Enjoy your day, thoroughly enjoying following along!

I bit the bullet and booked this trip in June as I was playing on the website and found a great fare. I miss my husband terribly but he wanted me to continue cruising and enjoy my life after he passed in February 🥲

I definitely thought suite lounge was superior to celebrity with live music , enjoyed there food , outdoor area was way less crowded than edge class with a bigger lunch menu .

I have seen 2/3 different entertainment this trip so far a trio (singer piano and large string electric oboe) 2 guys piano and violin and a pianist, they all tend to be very good. The lady singer from the trio is from Ukraine and going home to see family at the end of her contract

I didn’t see an answer about tips. Are they included in the fare? I recall they were when we were on the MSC Divinia in the YC in 2015, but that was a long time ago. Also, how is the atmosphere in the main part of the ship? I wouldn’t know as we were on two b to b music cruises headlined by the Moody Blues and Yes, and the average age onboard was around 60. Because of this, it was pretty refined.

We have tips included in UK booking but tend to tip individuals also

One more drink question can you order doubles I believe it was allowed on my last yacht club , I know I can have that in celebrity retreat.

The bartender asks me if I want double or single Belvedere and tonic if I sit at the bar, I laughingly said they all looked doubles.

Georgia Peaches is right about the up charge for JW Blue I will try and find out how much.

  6. Lunch today on the pool deck Bar & Grill was salmon or vegetable curry or lamb chops, lovely selection of salad etc, sorry no pictures.

Last night was Elegant night lots of suits or tux for the men even a couple of kilts in YC , the ladies looked great but not as formal as the men.

Dinner last night was Scallops starter 3 per serving and then I had Tournedos Rossini, very nice meal .

The sommelier remembered me from Norway cruise in May and serving my favourite wine .

  7. Thanks for the help from other YC ers , no one has mentioned the newspaper on boarding you have a list of papers from around the world and pick your paper of choice. It’s delivered to your room door in a little bag, my butler knew I was on deck so brought it there to see if I wanted it!!

  8. The itinerary is Lisbon, then Canary Islands , Vigo Spain. There was a YC reception at noon with HD , Captain and YC staff we are waiting to see if we will call at Morocco in view of recent earthquakes so left that out for now.

Jamie and officers very visible and the YC director visited every table after the reception to greet passengers there are just over 200 in YC

    the ship itself looks gigantic

    how did they handle embarkation?

YC tent and check in no problem at all at 11 am on board by 11.20 glass of champagne in hand.. I am sure you would enjoy, met a couple from Australia who toured UK for 19 days now doing this cruise before flying home.

What type of cabin?  Looking forward to your comparison to Celebrity.  Have a great cruise!

I’m YC balcony, to be honest that’s all we sail, it can be a bit of a zoo outside YC depending on the itinerary. It’s 7th YC the first was January 2019

  11. WE travelled with friends in September 2021 both couples in Sky suites, got the Move up emails and bid for Royal Suites. Neither of us where successful but on check in at the pier 2 RS still available , went to Guest relations and both got the upgrades for half of the move up minimum bids the best part was they used our OBC so it was their own money paying for the upgrade!!

We asked about this once and the Concierge offered to book the excursions for us,  that was about it. Some cruisers have reported the occasional private tour being offered but largely the YC excursions benefit is a bit of a myth I'm afraid.

I agree never seen/heard about it before on a ship just the  questions here

  13. Actual Zumba is a fee pay class run by the Gym staff not the entertainment staf and only if there is a qualified instructor onboard. I signed up for it on a TA and was the only one there $18 for 40 minutes in 2018

You could always just drop your bags with the porters at the terminal, not actually board the ship, go about your business in NYC, and then get to the terminal at the last minute (2 hours before sailaway) to go through security and get checked in. Not sure what the advantage of going through security and getting checked in would be, if you are planning to get right back off the ship and do it all over again.

This is what I would do in fact we did it in 2019 with Meraviglia
