Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. They have the exact same layout and the Spirit class is still our favorite. Of note, the Spirit did some time running itineraries in Australia (pre-Covid) and they made a few changes, including the addition of an arts/crafts space. When we did a Panama cruise on her last year, they had craft classes for about 30 people at a time, first-come, first served. Generally the type of painting or small crafts people may do as hobbies and I think the whole thing may have been branded by Michael's. In terms of decor, given recent controversies on the subject, the Pride does include a 6-7 deck high mural of the David statue that faces the glass elevators in the lobby. Doesn't bother me, but I could see how it might surprise some.
  2. There is no recording that I saw. It's more of a physical review that really is just a binary check (do you pass the current requirement or not?). If you don't meet the current requirements, you don't move along in the line.
  3. So I have a letter from Carnival that issues us an amount of future cruise credit. Is there a way within the Carnival online systems to verify that the amount is "on our account" or even what the actual dollar amount may be? Or do we have to take it on faith that once we book another cruise, we just pass this letter to the PVP or travel agent and a certain amount will then be applied to the new booking?
  4. We were on the ship and ended up quarantined for the last 4 days of the trip (all sea days). By our count yesterday at debarkation, I'd estimate at least 200 affected guests. The held all the quarantined cabins until the very end so we were able to see the group mostly assembled. We chose to rent a car and drive home (12 hours). Between the poor organization at the pier with buses and too few staff to direct, it took a little long to finally get to the rental car counters at the airport. Of course there are things that can be handled better in these situations and you would hope for better, but in the end, we had a good cruise and are glad to have made it through with some good stories.
  5. Update from the Spirit. Talking to the health team today, their allocation of cabins used for quarantine has been exhausted (a good chunk of Deck 1). New cases now quarantined to their original rooms.
  6. Currently on the Spirit on the canal transit. We have a week left until we finish in Seattle with only one more stop (Cabo) scheduled for Thursday. This cruise required vaccination, a Booster, and 2 precruise negative tests for all passengers. We just got the letter in our mailbox tonight (with 2 KN95 masks) noting that due to the case count on board, masks are now required again in common areas of the ship (unless eating / drinking). I'm already wondering if the Cabo folks will allow people off the ship.
