  1. Can someone post a link that refers a dui restriction on a non-native US person? I know that Canada has a restriction, but I also know that there is a rehab provision if you pony up the cash to be rehabed. This request is for a US restriction. https://www.estavisaus.org/news/american-visa-criminal-record
  2. Ponant sails to several out of the way places....we saw their ship in Ushuaia in South America. Nice stop. Several lines attempt to stop in Stanley in the Falkland Islands. If the weather cooperates it is a great place to visit, especially if you like penguins. Turns out that there is somewhat of a market in the UK for those sailings for UK folks to visit battlefields from the Falklands War with Argentina. We actually saw the skeleton of a burned out helicopter as we were enroute to one of the many penguin rookeries. I cannot exit without commenting on the expedition sailings available. National Geographic, Lindblad and several others offer sailings for the hardy soul to places that are out of the way/hard to get to. The ferries of the Alaska Marine highway are something that I personally find alluring. Rather spartan but exciting going to tiny places on the map that exist but are rarely if ever seen by the average cruise traveller.
  3. Downtown traffic in Miami is currently horrific, probly moreso at rush hour. There is major hiway construction going on and will not finish for a couple of years. Be prepared for a slow ride.
  4. Avis and Budget are under the same corporate umbrella....like Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. Budget pricing, for some reason, is often more attractive.
  5. The long term parking lot was closed several years ago....I believe it is now being used as a parking lot for airport employees. Anyway, it is closed, I drove past within the last year and there was no entrance for the public. As for your request about parking, this post will likely have several replies suggesting Park n Go which you will have to Google. It is a great place to park, They offer a free shuttle to your embarkation point at the ship you are sailing. We always use it.
  6. We live here and would, without hesitation, take the TriRail commuter train (less than $5). The station is actually right at MIA. Take that to the FLL stop where you will find a free shuttle to the FLL airport....from the FLL airport it is a very short taxi to the Port.
  7. I may be wrong but Rightway parking for Port everglades is advertising for the airport. No mention of cruise parking. Many here use Park n go for PE....great service, their shuttles take you right to your check in location.
  8. No offense, but if you took an Alaska cruise for onboard games and other attractions, you missed a lot. If you sail from Vancouver on a one way cruise there are virtually no sea days.
  9. Adding that the form submission is 60 minutes before sailing and that your competent travel agent can get you on a last minute booking. At times a ship that is partially full will allow onboard bookings, esp if your travel agent is on the same sailing. I have seen it on both Carnival and HAL.
  10. What you may call a bus load is actually about 20 people or less. The shuttles are not large busses but more like a hotel shuttle that you would use from the airport to your hotel. No daisy chain delivery....once you get on a shuttle it is dedicated to taking you directly to your ship. Arriving at your ship where you wait in line to be checked in will take longer than the ride from the parking lot to the checkin site. Note" there are some wild but domesticated monkeys that live in the trees next to the parking lot. Signs that tell you to Don't Feed the Monkees are everywhere. (Florida Wildlife) For us, as we exit the facility, we have received a nice, cold bottle of water. Nice touch.
  11. We did all of that in 2004 on a final sailing out of Dover on the HAL Noordam...it was great....however, anyone planning on the rail trip from Flam should know that bookings fill outrageously fast....make them early, like a year out, maybe more.
  12. We used uber in Brooklyn a few years back....worked well, no hassles. I never keep track of fares, my phone pays the bills....LOL
  13. Ahem...we may have been on that cruise (Nov. 2012) and saw those folks. Mostly they were ignored and the wife was rather miffed! Not to be snarky, but booking a HAL cruise most anywhere....we did South America in 2016, would mean that you could use the bow of the ship...lean over, take photos, take turns with others, Tis windy, but so is the upper viewing areas, as you found out.
  14. Third or fourth for Park n Go...and to add that you have no need to know which Terminal your ship sails from. Their shuttle driver will ask which ship, and then take you directly to it. And they will be there to pick you up when you return.
  15. If one or both couples have a reservation time that is the same, you can enter the Grill at the same time and be seated together.
  16. Book a hotel with an airport shuttle.
  17. I learned over the last 20 years that a passport is a very expensive investment. This because it opens the whole world to exploration by any citizen with the time and/or money. No other form of identification is required unless it would be a Visa to visit the destination. Anymore, when I bring up a destination I get a question from the chief domestic with whom I live. What Question? Does this trip include a rudder? Oh, and the answer best be 'Yes' if I want to succeed.
  18. You can also take the TriRail train It actually has a stop that is much closer to the Airport than Brightline.
  19. The TriRail is good. And there is a free shuttle from the train station to the Airport where you could get a hotel shuttle if yours offers it.
  20. Shipping to your home is still available...IF you opt for the Plus or Premier package. You could also ask your TA or whomever is handling your booking about it. Otherwise, picking your medallion up when you are checking in at the pier is now the standard.
  21. The taxi marshalling location is completely outside of the terminals. We used a taxi back in Dec 23. As I remember,it is located on the Northeast side of the terminal area. Signs are there tho it may take some effort to find and understand them.
  22. Please stop breaking things that are not broken.
  23. Pre covid we sailed on the Royal from Quebec City to Ft Lauderdale, the dining room fare was so bad that we opted to eat in the Lido for several nights. Same old adage, you get what you pay for....and the food ain't it. Service otherwise was great!
  24. Except for England which is not a Schengen country anymore. Brexit took care of that.
