  1. Thanks for the review! We'll be sailing on the Triumph from New Orleans next week. We're also staying in Metairie and plan on driving to the French Quarter. Any suggestions for parking? I've heard it can be quite difficult. Also our cruise shows we'll be in Cozumel at 8:00 AM. Do you know if that is Cozumel time or New Orleans time?

Don't drive to the Quarter. Grab an Uber or Lyft. It's actually cheaper than paying for parking. And it's what the locals do! :Dclear.png?emoji-grin-1677

  2. I use my points to pay off travel. So if I have 20,000 points I apply it to the Sail and Sign purchases.

On the other hand, the points can be used to purchase Carnival Cash which can be applied to a future cruise. This way I have onboard credit already and dont have to put more purchases on my card.

  3. I would like to see Carnival do more about limiting excessive drinking. I cruise out of New Orleans (live here) and I've seen people get on board still drunk from being on Bourbon St. the night before the cruise and get belligerent when they have to wait to board the ship. Security at the terminal is usually off duty NOPD or Homeland Security, so they don't put up with much in the terminal. But aboard ship it can be ridiculous the amount of drunks wandering about, barfing on deck or in the hallways. fighting with spouses or sigs in public areas. And being obnoxiously loud. I do drink alcohol and love hanging out at the Alchemy Bar, but I do know my limits. Can't get through Mardi Gras without knowing how to pace yourself.

  4. New Orleans is a great city! But you are coming in summer. It's going to be hot and steamy. Bring sunscreen and arrange to go to cool locations. I like the Aquarium if I'm bringing kids. I live in New Orleans, so I stay away from the French Quarter. If I want to "party" I go to Frenchmen's Street or Uptown to Magazine.

Tchoupitoulas in the Warehouse district is fun, too. Cochons is a great restaurant. And Lucy's is a fun bar. But every bar in New Orleans is fun and funky.

  5. I've been on almost every Carnival ship that sails out of New Orleans (my home port). For each one I research what is offered onboard and plan my vacation from that info. Usually a cruise vacation for me is not about the ports visited, but about relaxation. I've been to every port offered in the Western Caribbean. Some I have no wish to visit again. So, I am happy just being aboard ship, relaxing on deck, getting great sleep in my inside cabin, and eating/drinking to my content for 5 days. Being that New Orleans is my home port and I live across the river, Its easy to grab a quick vacay when I need one.
