Quick tip, don’t confuse Meclizine and Mescaline. Two very different drugs. Though I suspect you wouldn’t have any seasickness issues if you took Mescaline.

Yes, although if one person in the cabin has a medical/person reason to avoid alcohol you can usually call and have them downgraded to a no alcohol package.
I really enjoy having a drinks package. It’s nice on vacation to just get a drink without having to debate if I really want to spend the money on one more drink today. That said, several lines have priced their drink packages so high there’s no way I’m paying that.
For someone who is skeptical about cruising, a week’s commitment is a lot to ask. While I 100% agree that it isn’t cruising at its best, it certainly a better option than not cruising.
You want to pre-plan, but not necessarily pre-buy. The only one that’s hard is Florence, which is a PITA to get to from a ship in Livorno. Consider the ship’s Florence on your own or pre-arrange transportation.
