  1. If anyone wants pics of a specific room, you can google it and often find links to your specific cabin e.g. suite 1560 explorer of the seas

I always do those and often find reviews with regard to any noise, location, room attendants, etc. For all new suite sailors, beware it is hard to go back once you sail in one. Have fun!

  2. Isn't it hilarious that we "old" ladies can generate so much conversation about being "old" and wearing bathing suits. We've paid our dues and if we want to wear bathing suits to the mdr or theatre, then let us march forward with our heads held high!

  3. My sympathies to all who have experienced these losses. It can be hard. For the mdr, the first time you may want to ask maitre d to seat you at a table with other women. If you sit at a table with all couples it can be tough. We have never had a probkem getting a large table with alot of women and have ended up having a wonderful dining experience, as well as making some great friends. There are several women whontravel aline or in small groups and have always been able to strike up with them on excursions, in bars, casino, or by the pool. The first steps will be hard, so perhaps there may be another female friend you could get to join you on the first cruise. Best regards to all of you as you move forward.

  4. 60 and do both. If you are wondering about the day you embark, I have worn it onto ship with shorts and top. I ALWAYS have one packed in carry on in case luggage is lost, so can always change after boarding. I bring more suits than shorts and use them all!

  5. My experience is rccl is quite strict about age grps. My daughters could never change, even when within a week of their birthday. There are many more structured activities in the 9 to 11 group. Once they hit tween and above there is more hangout time in the teen room. If dgtr doesn't click with the other kids, or their aren't alot of kids sailing she might be disappointed in the older group.

If the difference is only 330 and not 330 a day (check that) then os will be much better especially if more than dh and dw are sailing.

  6. You are exactly right it is a mini freedom. Aos is one of our two davorites, freedom being the other. We love going out of San Juan as we take a few extra days before and after. Love the southern caribbean ports. Always have had great service, staff and experiences. One downside is the theatre shows aren't quite up to freedom, but ice show is comparable. Has virtually everything as freedom class except no flow rider and no sorrento's pizza or cupcake shop. We do aos at least once a year and always do b2b. There are fewer passengers than freedom which is nice in ports and on sea days and it is slightly smaller to navigate which is nice if you have any walking issues. Hope you love it as much as we do!

  7. Tell him to get his bottom to the teacher and find out what he has to do to get the grade up. Tell him he will regret forever not graduating with his class. I agree there is no excuse, but threats will probably only discourage him from making some last minute efforts. There is still time to turn it around and how proud he would be to actually achieve the cruise. Hearing you are cancelling or taking someone else only will discourage him further. Give it a few more weeks if you can, tho I know there are cancellation deadlines.

  8. I have stayed at comfort suites and I would encourage you not too unless you are looking for lowest price. Cambria suites is wonderful. Free shuttle for airport and port. They have a restaurant and bar on site and service is very good. Nice big seating in lobby, good computer setup, pool and hot tub. Stayed at 8 other fll places, now we always go back to cambria suites in Dania Beach. Also a great cuban restaurant a block away and low fare rides to most anything else you would want to do. And QUIET,?

  9. I always cruised off times because my kids were homeschooled. May is usually a good time unless you leave on mother's day. You should have a low number of kids because it is after Easter and before mother's day. But, as has been said, there will always be some kids. Find a spot at the solarium pool as it is adults only. The ship is big enough you can always find quiet spots! Have fun!

  10. Arrange for a delivery every day you are gone. Flowers one day, chocolates the next, singing telegram about how much you miss her, flowers and balloons the next, spa basket, wine and cheese tray. . . Get the picture? She will know she is thought about every day and will anxiously await what comes the next, making the time go quicker.

  11. On epic we had dinner first. Show started just as dessert was out. Tables were too close for servers to maneuver while show was going on in the same aisles. Show was very good and actually the food was some of the best of the week. Actually was the only thing I enjoyed about the epic. Food quality and timing of serving must vary by ship.

  12. Also Johnny Rockets is a fun experience. If you like staying up late the cafe promenade is a fun, quiet stop in the middle of the night. Ice skating for sure! Latin bar is generally rocking for good dancing. Finally, my fav is the solarium, especially on port days. Quiet and lovely for r&r. Some of the late night promenade events are fun too. Nice size ship, not too big, but big enough for activities. Oh I forgot mini golf is fun too.

  13. Unless you can walk on water across the canal there is no way you coukd walk to osj. The direction of the road out of the port is away from osj. Then you have to trek across a multi lane hwy with traffic circles and the it is still a couple miles. If you are intent on going, for safety if no other reason, take a cab.

  14. For real? There is food 24 hours a day, in every corner of the ship and you want doggie bags? I understand you pay extra in the specialty restaurant but when and how woukd you eat what is in the doggie bag? Enjoy the food when you are hungry and eating. . . . There will always be more!

  15. I homeschool and my girls have been on 12 cruises. Never a problem with finding kids. There may not be alot but there will be some. Because we homeschooled we used time on the ship for education. Go to guest services and tell them you teach your children and ask them if you could get any special tours of the behind the scenes areas that you could take for educational purposes. Also I have created scavenger hints for the girls to learn about the ship. They have to talk with crew members to get answers. They love the hunt!
