  1. Loved “coming along” on this cruise adventure. Looking forward to following along on the next one. Thanks so much.
  2. Good news, Lois! I had that happen once and the nurse had to call a tech who had no problem. Later that day I noticed a really large bruise where the nurse had made her attempts. Nothing at the spot the tech used. Sounds like your tree is becoming a full time job, Kat. We are hopefully making progress toward removal of the dead tree. The utility company came out to mark where the lines are which included putting yellow flags in the ground and spray paint on the sidewalk. Wonder if the flags will last until the city makes a return visit. Expecting nice weather over the weekend. Can’t believe that Memorial Day is just a few days away.
  3. I can emphasize with those of you who have dealt with or are dealing with problem trees. Here is my story. About a year before Covid hit the tree in our parking strip died. Now parking straps are city owned as are the trees in them. We called the city and we were told they would be out in a few months to look at it and remove it. Never happened and then Covid hit and everything shut down. Time passed and we made another call. This time we were told that the arborist had to look at it first. However since everyone was working from home nobody could come out. Now how does the arborist work from home and why can’t this employee work outside safely? No answer to that question. Finally called the city counsel person for our district. He promised to look into it. Another year passes and another call to the city. Now the excuse was that the crews were way behind because everyone had just returned from working at home. The tree is small and dead! Our gardener said he would take it out for us but since it is a city owned tree we needed a permit that would cost us $225! So another call to the city council person although I don’t know why because it did not do any good the first time. Called anyway and we were put on a list with other residents who had similar problems. More time passed and today I saw a city truck parked in front and an employee marking the surrounding grass area with spray paint. I really thought the tree was finally leaving the neighborhood! Nope, how someone else has to come out and make sure there are no utility lines/pipes near the tree. Employee claimed “it’s a process” and it will be another 2 weeks before he can take the tree out! I won’t hold my breath! That tree is small and we thought it might just fall over during all the rain but no ,that didn’t Happen. So there is my tree tale. Good luck with yours! OOTD something cool, it’s 95 today! Oh and not much make up either,
  4. Looking forward to another one if your “live from” threads and will enjoy watching you and your mom making amazing memories. As the mother of adult children, there is noting better than sharing adventures with my children. Happy travels!
  5. Lois, thanks for your concern about flooding. Fortunately, we are not in any danger where we live. Still a scary situation for many who are. Great that you are going to volunteer at the hospital. Sounds like lots of preparation which, as you said, is probably because it’s a hospital. Kat, congrats on the weight loss and I laughed when you said that you don’t want to loose any more weight. Most of us will never be able to say that! Another opportunity to attend a Bocelli concert-lucky you! I am still waiting for my first opportunity. Melody, love your new “do” and I bet it will be great in the summer heat as well as easy to care for. I second Lois’s suggestions, Melissa. They Well,, guess what, we got a call early this morning with a recording telling us that we have won the Publisher’s Clearing House grand prize! The recording included a confirmation number and a phone number to call to arrange for delivery. Now this may have been good news IF we had actually entered this contest…… 🤣 Have a great day all!
  6. Well, the heat has arrived here in central CA and with it flood warnings as the snow in the mountains melts and the rivers are now flooding. Yosemite has closed 3 campgrounds leaving visitors scrambling for an alternative. Many residents now worried about flooding even though there has been a lot of preparation, it really isn’t known just how much water will make its way into the valley. We are not affected but so many are including those who look forward to using the rivers and lakes for water recreation. Much is now off limits because just too dangerous. Looks like several land and sea vacations are planned. The travel season for so many has begun! Take care all.
  7. 300 pages-that calls for a round of applause.👏👏👏 First for Kat who started this thread and then for all those who have contributed. Shall we have a virtual toast as we begin working on the next 300?🥂 How about another virtual toast to celebrate Cynthia’s retirement 🥂-many happy days ahead! As for land trips, we have one in the works for the end of Aug and into Sept. Details in progress. Love your dress, Melody. BTW how is your foot doing?
  8. Thanks for taking us along, Kat. Great pictures! Happy to read that relaxing was a success. Only caught a bit of the coronation festivities. I did see the crowning but little else. Also heard that there was a smaller balcony group-just the working members of the family.
  9. Amazing pictures, Kat. Especially liked the bears and that one in a tsyher revealing pose-what can I say🙀
  10. Welcome home, Cynthia! I enjoyed all the pics that you posted. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. Kat, hoping you see this before sailing. Wishing you many exciting adventures. Lois, I believe that doctors who are contracted with Medicare and most are, can’t balance bill unless they have informed you ahead of time and you agree. I also believe that includes other medical providers. If that isn’t correct, perhaps another poster will comment or you could check with the Medicare. Good luck! Spring here is quickly turning into summer and I’m determined to get going on projects that have been on the list for a long. Getting estimates on some new window coverings, working on the yard and patio, still working on clearing out old files and that is now urgent as there is a free shred day in 3 weeks. And so it goes! Wishing all a good week end. Sharon
  11. Good news Lois, about your disposal. Even better news about the possibility of a Panama Canal cruise. We did one a few years ago. It was 19 days-Fort Lauder dale to San Diego. Loved it. Sorry about your laptop, Kat. Yes I’ve used google many times-usually pretty helpful and not just for techie stuff. When so you leave? Today is fairly warm so blue ankle pants with gray tee. Take care all, Sharon
  12. Purple, looks like you really enjoyed your birthday cruise. I hope your DH can work out his surgery plan so he can enjoy your daughter’s wedding. I see that there were still a few cherry blossoms left in one if your ports, Cynthia. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Good luck with your MacBook, Kat! I had an issue with my router. It kept asking for the password with some of my devices. However it said the password was incorrect. Was concerned that someone had hacked into it and changed the password. Couldn’t sign into the ap because my phone was not using my router so wasn’t recognized. Finally just unplugged the router and all was ok when I plugged it in.🤷‍♀️ Good thing because I had no idea what else to try. Hope your fix is as easy. As for trying to remember how to fix these things, I kave to keep notes on my printer fixes. It does crazy things from time to time😵‍💫 Weather warming up and that is causing flooding concern as the snow pack melts. The rivers are running very full and all recreational use is prohibited. Can’t remember it ever being like this in all the years we’ve lived here. wising all a good week ahead. Sharon
  13. Welcome home , Lois! Your August cruise sounds like one I would like to do. Sorry about your disposal situation. Janet mentioned a tool that worked for hers. Our disposal came with a tool to use. Not sure it’s the same one but I think it’s used to us jam the unit. We’ve never had to use it so I don’t know just how it works. Maybe the owner’s’ manual would have info? Some units also have a reset button on the unit itself. Hoping yours can be fixed and doesn’t need replacing. Good luck!
