Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. This was a huge debate this past week with my husband who didn't want to wear pants in the 100 degree heat but doesn't have shorts that cover his knees. He wore the pants, but continued to point out just how many men were in shorts that didn't cover their knees and "they were not being turned away". I agree with the "respect the rules" part of things but if a venue is going to relax the rules due to the extreme heat, then that should be posted or at the very least, followed consistently.
  2. Another satisfied customer here! We used Rome Cabs for a transfer from Civitavecchia to our Rome hotel post cruise and then from the hotel to FCO. Both transfers were comfortable, on-time, and without issue. Highly recommend them!
  3. We just returned yesterday from our first trip to Rome and a Greek Isle cruise. I had the same dress code questions and was surprised that overall while we were all trying to beat the heat and humidity, people did tend to dress "nicer". We chose to eat at the more casual to mid-scale dining venues with outdoor seating in Rome. My husband wore dress shorts and collared short sleeve shirts for the apertivo and dinner. I chose maxi dresses/sun dresses or shorts (mid-thigh length) and blouses. I admit that it was nice to see people in other clothes besides athletic shorts and graphic t-shirts that seem to have become the norm here in the states.
  4. Little Britain, THANK YOU THANK YOU for replying! This has eased my stress so much regarding our private tour guide.
  5. Thank you, little britain! Is ship time the same as on land??
  6. We've booked with Mykonos Sailing for our day on July 20. They have been very attentive and responsive to my emails. I'm happy to post when we return if that will help for your sail date.
  7. Thank you for posting! Can you tell me is ship time the same as on land? Trying to coordinate with our guide. Thank you again!
  8. Definitely curious about this and also about whether or not ship time is the same as in port. Will be awaiting your report, little britain!
  9. 32cute2me, Thanks, I'll check them out! If you think of it when you return, let me know if you enjoyed it!! Have a great trip!
  10. Hello, We are visiting Mykonos on Wednesday, July 20 on RCCL Odyssey of the Seas from 7am-10pm. We are hoping to set up a private of small group shared sailboat or motorboat charter for a few hours. I've searched but seem to be coming up empty for vendors. Anyone have experience doing this for an afternoon or morning sail?
  11. Thanks to everyone!! So far good to know that I won't need to plan on 1 of my dining package dinners if it is open.
  12. Hello, We will need to be tested in Rome for boarding. I have read many notes on the Rome port forum here and Trip Advisor about the hotel's concierge helping the cruisers to find testing sites and set up appointments. Doesn't sound too difficult or expensive. Hopefully things will change for us by July.
  13. Hello! I apologize upfront for my question, but my searches have left me without an answer. ☺️ We are sailing from Rome in July on the Odyssey. Is the Solarium Bistro complimentary or is there a charge to eat there like Chop's or Giovanni's Table? The app says al a carte but has no menu to view. Trying to plan dining for the 6nights. Thanks in advance! ☺️
  14. Hello! We are cruising on Odyssey of the Seas and trying to schedule a local driver. Does anyone know if ship time is local time in Santorini in July? Trying to be ahead of this as we ran into an issue in Progreso, MX in March when the guide told me the times were the same but was incorrect. Thanks in advance!!
  15. Hello! I posted this in the Greece Ports board but thought I'd try here as well... First timer to the Greek Islands so I feel completely clueless! We will be on Santorini on July 19, Tuesday until 10pm on the Odyssey. This day is my husband's actual birthdate. I'm looking for a restaurant in Fira (since this is where we will have to be to get back to the ship) for a birthday dinner before we go back to the ship. View is most important followed by food and atmosphere. Does anyone know what time is all aboard when the ship leaves this late? Curious as to how long I should allow for dinner, what time to make reservation, etc. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
