  1. So, would this eliminate a GTY from participating in the MoveUp program? I guess it would depend on timing?
  2. As far as eating in the OVC, go when it first opens and have a much better selection of seats, not to mention food presentation and less crowds. There are strategies for everything, as ships cater to the masses...
  3. Those big busses scare me🫁, so I do not ride them. The kids at school keep me full of stuff, not to mention make sure I get a dose of whatever is going around at the moment. I also live in a “high desert,” one of the worst culprits for sinuses, so I use an irrigator by NeilMed. As we all age, our immune systems change, so washing hands and covering mouths is one way to help keep us well. It is just unfortunate that many do not bother to do this on a regular basis. immunosenescence - the gradual decrease in immune function that comes with age.
  4. I think we all need to wait for postings from actual cruisers, but then again, it is always different depending how each ship implements each “new” service. 🤷‍♀️
  5. We have been to all of these ports except Funchal; the people were very welcoming!
  6. I wouldn’t put away the sunscreen, but definitely prepare for cooler weather. I have only been there in early October, so cannot comment on your exact time period. Only Mother Nature knows for sure. Weather is so hard to predict, but you can Google the average temps for information.
  7. Just RS and above, so same as before.
  8. I will be “onboard” with this when I truly experience all of it, plus my lounger. This is a wait and see for me due to pricing: however, I am glad Celebrity is listening, yet nothing really that new, but bringing back what we had, IMHO. I hope the crew are alerted to this; honestly, I do not know how they keep up with the continual changes!
  9. This is so true! I keep reading on social media sites about how marvelous Celebrity is from first-timers, the ones who are out and about until all hours. The stock price indicates this too!
  10. I have been told that it can, but most likely depends on the individual you speak with about this.
  11. Once you have a guarantee, you cannot pay extra to upgrade either if your cabin has not been assigned. This has happened to me. Now, I am wondering about MoveUp: however, my price was very good.🤷‍♀️ I usually book suites when the cruise is first open for booking, so this is all new to me. It is difficult to play the game without the rules. We are elite+, so bringing water onboard, as we drink very little alcohol.
  12. Maybe you are giving Celebrity too much credit? Maybe not, jelayne, but I will be implementing plan A, B and then C if necessary.🤷‍♀️
  13. Unfortunately, communication is not one of Celebrity’s strong points, not to mention all the outsourcing, newbies and incorrect information.
  14. Don’t forget the fjords in South Island, NZ!
  15. Ascent is like Beyond. We had an SV and Sunset Suite where both balconies were wonderful. In fact, I have never had a bad or noisy aft cabin/suite. The photo is of our aft SV cabin. We had two loungers and 2 chairs, but loungers are not guaranteed. We actually moved one chair inside. This was a center cabin on deck 11 for reference. We also had an SV next to a suite with plenty of room and enjoyed the connecting hallway with the suite.
  16. Exactly! The magic carpet is the lounger. You are totally correct!
  17. My favorite story was from a 90 year old British gentleman. He was a contractor/builder who had stories to tell about working with the Queen. His personality was full of life. We ate with him several times over the duration of the cruse. One time we were walking back to the elevators when he decided to put his cane in the door to keep it from closing. Well, his significant other told him that he was an idiot for doing that. I tried to get his cane out of the doors, almost falling. When we finally got in the elevator, he loudly said “I’m an idiot,” making those inside wonder why he said that. Then we all laughed and laughed. It was one of those you just had to be there moments!
  18. Age: There are old people and then there are “old" people. Age is just a number, but some of us never want to grow up and become “old,” although we know it will eventually happen. It takes a lot of work to stay healthy, alert and full of energy, not to mention finding friends who are like-minded. Yes, we all have challenges, but many of us try to take these in stride. None of us is getting out of here alive, so we all just need to make the best of it and be kind. After all, life is short and we have worked hard to cruise. ☺️ My 98 year old aunt always ate her dessert first! She said it made the rest of her meal eatable...
  19. How do you get your painting home? We are on a spring TA next year and I would like to take a painting class, but we are also spending time in Portugal too. Anyway, thanks for your response in advance!
  20. I am definitely going to ask for one on my PH; we are crossing the Atlantic and I love being on the balcony! For me personally, this is something that I can’t do without, especially on a longer cruise.
  21. My DH and I have often said that we should get as many chairs as possible, holding those for people who actually want a chair to enjoy. Maybe just a different twist, as to what is happening. Would chair-hogs then turn one us? Probably not because they would not even be there🤷‍♀️.
  22. Thanks for your photography and commentary, as Beyond is a gorgeous ship with a wonderful crew, but was removed from European itineraries. I hope that Ascent is just as fantastic for its fall TA from Barcelona to FLL.
  23. I don’t think this is about chair configuration, but the lack of loungers and footstools for those of us who feel it is an important aspect of why we cruise. However, I understand from your previous comments how you personally feel, so these items are not an important part of your cruising experience. My DH will not cruise on any ship that doesn’t have a gym, so that is a biggie for me when booking. As long as he can have that available, he is a happy camper. Take that away and I will dearly pay🥵. I respect the right of each one of us when it comes to the things that are important when cruising. If you happen to get a footstool or a lounger, I am sure you would be happy to share.😍 I also respect your comments about being grateful you are not like those of us who contribute more or less on this forum because that is an important choice. There are lots of people who love the read only perspective. Furthermore, I am grateful that people speak up and share their concerns, not to mention feel that Cruise Critic is a forum for constructive criticism too! I apologize for rambling on and on...
  24. If we all just go with the flow, I seriously wonder what Celebrity would do if there wasn’t any negative feedback on anything? Of course, this is not going to happen, but there are important items to those of us who cruise a lot and spend $$$$+ too. Thankfully we all have the element of choice...going with the flow is definitely an option, especially if loungers and footstools don’t matter to you at all, but take away something important to you might make a difference. Yes, I do go with the flow on many things, but not everything on Celebrity, the stock market or my health...let’s just say I am pro-active! 🔺So many of you made great points!
  25. I just read this as “Geek Men.” What is wrong with me? Please do not answer that question!
