Thanks Keith, will do.
Now I just thought of something else--How about getting from the cruise terminal to LAX when we finish the cruise. How does that work when you don't know for sure what time you will get off the ship?
Thanks,
Burtie

Hi,
Any ideas on transporting 4 adults and all their luggage from LAX to the Queen Mary? Maybe someone with a van that we could reserve ahead of time?
Thanks,

Hi,
The ships have self service laundry facilities you can use so you don't have to do it "by hand". I would just wash a load and take back to room and hang it up to dry. In the shower there is usually a cloths line you can use to hang the cloths on. In my experience, it seems to take an extremely long time for it to dry in the cabin.
Good luck and have a great cruise.

Sorry to here about your wife's injury. I know from experience it is painful and not much fun. Definitely call Carnival and let them know and see if you can move to a handicap state room. It will be much easier for you and your wife. I tore mine about a month and a half before a 12 day cruise to Hawaii and took my wheel chair and my crutches. All of the ships staff were very helpful, especially at the buffets and getting off and on the ship at ports. Tell your wife not to let it ruin her trip. She will have a great time with just a little discomfort.
Have Fun,

First--Total cost, including transportation to and from port and cruise cost. We live within 5 hours of Seattle and 7 hours of Vancouver BC so it is usually much less expensive to drive and park than it is to fly someplace.
Second--Itinerary.
Third--Length of cruise
Our favorite cruise was a B2B out of Vancouver BC to Anchorage Alaska for a total of 14 days on Princes a couple of years ago. Total cost was less than $1300 for the 2 of us in an ocean view state room. Cost included hotel for 1 night (which included parking for 14 days), cruise, and cost to drive to Vancouver. This was three years ago and have never been able to match the price again.

Thru PL you do not get to choose the type of room. They will give you a room for two people, usually the facilities lowest rate type room. BUT, once your bid is accepted you will get the information on which hotel you got and then I usually sent them a request for whatever it is I want--king bed, two queens, ocean/river view, etc. They will not guaranty your special request, but it has been my experience that if whatever you request is available they will give it to you, sometimes maybe with an additional up charge.
Don't forget, there are no refunds on any PL accepted bids.
Good luck,

Does anyone have a recent set of the daily activities on the 7day Mexico cruise that they can share?
Do they offer skeet shooting on the sea days?
Thanks,

I use Priceline (bidding for rooms) quite often and have always had good luck. As was said previously, occasionally the Priceline Star levels might not be what you would expect. I always go with the 3 star and better and have never had a problem. The suggestion to get a room that you can cancel is a good one. That way, if you are successful in bidding on one on Priceline, you will be able to cancel the original without a charge.
I would suggest that prior to bidding you look through the Priceline site for the Hotels they have in their system, their locations, their star level assigned by Priceline, and the standard Priceline rate available. I assume you know that when you bid on Priceline, you can choose the star level and the area, but not the specific hotels.
I usually try to start bidding about 30 days prior to my planned date and start out with a lower price (about 40% of Pricelines rac rate). If your bid is not accepted, you need to wait 24 hours and then can bid again. I normally increase my bid by $1 each day.
The more you use Priceline, the more comfortable you will get with it.
Let me know if you have any more questions and I will try to answer them.
Good Bidding,

We have been on about 20 cruises (with HAL, Carnival, Princess, RC, and Norweigan) and have always done the guaranty. We may have been lucky, but have never had a bad assigned state room.
Have a great trip!!

Good morning. Thanks for the info. I am currently in the town of Chelan in a condo on the lake. It is very smokey here, but no fires directly in the town. Looks to me like everything is to the west on the east side of the Cascades and the worst appears to be to the north. For those who might be traveling from the north to Seattle, be aware of several road closures in the northern area. Check with the Wa State DOT for current info.
If you are heading out for a cruise, have a great time.

Thanks for the review. I think you are very lucky to be so close to NOLA. It is one of my favorite places to visit. Have been on a couple of cruises out of there and loved them and the 3 day stays after the cruise. Can't afford the air fare anymore so have been going out of Seattle the last couple of years.
Keep cruising and enjoy life!!!

Where to Stay in Long Beach?

Recently stayed at the Queen Mary on a Friday night. Room rate was about $140 and increased to $180 with all the taxes added. If you try to book directly with them, on Fri and Sat nights they have a 2 night minimum. I went thru Priceline and was able to book for just one night. We thought it was well worth the $ and spent about 5 hours just looking around the ship.
Good Luck!
