  1. We just spent the night on the Isle of Man. It was very lovely, as we saw the town at night all lite up an quiet. I hated to miss Portrush, but also did not want to tender in dangerous conditions.
  2. Hopefully the seas will be calmer than they were last year. We were not able to make the Portrush stop due to rough seas. It was too dangerous to use the tenders. We sailed on to the Isle of Man for the evening.
  3. Thank you. Several that I have checked have said "no availability". Maybe it is just too early.
  4. Thanks everyone. I will check those out. Jazzbeau, thanks for the food recommendations also.
  5. Thanks to all for your replies. I am not sure about what area. I have heard that the left bank, Latin quarter is good, but am open to any area that is one that other tourist have liked. I am thinking in the $300-$A350 price range. I prefer smaller boutique hotels rather than large ones, but an elevator and air conditioners are a must. .
  6. We will be cruising with Scenic in May 2020 to the Normandy area. Does anyone have recommendations for a hotel in Paris pre-cruise?
  7. I have been on 2 AMA cruises and have used a curling iron. No problem.
  8. Amazing photos!
  9. I too am bothered by seasickness. It really does depend on your location and the weather. Generally, I find that if I put on the wrist bands and eat ginger chews before we sail, I am not bothered. I was bothered in Scotland, but the sea was quite rough. I was not affected in the Greek Islands, Tahiti, (Wind Star and Spirit) or on the Venice to Rome cruise on the Wind Surf. Give Windstar a try and you will probably not go back to a large ship.
  10. We are scheduled for this cruise in Sept., so I can give you a report after we return. We are doing our pre and post extensions on our own. Please report on your Bordeaux trip.
  11. Please report back after your cruise. We are on this cruise in Sept. and would love to hear about the shore excursions you took. Have a wonderful trip.
  12. I would read the "sticky's" at the top. There are comparisons of the cruise lines there. We have sailed on AmaWaterways twice and love the line. I would either do the Danube or the Rhine as a first cruise. Be sure and go a few days early so you can spend some time in the embarkation city on your own if you have time.
  13. AmaWaterways has final payment due 90 days prior. In the past, if you chose to pay in full, they gave you a 5% discount. I am not sure if they still do this. We will be going on our 3rd AmaWaterways river cruise this September.
  14. The Hungarian paprika is much better than what we get here, and you can bring it back.