  14. Cynthia, what a charming village! I can see why you wanted to visit. Nice that the weather cooperated. You are so right, Melody, about sizing for women’s clothing. Certainly makes it hard to order online. I’ve had sizing vary even if I am trying on the same item but in a different color. BTW hope your skin biopsies came out ok. You really scored, Kat! Kinda’ makes up for some of the frustration you had over other guests’ behavior. Does your owner live in Italy or are these 2 condos vaca homes?
  15. Looks like I’m once again “late to the party” but happy to be following along on another one of your adventures. Thanks for taking the time to share it all with us.
  16. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Wishing you happy future travels. Hoping you will share your mother-daughter cruise. My travels with my adult children are my best memories. In fact our last cruise was Norwegian Fjords. Absolutely amazing!
  17. I agree with Cynthia on both. Since the Moab is “all day” comfort, definitely that one. I really like the colors in the Chameleon . Great yard sale acquisitions. Job perks….yes! Oh and sorry about the snow in UT and CO. The Weather has been ridiculous this year.
  18. Love the outfit, Melody, That blue is so you! I also like that shade/color of blue. Yay on the good foot healing progress! Determination paying off. Yep, those short ribs appear a a choice in domestic First also and are popular. Not always one of the choices unfortunately. What a mess at FLL-wonder how many flying in ahead of a cruise are impacted. OOTD finally!-weather warm enough to pull out some lighter weight tops. Haven’t decided yet which one I’ll wear. Need a sort of transitional weight-temps in the low 70’s. Have a nice week end everyone and Kat, enjoy your last few work days.
  19. Hi Everyone, it’s been a busy several days here so not a lot if time to check in. Hope everyone is doing well. Cynthia and Lois, happy to know that you are enjoying yourselves. Weather seems to be a challenge for most of us these days which can certainly impact travels. Hope all on cruises have good weather going forward. Enjoying the pictures, Cynthia. BTW I wonder if cruisers who purchased the high priced tours to Kyoto know that there are express trains that go from Osaka to Kyoto at a reasonable cost🤷‍♀️. Lois, I’m surprised that you didn’t receive an email from Delta with meal choices and the option to order ahead so your first choice is available. Maybe your TA didn’t give Delta your email? I haven’t seen a way to order thru the the app or web site. Kat, nice parting gifts. Won’t be long now until you too will be cruising. Your clothing options should work well for Alaska. Did you find a new rain jacket-aka birthday gift? Happy belated birthday wishes! Melody, how is your foot doing? Are you still going to PT? Sherri, good to hear from you. I hope that the terrible fire in northern Indiana isn’t impacting your family. Congratulations , Melissa, on your new grandson. What a joy! Take care all
  20. Good morning. Finally starting to warm up a bit here and should be really nice for Easter. Meeting DD for brunch outdoors. Gosh, Melody, it doesn’t sound like an outdoor eggs hunt will be happening where you live🥲. Lois, you are so right, everyone packs differently and I didn’t mean to be critical. I was really just explaining why it takes me longer to pack. Traveling with a roll aboard began when we first started flying stand by. We quickly learned that checking a bag complicated our ability to make last minute flight changes when necessary. So I guess you could say I do it out of necessity. I’m so used to it that even when we purchase tickets we use our roll aboards . Only difference is that we often check them. Hoping the weather doesn’t impact your tours. Sounds like you plan to layer as needed.
  21. Thanks for explaining the volcanic ash use, Cynthia. I totally get the “behind” thing, especially when depending on free Wi-Fi. I’m enjoying all you have shared with us so far. Purple, wising your DH good results with the meds and that both if you have an amazing cruise. Lois, I’m sure you have cruise packing down to a science if you can do it all in a two days. It takes me longer but not the clothes part just all the other stuff I always pack. It’s been years since I have traveled with more than a 21 inch roll aboard and a personal item and I seem to take time making sure everything fits in those 2 bags. As for the scarf question, you didn’t say if you are thinking “accessory” or that your concern is walking around in a Muslim country where women cover their heads. As Kat said, you might pack one just in case. I too have a few Baggallini bags and love them. You really scored! Maybe I’ll stop by Ross and see what they have. I’m not much of a hat person because I always think the look much better on others than on me. I see others wearing hats as fashion accessories and if I were you and had a selection of hats I liked I would certainly pack a few. Sorry I can’t help you choose but maybe it will come together when you lay out the clothes you will take? Again, Bon Viaggio (a nod to my Italian heritage) to all the soon to be cruisers! Sharon
