  1. We've booked tickets independently for our May trip. We would've paid to go through Celebrity but it was sold out simply because the only time left was 1:30, and our ship departs at 4. When I was originally looking at the Celebrity Excursion (which had 1 seat and we need 2) they offered a 1:30 departure (all they had left) also so I thought it'd be a safe bet. I'm starting to worry we won't make it back there in time doing the round trip on the train with no stops. That would've been a very nice feature of paying the extra money to think Celebrity would at least know our whereabouts and perhaps wait for us. We decided to do this cruise pretty last minute so finding things to do has been an adventure to say the least.
  2. Hello everyone. May cruise is coming up soon, and I wanted to find out when would the transfers for embarkation day go on sale? Right now the only thing available is a 3 day city stay. Does this mean it's sold out? Or its just not available for that sailing/destination (LHR to Southampton)? I'll be a solo traveler so I'd rather just do something easy than having to switch trains etc. They have the transfer available for disembarkation. Thanks!!
  3. Do the starting amounts they suggest on that page vary depending on what cabin you’ve already booked? As in, if I have an inside and I want to bid for a sky suite would be more expensive than if I have a veranda and want to bid for a sky suite?
  4. This was the credit I was looking for! That exact ship and sail date. So it showed up on your credit card after the fact? About how much was it to try to help me figure out if its there or not. Thanks!
  5. Hi everyone. Curious if you miss a port stop due to a reason like bad weather/rough seas, will you get the port fees returned to you? Or is it just too bad? Is there any way to know what we as passengers pay to each port? Thanks
  6. Hi everyone. Trying to check in for an upcoming cruise, and I keep getting the message that the Captain's Club number is not associated with the person who is checking in, but it's 100% correct. I've tried taking it out and typing it in myself, and it didn't do any good. My question is, if I remove the number (since it says optional) will I still be able to get my Elite+ benefits without hassle? or is it going to be an issue such that it'd be better to call shoreside to have it resolved?
  7. Hi everyone. First time here. I'm about 89% sure I'm going to be attempting this, but I want to know just how "crazy" my idea is. I live in the USA and am trying to make a long weekend (4 night) cruise from Southampton. My better half is doing several long cruises in Europe back to back, with one little short one in the mix. He's retired, so he has gobs of free time. Sadly, I am not, so every hour of vacation time matters. In an effort to break up his monotony of being alone, I decided I could hop from Orlando (MCO) to LGW for a long weekend cruise. Leave on a Wednesday evening, come back on the following Monday (when the cruise returns). There's a nonstop from Orlando that leaves at 5pm, and lands Thursday morning at 6:45am. From my research, it appears I can hop on a train and be at the Southampton cruise terminal in about 2 hours. And coming home has a 2pm departure that also seems like it would be satisfactory. I had initially considered a later outbound flight but it didn't land until after 10am, and I decided that was just too risky/tight time wise. I'll be traveling light since it's just a weekend trip (carry on only) so that should make things faster as well. My husband thinks I'm a little over-ambitious that I can make all this work. I think he's underestimating my ability to be agile and the excitement that comes with "jetting off to London" for the weekend. He has graciously agreed that an upgraded seat could be considered if that'd make this easier on me. So I come to you, my much more experienced and geographically familiar cruise friends. Am I off my rocker? Can this work? I am also comfortable enough with European travel that if I need to meet the ship at the first port (Amsterdam), I can do that if the cruise line would allow it.
  8. Hi all. Hopefully a simple question- does the PVP get penalized if you cancel? I don't really understand how they get paid, and assuming its a commission type job. I have to cancel some cruises and I feel bad but if they're still getting paid, it'd alleviate some guilt. I don't want to ask her directly...just seems rude. Anybody know?
  9. I think part of the problem too may be the cost Celebrity has to pay for the rights to play the different songs on their ships. If you think about it, the same songs you hear piped in, you'll hear the bands singing. And from ship to ship, the bands sing the same songs. Now some of them are popular, so of course you hear them everywhere (looking at you Beatles) but some others (Joy Crookes, older Dua Lipa) are just not so mainstream that every Celebrity house band is like "Yes! That one!" unless being directed. That could also explain how they can't really read the room...they don't have a catalogue deep enough to make a difference, so they stick to the script. Ever notice how they won't go back and play the whole song at Trivia by the Pool even though the whole crowd is singing along and enjoying it? I have to assume its financial. This is the company who won't give us a chocolate at turndown every night any more...so hard to imagine they're investing in a broad selection of songs that might be played every now and then.
  10. Hello everyone- we recently had to have a points correction completed for Captain's club. When I look at the website, each of the cruises has the appropriate amount, but when you look at the top it has the old total pre-correction. Is this going to cause an issue? Should I call? Anybody else have this issue? After the next cruise, I'll be elite+ but the corrections added over 100 points. I don't want to waste my energy if this is a known bug that doesn't matter. Thank you!
