  1. Wow Strenz! You make me want to go! I will save your post for future travels. We haven't been recently because it is so difficult to get there and back from the west coast. It is always a pleasure to read your post.
  2. In Budapest, be sure and book an English tour of the Parliament building before you go. Have a great cruise. This was our first river cruise, (on AmaWaterways) and so far, our favorite.
  3. Call them and ask them. We were on AmaWaterways, and they allowed us to just buy the transfer, then we made our own arrangements in Prague.
  4. I third a trip to Ephesus. We booked a tour on our own and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
  5. We stayed at the Kimpton which is not to far from Centraal station. It is a very nice hotel, the staff is very accommodating, it is near the tram stops, or you can walk to many of the sights. I agree, Amsterdam is a beautiful city. Another tip, if you do want to visit the Anne Frank house, you need to get your tickets online 2 months prior to the day you want to visit.
  6. Just one more hour. Very easy to do.
  7. We book our pre and post on our own, as the cost is much less. In Lucerne, we stayed at the Renaissance, and were very pleased. It is about 3 blocks from the train station, so an easy walk, and an easy walk to all the sights in Lucerne.
  8. I agree with Jazzbeau. We have been on 4 Windstar cruises and 3 river cruises on AmaWaterways. I think you would be pleased. They have 3 levels of shore excursions, active, regular and gentle, so you can choose which one fits your style. I would say the cruisers are very similar to Windstar.
  9. KLM is a Delta partner. Your bags will be checked all the way to Basel. Lucky you, that you have never had a layover. Enjoy your trip.
  10. I used Uber with no problem this past September. It was less expensive than a taxi.
  11. Lois, you are retiring in style! Have a great time and I hope we cross paths someday.
  12. Lois, check out Scenic for your Seine trip. We are booked for May and our trip for 2 is less than what you quoted for 1.
  13. We have done both the Rhine, Moselle, (Sept. 2019) and the Danube Budapest to Prague on Ama. We loved them both, so I will probably not be much help. If you do the Rhine, I would encourage you to include the Moselle, which the 2 you have listed do. We loved the small towns on the Moselle. We also loved Amsterdam at the end of the cruise. It is a beautiful city. The Danube was our first river cruise, on a ship that was only a month old, so we were sold on river cruising after that experience. If you choose this itinerary, plan on spending a few days in Budapest. There is so much to see. I would suggest that you look in to doing the pre and post trips on your own, if you feel comfortable with independent travel. You can do this part a lot more economical on your own. I agree with The other Tom, be cognizant of the time you are cruising in regard to water levels. Late May, early June are generally good times in that regard.
  14. I will chime in. We have just returned from an AMA cruise, our third, Basel to Amsterdam, Rhine and the Moselle. You will not be disappointed. The staff is top- notch. They excursions are all included and most of the guides were very good. Our cruise director took very good care of us, especially those that had mobility issues, and he was very entertaining. The food is very good, the fellow passengers are delightful. 3 nights we had local talent that came on board to entertain us. Enjoy your trip.
  15. We were on AmaWaterways, Basel to Amsterdam, Rhine, Moselle trip.
