new terminal and Royal’s ability to iron out the kinks. I want people to feel good about and be excited to choose Galveston as their cruise port.
