  1. I'm reading these posts on the MDR lunch, guess I'll have to try it, 30+ cruises, never have! I haven't cruised since '19, looking forward to my Oct. Emerald cruise. I'll also be interested to see about boarding times, I've never tried to be early on board. Might be why I haven't done the lunch, too close to when it ends.
  2. Thanks so much, enjoyed your posts! Can't wait for my Oct. cruise, Quebec to Ft. Lauderdale, should be a fun one. I do the NE cruise like going to the Caribbean over and over, 4 or 5th one, I think, TAs, too! I'm on the '25 Fall Emerald, Northern Lights plus TA. See a pattern here? Cold weather type!
  3. I booked Northern Lights/TA for Fall '25 yesterday, plus was $60. It's ok., not higher though.
  4. Looking forward to your "live" thread, I'll be on the Coral for a 23 day cruise in the Spring. I'm really looking forward to it, smaller size, public rooms look good. It actually reminds me of the 1st Royal Princess, I loved that ship, it was special.
  5. This thread makes me wish October would get here quick. I loved the Emerald Princess in '18, many of the things listed above! Early riser, never had to wait for coffee. After a few visits, they would see me coming and ask if I wanted the usual! At lunch I had the tomato and mozzarella flatbread toasted. On board for 30 days, never went to the buffet, had enough to eat at the IC for breakfast/lunch.
  6. I think E409 is a great choice! The forward ones with the larger balcony have a solid wall, plus are over the theater.
  7. Reading posts here about the pvp's/princess, I'd stick with a TA. I've used the same one for years will not switch.
  8. Interesting read, 2 things I avoid on a cruise, buffet area and elevators. I've been on board 30 days, never once to the buffet, a few times in an elevator. Just my personal choice, I'm older but I can use the stairs.
  9. Your Coral Princess says it all for me! Can't wait for my Spring 23 day FLL to Vancouver on the Coral. Looking at the deck plans of the 2 ships, wasn't a hard decision, don't care to try the Island. I snagged one of those deck 6 cabins by the casino with the big windows!
  10. Sailing solo, I usually have inside cabins. Since Covid, possibility of being cabin bound, I like the idea of daylight. I'm not bidding for my Oct. Emerald NE repositioning cruise, 14 days because of location. I have an obstructed view on Emerald, midship. I don't want to be higher up, near the front or rear of the ship. I'm basically on decks 5, 6, 7, don't use the buffet, don't think I'll be in the pool so why risk it?
  11. I would take it in a heartbeat, I sail solo, too and few times I've had a balcony didn't use it that much. Emerald is on the NE route, to me that plays into balcony usage. I'm retired though so time isn't an issue, flights could be as I'm 2 hrs. from airports.
  12. Not a fan of buffets but they are a cruise ship staple. I rarely go to the buffet anymore, not something I need to do. I'm on the Emerald in Oct., if they've cut back on IC offerings I might try the buffet. Normally IC for breakfast and lunch is enough, don't require much.
  13. I read an article today about the Sun and the Park 19 issues. I had no idea because being older, cruising alone, size of the ship, did not pay attention to deck plan or amenities. Clueless they were trying to compete with Carnival, NCL, RCI, on turning the ship into an amusement park.
  14. Just changed my Majestic 2026 Spring TA + Brit to a Regal Fall 2025 Brit + TA, 31 days. Decided to check app on my phone, was able to book dining 5 p.m. all days in the Symphony. Mentioning this for AZ, she is keeping a great list. I have dining set for 3 cruises, Emerald Oct. New England, Spring 2025 Coral 23 days, FLL to Vancouver. This is good for me because I miss the days of telling my TA, early dining and be done with it.
  15. I've never arrived before noon, never understand it. Thirty-some cruises and always feel what's the rush? People seem stressed about it, I don't get the urgency.
  16. You'll be fine, I think. Traveling alone it took me awhile to go on Regal, Royal, once I did I love that class. Looking at the deck plans, I might try the Sun, if I'm still cruising in 2027, maybe for my 80th BD!
  17. Sounds great, good for you! I'm on the Coral for 23 days April '25. I'm so looking forward to the Coral! As much as I like the Royal class ships, the Coral looks great! I can do smaller as well as larger, I'll probably skip the Sun though.
  18. I've ordered my medallion for port pickup, October cruise. Everything is green, except the medallion, which is, I'm assuming, because I did port pick up that puts me in blue lane? I haven't cruised since 2019, so it will be interesting for me. Traveling alone, I'm never in a rush to get on the ship, cruising is about relaxing for me. I smile when I see all the comments about how long this or that takes.
  19. Glad to read about the Majestic changes, I'll be taking the '26 TA + Brit Isles cruise from Ft. L. 51 days sounds great! Longest I've done is 30, still thinking about some of the world cruise segments.
  20. Wow! Didn't realize this and it sounds so wrong. I've been sailing alone, most of my cruises, since 1982. This is mind boggling to me and single traveling is something I've been talking about forever. Years ago I had a few letters published in travel magazines, didn't help the overall picture just gave me a chance to vent!
  21. I sail single, just tried that cruise, E405 is available and I would have been able to book it. I wouldn't call Princess, do an online booking or contact a travel agent (which is what I always do).
  22. As others have said, a matter of checking often, I use EZ air because I'm 2 hrs. from Des Moines or Minneapolis and Midwest weather is tricky. Also don't usually fly unless I'm cruising. I just saved several hundred because Delta changed my flights Quebec/FLL cruise, October. I changed to American, get better connection times and same terminal rather than long walks. Couldn't believe price difference.
  23. I find this site useful for traveling, forecasts, much info, including weather: https://www.timeanddate.com/
  24. I've been to Iceland on TA cruise and well worth visiting. I've also done a fjord cruise from Southampton and would not do just 7 days. If you're going that far, wanting to see the coast of Norway (plus Iceland) go for the 14 by all means. I did it in October, 12 days (no Iceland) and it was spectacular.
  25. I booked my traditional dining for my April Coral cruise, same time, 5 p.m., shared table, 23 days. Small ship, two dining rooms didn't want to wait.
