  1. We are due to visit on a Sunday so don't think there will be much, if anything, open. It will be just a wander around and if the weather not good stay onboard.
  2. Working OK for me have just checked it.
  3. For all speciality restaurants that are bookable pre cruise and Limelight Club you get 20% discount for pre booking and then applicable Peninsular Club if you have any.
  4. There were rumours that they had stopped it but it was incorrect and you can still park there but personally wouldn't leave my car in a car park open to general public.
  5. Sometimes a little knowledge is more dangerous than full knowledge and can create more panic.
  6. Today received e mail from Cunard about my up and coming cruise on QA in July and the benefits of a Diamond member of CWC. Interestingly it states "A complimentary meal in one of our speciality restaurants" but does not say which ones or any value.
  7. Well we were on Arcadia one night in the buffet at about 12-30 am and there was an announcement to alert staff and it was all over the ship. It stated there was a fire on deck 2. We watched staff run to a door and all their fire kit and breathing apparatus was inside. We watched them get dressed then a short time later the Captain made a further announcement what caused the alarm and told all staff to "stand down".
  8. Not necessarily so because would people buy the same amount using OBC if it was their own money. If not then Carnival wouldn't be losing so much profit.
  9. Always use a credit card for all cruise lines we have cruised on and never had an issue. Would never register a debit card. The only issue we have ever had is with Princess we paid balance for a cruise and then a fortnight later took it again. Luckily we were still in the limits of our credit card and was quickly refunded and as a sorry Princess gave us a free drinks package for the cruise. P&O had same issue and offered some £50 OBC as compensation. We met one couple on our cruise and we mentioned the double payment and the free drinks package as compo and they said the same thing happened to them but the didn't get a free drinks package. Oops!!!
  10. Think you only get more because of the exchange rate as it has been those set figures for years. The exchange rate used to be a lot better in the past than current exchange rates so there was very little difference.
  11. We had one occasion of a fire on a cruise when the announcement was made into the cabins by during the night. The fire or cause of the fire alarm was quickly sorted and a relevant announcement was made. Next morning at breakfast it was a hot topic of discussion and many said they got up got dressed and put their lifejackets on.
  12. Have had issues of fire or suspected fire whilst onboard cruises a few times and a the word 'fire' was always used. Having spent all my working life as a firefighter giving full information as soon as possible creates less panic than giving nothing or fabricated announcements.
  13. Melodramatic over reaction by The Sun as usual intertwined with total nonsense. Machinery in engine rooms does overheat occasionally and might catch fire dealt with many with over 30 yrs as a firefighter. Sure it was dealt with rapidly and efficiently with no risk to any personnel onboard.
  14. Since COVID prices of cruises on all cruise lines have greatly increased. Not helped by high inflation since COVID and high food prices we have all suffered.
  15. I check my account on the so called App every day after suffering erroneous extra charges on our account. They were dealt with either by Pursers desk or with Bar Manager in Grills Lounge for a very expensive bottle of wine. Mistakes are often made and on one occasion my drinks were not going on my account and whenever was served was always called the wrong name. So obviously he thought I was somebody else and put my bills on his account. Did report it to Concierge and she laughed and said it was a first for customer complaint of drinks not going on their account.
  16. I hadnt got a clue of upgrade and neither had my TA until I checked in and downloaded boarding passes and luggage labels and noticed cabin numbers were different. TA phoned Cunard and confirmed upgrade but there was no mention of whether I had a choice or if I wanted to keep original booked cabin. As it was it was upgrade from inside cabin to highest balcony cabin so was happy to accept.
  17. On our cruise on QM2 last year we received auto upgrade even though we had asked for no upgrade when booking. We didn't know until we checked in and printed off luggage labels and boarding pass was different cabin than luggage label. Initially wasn't happy rang TA confused which cabin was right luggage label or boarding pass. TA rang Cunard who confirmed we had been upgraded even after asking for no upgrade on booking. After checking upgraded cabin accepted because it was such a good upgrade.
  18. Sorry if this has been asked before have done a search but cannot find an answer. Can anyone tell me which dining room has tablecloths for evening meal.
  19. Never been able to print luggage labels on my Android phone using Chrome but go on my laptop using Microsoft Edge and they have always been available to print.
  20. Gutted that QA arrives into Southampton on 27th. We are returning to Southampton on the 28th on Arvia and hoped her arrival would be that day. We had planned to disembark Arvia and stay in Southampton for QAs arrival. Will just have to be satisfied with hopefully a quick glance as we pass Mayflower on our way home.
  21. Is that because of your mindset before you are even on the ship that the staff are happier and it is a happier ship because you love QV. Personally we prefer QM2 but that is nothing to do with happier staff or happier ship. Honestly can say that we have found no difference on any of the ships as all are equal.
  22. Well having cruised on all current Cunard ships have never found any staff more happier on any ship compared to others.
  23. Of the choice of the two QV/QE we personally prefer QE than QV but don't there is not a lot of difference. Like has previously said access from Southampton means we have to sail on QV in the past. With regards to staff never noticed any difference on any of the ships, including QM2, as they are all excellent. General staff waiters, bar staff, cabin stewards etc tend to move around ships anyway so never understood that QV staff are any better than other ships.
