I stopped doing it when some nasty teenagers ripped my stuff. I caught one of them and almost ripped him a new one. My wife stopped me. Now we don't decorate.

Excellent review. I have sailed on the Triumph before and will be on her on April 9th. Looking forward to being back on the old girl.

A single glass of Johnny Walker Blue would cost. that.

I like the Panorama deck. My wife and I walked around the ship after dinner every evening. At the front of the ship it is very dark and you can see the stars. We saw a shooting start one night.

My wife and I have lanyards we received a few years back on a Behind the Fun Tour. We use those and pin our VFIP and ship pins to them.

Thanks for the review! We'll be sailing on the Triumph from New Orleans next week. We're also staying in Metairie and plan on driving to the French Quarter. Any suggestions for parking? I've heard it can be quite difficult. Also our cruise shows we'll be in Cozumel at 8:00 AM. Do you know if that is Cozumel time or New Orleans time?
Don't drive to the Quarter. Grab an Uber or Lyft. It's actually cheaper than paying for parking. And it's what the locals do! :D

I use my points to pay off travel. So if I have 20,000 points I apply it to the Sail and Sign purchases.
On the other hand, the points can be used to purchase Carnival Cash which can be applied to a future cruise. This way I have onboard credit already and dont have to put more purchases on my card.

I saw on your photo essay that Carnival has put benches on the "Secret Deck". My wife and I will be on Carnival Triumph on April 9th in room 7202 (right next to the room you were in), and we are looking forward to having access to a "secret deck."
-
Thank you for the review.
-
Go all the way forward and check out the "secret" decks!:D
Im booked on April 9 (48 days!) in 7202, looking over one of those "secret" decks!

I always opt for Cruise Cash. My wife doesn't drink alcohol, so Cheers doesn't work for us.

Carnival Conquest has always been my favorite. She was built for New Orleans and I miss her.

I would like to see Carnival do more about limiting excessive drinking. I cruise out of New Orleans (live here) and I've seen people get on board still drunk from being on Bourbon St. the night before the cruise and get belligerent when they have to wait to board the ship. Security at the terminal is usually off duty NOPD or Homeland Security, so they don't put up with much in the terminal. But aboard ship it can be ridiculous the amount of drunks wandering about, barfing on deck or in the hallways. fighting with spouses or sigs in public areas. And being obnoxiously loud. I do drink alcohol and love hanging out at the Alchemy Bar, but I do know my limits. Can't get through Mardi Gras without knowing how to pace yourself.

And I almost forgot, if you are a history buff, you have to see the World War II Museum! It is amazing!

New Orleans is a great city! But you are coming in summer. It's going to be hot and steamy. Bring sunscreen and arrange to go to cool locations. I like the Aquarium if I'm bringing kids. I live in New Orleans, so I stay away from the French Quarter. If I want to "party" I go to Frenchmen's Street or Uptown to Magazine.
Tchoupitoulas in the Warehouse district is fun, too. Cochons is a great restaurant. And Lucy's is a fun bar. But every bar in New Orleans is fun and funky.

I will be on the Triumph in April, but I've sailed on her before. Bar tabs get automatic 15%. I'm a generous sort, so I prepay my gratuities then give extra to my room steward and waiters who give good service. I get envelopes from the Pursers desk and give cash on the last day of the cruise.

My Paperwhite Kindle with lots of books loaded. Tea lights. Towel clamps. Disposable cleaner wipes. Hand sanitizer. Butt wipes (for all dat spicey, rich food). Febreeze.

Value received for dollars paid and home-port within driving distance.
I agree. I live in New Orleans. There are always 2 Carnival ships here. The other cruise lines are only here part time in Winter months.
And it is cheaper to book with Carnival. I may not get as many spiffs (currently VIFP Gold), but I have never been disappointed.
-
I let them choose and usually get an upgrade.

A few Coronas during the day at the pool. Scotch on the rocks before dinner. Whatever chocolate concoction I can get at Alchemy after dinner. But sometimes I ask the mixologist at Alchemy bar to surprise me with something that tastes like berries.

I've been on almost every Carnival ship that sails out of New Orleans (my home port). For each one I research what is offered onboard and plan my vacation from that info. Usually a cruise vacation for me is not about the ports visited, but about relaxation. I've been to every port offered in the Western Caribbean. Some I have no wish to visit again. So, I am happy just being aboard ship, relaxing on deck, getting great sleep in my inside cabin, and eating/drinking to my content for 5 days. Being that New Orleans is my home port and I live across the river, Its easy to grab a quick vacay when I need one.

:D It's just old and needs an overhaul. Good enough for a 4-5 day trip.

Local news in New Orleans reported that Carnival has asked for a new inspection "ASAP". All issues reported have been corrected.
Just off the Triumph....some of my thoughts....(sorry, tried to make it short but...)
