Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Can someone clarify? If I am in "The Retreat" on Equinox, is dining at Luminae open seating or is it timed?
  2. Beware -- WiFi is a joke. Even the crew was frustrated. Service was poor in port, near port, in the middle of the Atlantic, in the English Channel, in the North Sea. Sitting near a router did not help. I was not trying to stream content, I just wanted to check email and a couple of websites. Premium package not worth the money. On another topic, elevator maintenance is non-existent.
  3. Sorry to be the naysayer, but I was somewhat disappointed with the QG experience on the QM2. I much prefer the QG on the Queen Elizabeth. The location of the QG on QM2 (deck 7) is not great. Because Deck 7 is the "promenade deck," the windows are not directly overlooking the ocean, but are overlooking the deck and the people walking and running by. I don't want to common folk staring in while I eat. The QG should be in a more private and exclusive location. The QG lounge on QM2 is not great either. Although it is supposed to be restricted, it is wide open to others. Of course, the food is terrific and the staff is top notch. Beef Wellington and Baked Alaska for me!!!
  4. Love your posts. Coming aboard on Sunday in New York. Can't wait!!!!
  5. Yes -- we are all booked in QG/
  6. Good information here. Heading out on QM2 on Sunday. My husband and I are going all the way to Hamburg. My father (traveling as a single) is disembarking in SOU. Cunard will not "link" our reservations because we are on different itineraries. I have called three times about dining in QG and they say it is in the "notes" to put us together at one table. I hope (and assume) that it will be done and that if there is a problem, they will correct the situation. On another note, if you are in QG, do you still need to purchase a drinks package or are certain drinks in the public spaces included with your fare?
  7. I didn't see a place to upload my vax card. Is this still required?
  8. This is just horrible!!!! How dare they ask us to do this!!!! (Sarcasm intended.)
  9. Thank you Jack for the wonderful report. I ship on 3 weeks from today (EB to SOU and on to HAM). I can't wait to get on board.
  10. Just made appointments at Bloom for early June before the June 5th QM2 departure. As a back up, we also may try to get tested at JFK when we arrive in NYC on June 3rd. As a second back up we purchased Ellume home tests, which you can use with the Azova app as a video monitored test. I am all for the extra precautions that Cunard is taking. I fully support wearing masks on board, requiring everyone to be vaxed, maintaining social distances, etc. I know that Cunard must abide by CDC regulations for ships sailing from US ports; however, I find this pre-cruise test requirement to be very stressful.
  11. Read your blog -- loved it. Heading on the EB crossing to SOU and on to HAM on 5 June. Looking forward to it. I just hope COVID doesn't bite me in the rear end,or cause Cunard to alter the QM2 schedule. Looking so forward to being at sea and away from the madness of he World. Are they doing any love Trivia or Bingo?
  12. No worries -- now I just need to learn that Chips = French Fries and Crisps = Chips!!!!
  13. Are you on the 6/5 sailing to SOU? We are too. Arrive in NYC late on 6/3 and will be in the city all day on 6/4. We won't be able to get our Antigen test before leaving SFO, so we need to get tested in NYC. We may do it at JFK immediately upon arrival. Have you made arrangements for a COVID test yet in NYC?