  11. Hello everyone- We just came home from a nice two weeks on the Ascent (despite bringing home a souvenir of "cruise crud"). We never received a copy of our bill via email so I called to get one sent to me. Upon reviewing it, I notice that there's been an extra massage added to my bill. Now we caught this on the last night of the cruise, and we were told it was fixed and all was good. And indeed- you can see where it was on and removed (twice!) and then ended up back on there a third time. Although we disembarked a week ago today I just examined the bill closely today (see cruise crud). What's the best way to go about resolving this? And yes, I agree, I should've been more vigilant about getting a new bill that had all this reflected and lesson learned, but I assumed all was taken care of and going forward I will drag myself down to guest services the last morning no matter what and get a print out from this point forward.
  12. We’re currently on the Ascent for the Christmas sailing. Ship is lovely in all regards except there is a glaring design flaw in the cabins… Those evil couch legs!! You know the ones that are pure metal with no padding or protection for your toes? I had hoped that maybe they would find a way to improve these. My post is half in jest but last month on the Beyond, I managed to break a pinky toe on day 2 of 11. My husband stubbed and sliced open his toe on day 3 on this current cruise on Ascent. Perhaps we’re just incredibly clumsy, but has anyone else found those wicked little legs to be sharp too? I want to start a campaign to wrap the couch legs in pool noodles. I doubt Nate Berkus would approve…until he ran into one of them too.
  13. Hello everyone- Where on the website can I see the shore excursions that I've already booked? I know I can see them on the app, but I'd like to see them on the computer. Thanks.
  14. So I have what I think may be an odd situation. My better half is doing B3B and I'm joining him on the last leg. I'd like to go ahead and check in and get my boarding pass squared away but I don't want to make it such that somehow it will mess him up. The only check in times that are left are much later in the day than when a B2B would do their clearing. Am I okay to fill in his info and just assume the ship will know he's already there once I arrive/start checking in? Will I have issues since I'm missing half of my party? Thanks everyone.
  15. Hi everyone! My spouse is taking his first solo transatlantic cruise soon, and we've done something we don't usually do....we booked the transfer with the cruise line! Since he's by himself, it was financially more sensible to just do the shared thing. He's flying in a day early and staying at the hotel (Crowne Plaza Rome) where the shuttle picks up to keep everything as simple as possible. What I'd like to know is what he should expect and any tips to pass on to him. He used to doing the Caribbean solo but Europe is a different venture for sure! Also, any advice about this hotel? The old reviews seemed great and the newest ones have got me thinking we made a mistake- but its only a night. And we booked the non-refundable so he'll have to make the best of it! He booked this like 10 days ago, and my head has been swimming since trying to get everything coordinated.
  16. Beyond transatlantic departing 10/30. He’s looking for an Aqua balcony. Thank you sooooo much.
  17. Hello all- my husbands calendar cleared up unexpectedly and he’s got an itch to do a transatlantic in a few weeks. Looking at the website, it appears there’s 1 cabin left in the category he’d like…but he’s also a big-ish casino player so he wants to talk to them about switching around reservations to this one. Can you put a temporary hold on a cabin until the morning when he can call blue chip? Is it possible there’s more inventory than what’s currently showing? I can’t find answers anywhere but he’s got me frazzled because he wants this ship!
  18. Hello all- Do any of the ships offer sports betting? Namely football. At one point Carnival had announced they were going to partner with an app to allow sports betting, but it seems like that may have died on the vine. So do any lines offer such a thing? Inquiring minds would love to know. Thanks!
  19. We were on seascape at the end of July and we came home from YC with terrible upper respiratory infections, kept checking for Covid, but never tested positive. However, quite a few others reported in our sailing group on the big social media site that they did test positive on our sailing and even more with the same “cold”we had.
  20. Hi all. Contemplating taking mom on a cruise in a few month, but a health condition makes her sensitive to heat and she has limited mobility. However she loves being outdoors. My solution was to rent a cabana for the week in loft 19 so that she would always have somewhere to go outside when she wanted and not have to walk too far to find it. (Yes, it’s expensive but I’m at the point the money is nowhere near as important as spending quality time with her.) Before I go too much further with my big idea, I wanted to make sure that’s actually an option. Is there a way to check availability? I didn’t see any excel suites for sale but I don’t know that it means anything. Thanks everyone.
  21. I tried using Cisco AnyConnect vpn at the beginning on July on Equinox and had no luck being able to connect using my employer supplied device. My company is very strict and has a lot of features turned off so that could have contributed.
  22. Wow…that seems like a lot of little ones. You mentioned a lot of the seasoned staff are departing or recently departed. Is it going to be a green crew for this herd of passengers?
  23. Question regarding the pergolas. I know some are reserved for the higher suites, but are there any for rent by the day for other YC guests? Hubs is celebrating his 50th on Seascape and would like to do something nice on that day since it’s not a preferred port. How does one go about that if it is an option, and at what cost? Thanks
