The Fleet Report and Daily for Wednesday April 17th, 2024
cruising sister replied to kazu's topic in Holland America Line
Good morning, It looks like another beautiful day with less wind. yesterday’s gusts nearly swept me off my feet. I need to get motivated to unpack the Luggage Forward bags. I shoved them in the office on Friday and I keep forgetting about them. Jacqui I am sorry to hear about your foot. I missed what the problem is but the pain of possibly missing another cruise must be awful. I am off to meet a friend for breakfast. Hopefully I will get down to unpacking when I get home. Prayers for all!- 98 replies

The Fleet Report and Daily for Sunday April 14th, 2024
cruising sister replied to kazu's topic in Holland America Line
Good morning! My re- entry into the real world has been exhausting. I have about half of my luggage unpacked. My luggage forward arrived Friday and I shoved them in the office to deal with next week. The grands were so excited to see me it made me cry. I did get my taxes done and I owe a lot to both state and federal due to my DS estate disbursement. Molly has adjusted to being back with me. It is amazing how fast dogs get back to their routine. I had a great time on the cruise. I enjoyed my CC friends and I am so glad I had someone I knew I could meet before the cruise started. Thanks to Sandy’s Antartica pics I booked an expedition on Silver Seas for the end of December. A quick update on Murphy. She has had one hospitalization since her discharge for extra fluid in her lungs. It was a short stay and she is now on a diuretic. She continues to get stronger but has a long road ahead of her. I will catch up on the daily slowly. Prayers or all in need. Have a great day.- 82 replies

San Diego to Montreal in 134 Days
cruising sister replied to richwmn's topic in Holland America Line
Good afternoon, just add to Rich’s comments. The lectures have been great. The Cruise Director talks have been excellent. The tech guy is hilarious and very helpful. I have never felt like it was a sales pitch. I wish I had started them earlier. I can’t comment on the shows as I have only attended a few. I am sad we are on the way home. It seems real now that we are on the same day. -

Again - Early morning walking Promenade
cruising sister replied to Mary229's topic in Holland America Line
I found out from a mild scolding from a captain that the correct direction is counter clockwise while walking on a ship. Ever since that encounter when I see an errant walker I think to myself you are going to get a talking to. There are no jogging signs on the Volendam due to rooms below it. Unfortunately some choose to ignore that. They sneak and jog early in the morning which only makes it worse. -

Thoughts on Volendam for 45 day cruise
cruising sister replied to redcruzer's topic in Holland America Line
I am on the Volendam now for 94 days. Despite what others have posted she is in good shape. The food is good and the crew is great. She has been and will be in rough seas on this sailing and has handled it like any other ship I have been on. Unless it is an ocean liner any ship will feel the rough seas. -
I am currently on the Grand Australian cruise and have not needed local currency on the islands. They keep telling us we need it and brought people on board to exchange currency but once we got off the ship they wanted US dollars. I would not stress about it.

Good morning from the Volendam. A beautiful sunrise. We had a bit of a scare last night with a fire. The captain said it was either in the stack or a boiler. I guess we will find out today. We have a sea day today and arrive in Suva tomorrow. It has been a fun time.- 84 replies

The Fleet Report and Daily for Tuesday, January 16th, 2024
cruising sister replied to kazu's topic in Holland America Line
Good afternoon from the Volendam, I continue to have a good time on this long voyage. I am enjoying getting to know the dailyites on board. The food has been good and the ship is in good shape for her age. The weather in Kansas City has been awful so it seems it was a good year to leave for 3 months. @ottahand7 I am sorry you are ill. My niece who is an intensive care doc says one of the big illnesses that puts adults and especially seniors on ventilators is RSV. So watch your illness closely. You can get RSV repeatedly so every senior even those with no lung problems should get the vaccine. When I hear people say they don’t need to get it makes me crazy!! Take care and be safe in the storms.- 104 replies

The Fleet Report and Daily for Monday, January 8th, 2024
cruising sister replied to kazu's topic in Holland America Line
Hello from the Volendam, It has been going very well. The food has been good, great lectures and nice people. I have enjoyed meeting the fellow Dailyites. Tomorrow is our first stop in Honolulu. I will celebrate divorce day. Not everyone has a happy and healthy marriage. My first husband was mentally ill and it was a very physical and mentally damaging relationship. It was a great day when that marriage ended. Prayers and well wishes. Have a great day.- 119 replies

The Fleet Report and Daily for Friday, January 5th, 2024
cruising sister replied to kazu's topic in Holland America Line
Good morning from sea, It is 5:57 AM by the ship clock but 8AM my body clock. I try to sleep in but I am having no luck. We had very rough seas the first day. I have no problem but I guess many did as the venues were empty. We had a huge turnout at the M&G. We will have a Daily meet up this afternoon. We had a block party yesterday and everyone was very nice and excited. Everyone is so well traveled I am the novice on my block. My favorite waiter from my Norway trip recognized me and came over and gave me a big hug. I have requested his table for the rest of the trip. I won’t eat until 7 but it will be worth it. We will see what activities they will have today. Many were canceled due to the weather. Everyone have a great day!- 84 replies

Good rainy morning in San Diego, I hope the rain stops before I walk across the street to board. My body is still on CST and I saw the Volendam come in this morning. So many of us are on various cruises to get away from the winter blahs. Prayers and well wishes. Have a great day- 80 replies

Good morning, It looks to be a beautiful morning. There are high surf warnings so I will need to stay out of the water! Haha. Tomorrow morning there will be rain. It may be a soggy walk to the Volendam. At least it is not far. We are planning a walk this morning and explore a bit. Prayers and well wishes. Have a great day.- 84 replies
