  1. We ae sailing on the legend to Alaska in June and John Heald was to be the CD, but now it appears he will not be on that ship until July. There are some who are very disappointed because he will not be with us, but to me, it's no big deal. We've only been on about 10 cruises, but the CD has never mattered to us. Am I missing something by my lack of interect?

Nope. Personally, I could care less who the cruise director is. But that's just me - some people really spend a lot of time with them.

  2. I just received a Premiere offer, but I can't tell what the cash is that's offered. Does anyone else here know how to decipher the code?

    This is the offer:

  3. I was expecting a better experience and going forward I'll pay for 'Dooney and Burke' or most likely Chanel. It's not just me who is entitled, you and everyone thats cruises are entitled to a better experience. You've paid for it and you're counting on it for your vacation! Let's just name a few of the simple things: It's NOT unreasonable to expect the Guest Services desk to answer the phone rather than to let it ring. It's NOT unreasonable to expect the Ice cream machine to work. It's NOT unreasonable to expect the food to be warm. It's NOT unreasonable to expect a refill of soap in your room after 4 days on the cruise. This is not me acting entitled. These are a few of the more simple items where Carnival just dropped the ball.

    I understand your frustration, but...

There's more than one ice cream machine on the boat.

You can walk down to Guest Services if it's an urgent question and the phone isn't being answered fast enough.

You can tell the server behind the buffet that the food is cold and they will try to accommodate you.

You can tell your cabin attendant that the soap is low.

However, you can't expect people to read your mind and take care of your grievances. Just let people on the ship know what the issues are and they'll do their best to help you. Sitting here on Cruise Critic complaining about it won't solve any problems for you.

I'm sure this sounds a bit rude (definitely not my intention) but I know internet costs on the boat so I figured it's best to keep it short.

  4. Well, after reading the comment left, I think I'm just going to confuse you further... LOL!

I would recommend the Magic. I've been on both - the Magic in August and the Freedom a few weeks ago. Honestly, you can't make a bad choice here... both ships are excellent.

The food is better on the Freedom. Gotta love those Guy burgers!!!, but the waterworks area on the Magic will be more appealing to your kids. Also, the Magic has a great outdoor area on the Promenade. I like to spend time in the casino, and sometimes the smoke gets to me so it's nice to have an area that I can lounge around on without having to go to the top deck.

Best of luck in your decision! I'm sure you'll have fun either way.

  5. We have a 13 year old and he was allowed to walk the ship by himself. We had no issues whatsoever - but it all depends upon your child and their maturity level. To be honest, there were quite a few adults that we saw should not have been left alone because they always seem to find trouble.:)

Our son spent the majority of his time on the basketball court, playing mini golf, or in the arcade. He always knew where to find us, and we knew where he was. He was respectful of showing up to the room at the time we requested, and would leave us a note if he left to go somewhere. Again, all a matter of maturity.

    Have fun on your cruise!!

  6. Hello All,

Just off the Freedom and thanks to the casino I scored a free cruise!!!! So, I paid the taxes for a trip to the Bahamas today. The only thing is, I can't find pictures of the room anywhere. Has anyone been in this room. From what I can see there are only three of them on the ship.

If you have any pics or links to pics, can you respond? Also, if you have any questions regarding the Freedom, please feel free to ask!

  7. While the odds are usually against you when something like this happens, I was still hoping for a miracle and thinking about this young man since it was reported. So sad no matter what the circumstances are. My thoughts go out to his family, friends, classmates and those that were on the Glory with him. Such a tragedy at such a young age. :(

You and me both. I was really hoping they would have found him, but when no one was found on Sunday I knew what was coming. It's so sad, whether it's an accident, stupid mistake... whatever. I life is lost and a mother and father are in mourning. Prayers to the family.....

  8. We get the FTTF for two reasons.... first on and first off!

We love to be one of the first ones on the boat (dropping off bags in the room, and going upstairs to eat lunch), and there's nothing better than being through customs and in the car driving home by 9:30am on debarkation day :)

  9. From carnival faq

    Shore-to-Ship Communication

Effective 11/27/13: This service is no longer offered.

We know many of you would like an emergency contact number for family members not traveling with you. Therefore, in the event of a true emergency, loved ones may contact our call center at 1-800-227-6482 on a 24/7 basis. Our team will take down the caller's name and contact information and pass it on to our Guest Services team onboard so they can extend the guest a complimentary phone call.

    Thank you!!

  10. Hello all,

We're heading out in a few days on another cruise. The last time we went to Jamaica I was less than impressed. We went to Margaritaville and swam, and the cabby all but threatened us that if we didn't pay him more he would just drop us off in the middle of town. We were constantly hit up by the locals wanting us to pay them to take pictures, etc.

So, this time around I thought maybe a Carnival excursion???? Safer and more enjoyable??? But when I look at the website, there's very few that have over a 4 rating.

We're on a budget so we'd like to keep it as reasonable as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions??? If not we'll stay on the boat and enjoy ourselves there :)

  11. Shortly after returning home last April from our spring break trip on the Glory, the tanzanite stone fell out of my white gold ring setting. Never did find it. I believe my husband paid around $400 for this ring. Well we will be cruising again in three weeks. Does anyone know if I brought my ring onboard with me if they will exchange or repair this ring? Not sure where the receipt is at this point.

I hate to say it, but I doubt it. I can't imagine that they will refund or exchange your item considering that the stone is lost and you have no receipt. I would strongly suggest that you ask them to tighten the prongs on the next one you buy. Also.... look in the bottom of your purse (if you carry one). I lost my 2 1/2 ct diamond and found it in the bottom of my bag two weeks later.

  12. Not trying to highjack the thread, but I had a premiere question as well. We're heading out on our first premiere cruise in 7 days. When they give you the casino cash is it really cash or do they add it to your S&S account?

    Thanks!
