  1. Greetings All: Thank you for the positive and encouraging information regarding the "doable" ship disembark and travel to LHR for an early afternoon return flight back to ATL. I presume (but don't know) that Saturday morning travel from Dover to LHR would be less than during a regular work weekday - which would be helpful as well. I now feel more comfortable, thanks to your input, to work on arranging our fares with my TA or airlines. Best, jdk
  2. Greetings all: I am about a week or so away from deciding on flights before/after our booked 2022 SB Baltic cruise (Stockholm to Dover). I have been searching topics in this forum and other places regarding this question and I "think" that it is doable to disembark the SB Ovation on Sat., Sep 17, get to Heathrow within 3 hours, get through Security and be aboard a flight back to Atlanta by 2pm. This plan could also be total bonkers, a pipe-dream. To be truthful, flight options (LON - ATL) for the afternoon are not great, without another mortgage. Please, any opinions/thoughts are welcome (and, yes, I have been looking at London stay-overs, if we can't make the 2pm flights). TYIA. Jonathan
  3. Good Morning: According the the US State Dept regarding passports: What to Expect: Effective September 23, routine service can take up to 16 weeks from the day an application is submittedto the day a new passport is received. Expedite service (for an additional $60) can take up to 12 weeks from the day an application is submittedto the day a new passport is received. These door-to-door timeframes include both our processing times and mailing times on the front and back end. Link: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast/passport-agencies.html

  5. All: Thank you for the updates. We sailed on the Crystal Serenity (Venice to Barcelona) 10 years ago and it was wonderful. Best, jdk
  6. Good morning/afternoon/evening (I'm never sure of the time zones): I know that this is an old thread, but I am starting to look at 2023 river cruises. We currently have three SB cruises booked from April 2022 - May 2023. My wife and I have never done a river cruise, but I wonder if you all have any newer opinions (we are looking at 7 or 8 days, just to try the product, somewhere in Europe). I understand that offered preferences, compared to SB, seem to be Uniworld, Crystal, Tauck and maybe Scenic or AMA. Thank you for your thoughts in advance. Best, jdk
  7. IMO, # 912 should be really fine. We had 923 (Odyssey) and it was really quiet and then 1016 (also Odyssey, also higher up) and it was great. Granted, we were in the Caribbean (but it gets windy there). As others have said - nice company and location there. It was also easy to get early morning tea from the Observation Bar. Also, we always take the stairs and it was very easy and convenient to get up/down/around the ship (plus, climbing up after the various meals was a win/win in our minds). We never had motion problems (at least to my knowledge). Overall, I believe that you will enjoy the location. jdk
  8. Morning/afternoon: Is it my imagination or is the SB account sign-in is down? I have tried two different browsers and all I get is nothing - no movement at all. Perhaps, SB is finally "fixing" their site? Best, jdk
  9. My understanding (subject to revision) is that the new "included" internet packages will be associated with both duration and cabin classification. For example: 7-day Verandah will be 300 minutes per person, 14-day for 600 minutes per person and 21-day including 900 minutes. Those booked in suites may have unlimited access. Again, I am trying to parse through the online information and releases, so this is all speculation until we have firm policy.

  11. Hi Retired and Travel: My wife and I are booked for this Sept 3, 2022 cruise. As you indicate, this is an interesting itinerary and there are some great excursions lined up. Thanks to our SB TA, we are also well located in V1 on deck 7 - easy to get around. Perhaps, as we get closer, we can coordinate, should you decide to book. This will be our fourth SB cruise (all prior have been on Odyssey), so we are really looking forward to trying the Ovation. I really think that you will enjoy/treasure SB. Best, jdk
  12. Depending upon your sail date, the categories could be all different. For example our 2022 sailing (Baltic) on the SB Ovation will be a V1 cabin, but would be a V5 if sailing today. I suggest looking at your projected sail date and compare to the new deck plans. Best, jdk
  13. Good morning: depending on when your booking is, that v5 might be something else, such as a v1. Please take a look at the thread discussing/showing the new suite grading/classifications. For example, our booked v1 (Fall, 2022), on deck 7 and near the stairwell/elevators, is currently a v5. I can thank our TA for booking this over a lower selection.
  14. Depending upon "when" in 2022, what was once a much higher class may be much lower. As an example, we are booked on SB Ovation for Fall, 2022. Our booked cabin was (in the here) a V5, but it will be a V1 for our cruise. I think that this will be significant going forward.
  15. With celiac and required gluten free, they were also able to make a very good GF version of the fried chicken. It was definitely a special treat.
