  1. We used the Celebrity shuttle from the cruise port to FLL which is a little different situation since lots of people are getting off at one time. We waited about 15-20 minutes for the bus to fill up. Most of that time was the driver organizing the luggage. Like others have said, an Uber or taxi would be convenient as long as there are plenty available.
  2. We will be on Freedom of the Seas soon and wondered if the cafe serves Starbucks coffees/teas. If so, would they take Starbucks gift cards? We aren't doing the beverage package so just curious. Thanks.
  3. Here's a map you can try. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/perfect-day-at-cococay-wayfinding-maps.pdf
  4. We are thinking of going out to lunch somewhere in Nassau as we are not interested in spending time on the beach. Possibly going to the Fish Fry area or The Poop Deck. Would like to see a little bit of Nassau and wondered if the taxi driver would do a short tour on our way to or from lunch. Has anybody done that and what was the price? I know we'd need to settle on a price before going...don't want to be taken advantage of. Any recommendations for areas to drive through or is it not worth it? Thank you.
  5. We will be on a 3 night sailing to Coco Cay and Nassau. We may go off the ship for a little while but wondered if there were still a lot of activities/entertainment going on onboard while docked, eg. trivia, game shows, music. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the recommendation. We're looking at their website. One place it shows 45 minutes to 1 hour for the $90 snorkeling tour but then it says "all day". Does that mean the snorkeling portion is about an hour and the rest of the time you are free to enjoy the beach and have lunch? I see an estimated time to pick up from the cruise port but don't see what time you are taken back to the port. It sounds good but am trying to understand the details. Thanks.
  7. We are interested in going to the gardens and wildlife center when we are in Nassau. Unfortunately, we're finding some places, such as the Bahamian Cookin restaurant aren't open on Sundays which is when we will be there. Not really wanting to go to the beach so looking for other suggestions for something to do or somewhere open for lunch on a Sunday? Assume the gardens won't take more than an hour or so.
  8. Are they using the facial recognition when you disembark in Miami? It was nice not having to have your passports out in Fort Lauderdale and it was very quick.
  9. Thank you for the replies. We do plan to get off as soon as we can. Would a taxi or Uber be the quickest? Assuming taxis will already be there waiting? We have TSA precheck so hopefully lines won't be long at the airport. Also, do they do the facial recognition customs clearance in Miami like they do in Fort Lauderdale?
  10. Would it be safe to make a 11:30 AM flight on a Monday morning out of Miami following a cruise? The ship is supposed to get in at around 6 AM and we'd only have carry-on bags so could walk off as soon as the ship is cleared. I know there is always the change of the ship being delayed but in normal situations, I'm thinking it would be ok. Thanks for your input.
  11. I agree, jsglow. Attitude means a lot. I've just read some negative reviews so am taking that into consideration. We've never had a bad cruise...just some are more to our style than others. Thanks.
  12. We are considering doing a short cruise on the Sunshine from Charleston with family (60 year olds and 20 year olds). We cruise about once a year but normally on Celebrity or Princess and are a little hesitant on what it will be like on Carnival. I realize passengers will probably be younger which is fine but is it a big party atmosphere? How is the food, entertainment, and activities? We enjoy comedians, trivia, game shows, and so on. Thanks!
  13. We have status on American Airlines so don't have to pay for bags. There was a line on the form that you put your frequent flyer number if you are exempt from the baggage charge. My parents who were on the same cruise do not have free bags but had paid the fee when they made their reservations. It was pretty simple. We also have Apple air tags and that gives us an extra sense of security when traveling.
  14. We just got back from a Caribbean cruise on the Reflection and there were no Celebrity tote bags in our cabin like we've had in the past. We were in the Concierge class cabin. Maybe another cutback.
  15. Yes. We just used it and it went perfectly. It was nice not having to deal with the checked luggage at the port or airport. Worth the price.
  16. We did a tour and swimming with turtles was one stop on the tour. It wasn’t nearly as good as I expected. It’s a small beach area but very, very rocky. You need water shoes. You just go out a short distance and there’s a man throwing chopped fish in the water to attract the turtles. He takes tips, of course. I saw a couple turtles. Most in our group decided against getting in the water and just looked from the pier.
  17. We stopped at Eagle Beach on our tour and there was a parking area for taxis and tour groups. I think it was by passions bar and restaurant. It was a flat walk to the water but pretty wide sandy beach. It depends on how far she can walk in the sand I guess.
  18. We were in Bonaire this week and the water was very nice for snorkeling and diving.
  19. It’s a pretty easy, flat walk to a few shops at the port and a block or two to some more shops and restaurants. You can also check under the colorful tents with Bonaire Cruisers. They may have some cancellations.
  20. My parents had to cancel their golf cart reservation due to health reasons (back pain) so I'm trying to find a good local restaurant that they might enjoy. They don't mind getting a taxi to go somewhere as that gives them a chance to see the island a little. They aren't beach people but would enjoy a nice view of the water would be a plus. Thanks ahead for any suggestions.
  21. I've talked to the shuttle service for the Hyatt (Avanti Shuttle). For four adults he said it would be $25.
  22. We'll be on the same cruise in January. It looks like the cruise is about at capacity. How was it on your cruise and did it seem crowded? Were you able to go to the shows and activities you wanted to see? Thanks!
  23. You can go on the Celebrity web site and look for onboard credit. You will need to know the reservation number, ship name, and sailing date but you said you knew that. Makes for a great gift!
  24. We've always found that one of the main dining rooms (or a section of the main dining room) is open for lunch every day. We don't enjoy going to the buffet but it hasn't been a problem. You will have to check the hours on your daily agenda.
