  1. Yep. To each their own. PS: Some of us hate "warm weather."
  2. Sorry. I thought this poster might not be clear on the particulars.
  3. Yes. And I've also read about the enormous debt these companies are carrying and are or may do all manner of things to bring some in. YOU can book a guarantee (and see the whole ship had that status) but I sure won't.
  4. We're doing a B2B and on the first 'leg', except for suites the entire ship was "guaranteed" status. I went ahead and did it but then got to reading. There is a slim but not unknown situation where passengers didn't get to board. I whined long enough that either my O agent buddy or my status-y TA perhaps talked to someone and eventually got a confirmed. I won't do that again.
  5. Since we NEVER cruise out of where we live and it's always a foreign port, we frequently have a nice lunch at a (previously researched) restaurant not far from the ship but not so close that there are likely to be 'tourists there. We always arrive a few days ahead so we know what the weather is and we dress appropriately for the restaurant.
  6. Well, I'll give a bit more detail. This was on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Currently any house at lake front or that can be seen from the lake has a palette of quite woodsy colors. So you can drive miles and miles and never see anything like it. I'd love to know the story; there must be one 🙂
  7. Rather than reply to any naysayers I'll just tack this on here. Where we used to live, about a mile away, was a house, nice woodsy looking. The house next door was about the brightest blue ever. Just think, the owners of the brown house got to look at the blue house maybe multiple times a day.
  8. I am also. And I carry two (sometimes three) pairs of shoes 🙂
  9. We moved here three years ago and I've heard of it but never experienced it. But I have developed over the decades of smiling at people every day 🙂 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Freeze
  10. Yep. We'll buy an 'ornament' for the tree. I put that in quote because what's on there can be silly. One is a glass evil we got in Turkey. As for the family not usually anything. They each have specific tastes. I'll also mention that when we did our Norwegian coastal cruise, every knick knack was "made in China."
  11. I just took a look at the other benefits. Not for us but, yeah, go for it.
  12. I thought of that very thing but you, as usual, 'talked' about it better than I could have. I have a friend who lives in a house in a neighborhood that has an HOA. They have to have a lawn and it has to be one of two grasses !
  13. To me that's A LOT of money to just get a little different dinner reservation. To each their own.
  14. I just had a thought. I don't think I've seen this on smaller ships. Do people who have already done some cruising prefer that and perhaps have gotten over the decorating. And I don't get lost in them 🙂
  15. I simply was curious about their differentiation; that's all. Sorry.
  16. I hadn't thought of this but we've never sailed out of a US port! I'm sure our favorite, for diversity and everything else, was a Norwegian coastal. IIRC there was only one other US couple. It was terrific. And these were experienced travelers and cruisers so tons to talk about.
  17. How would YOU differentiate it from "authentic"?
  18. Are you kidding??? A quarter of a second????? Give me a break. We were seated with another couple at Jacques one night. I don't think they or we could count a quarter of a second!
  19. We had them do a bag of laundry for us. It came back kinda dull looking so won't be repeating that.
  20. My final comment. When we were in Paris last year and I was looking at shoes, most I tell ya had on sneakers 🙂 But I'm guessing they changed to flats at night 🙂
