Another Option for Mississippi River Cruises
Tom47 replied to Host Jazzbeau's topic in American Queen Voyages
We did it last Sept and found the food to be very good, except for 1 meal, where the lamb was terrible. The waiter offered me lobster tail, which I accepted. It was delicious. -

We were on an ACL Columbia river cruise in 2022 and found the food very good. Pearl Seas is owned by ACL and they have now merged loyalty programs.. -

Azamara Cruisers - How are things where YOU are
Tom47 replied to Grandma Cruising's topic in Azamara
My wife and I have visited Vermont several times. She loves covered bridges and we have seen every one in Vermont. See https://www.vermontbridges.org/cb_tours/keatings/keatings_ultimate_cb_tour_2005.shtml -
Azamara Cruisers - How are things where YOU are

I read the article and hope you stay safe. -
According to this thread, Azamara has been replacing the clingy plastic shower curtains with cloth curtains. But showers are still very small unless you get a suite. We last cruised on Azamara in 2019.
-
Azamara has been eliminating casinos during drydocks. My only complaint about Azamara is the very small showers. Service is excellent and food is very good. We have never been seasick during 4 cruises. We book midship cabins on deck 7 and use bonine and ginger pills.

Hold on to to those park entrance & tourist cards. One of them must be presented when leaving the park at Baltra airport. Omne person in our group put it in a checked bag and she had to pay again.. -

Celebrity ships in the Galapogas, thoughts from previous cruisers
Tom47 replied to Poconolady's topic in Celebrity Cruises
On our 2015 trip, we had the 10 day package, including Quito hotel(3 nights) and Quito-Baltra rt flights. Celebrity chartered a plane.. -
We just finished a Pearl Seas cruise, Quebec City to Portland, Maine. We were able to visit all scheduled ports. Food and service were excellent, except for chef's recommendation of duck entree, which was terrible. They brought me a lobster tail as a replacement and that was very good.

We were on the Xpedition in 2015 and recommend it. Teenagers might like it if they enjoy outdoors activities. Not much entertainment on board. Food & cabins were very good. -
We were recently on a Grand Circle travel river cruise. They advised us that they would provide a recyclable water bottle free of charge. There were 2 heavy duty glass 32 oz bottles in our room. They were so heavy when empty that we never used them. Our of 140 pax we saw maybe 4 people using them. We used recyclable plastic bottles also free of charge like most pax.

Is there an icon for online check in? Our last trip was 2019, but I believe we printed a boarding pass and luggage tags.

According to NBC news, there is a Covid case on board the ship. -
We saw polar bears in Churchill, Manitoba. It was a land tour. Flew to Winnipeg, train to Churchill rtn by charter plane to Winnipeg.

We have cruised on Azamara 4 times, RCI 3 times, and Celebrity 8 times. Azamara does have very small showers, but outstanding service. We have never cruised on HAL, RSSC , Oceania or Princess. We would consider all of them for itinerary. We have also cruised on Pearl Seas cruise line(only 1 ship-220 pax). Outstanding service and decent showers/bathrooms.

We have never cruised on Crystal. We cruised on the Azamara Quest with Russ twice. He is a great guy.

Azamara Cruisers - How are things where YOU are
Tom47 replied to Grandma Cruising's topic in Azamara
We were on 2 Azamara cruises with Russ Grieve as Cruise Director. We were impressed that he remembered us on the 2nd cruise 1 year later . He went to Crystal shortly before it declared bankruptcy. But he is back with the new Crystal. See we are happy for Russ. He is a great guy.
