  1. @janecambridge my advice is to be prepared with your wishlist, both dining and tours , when you board and go straight to the destinations desk and the restaurant reservations desk to register your wishes. My guess is that you'll immediately have restaurant reservations to put in your diary (and may well be able to add to them during your cruise by sunply showing up and seeing if there's a table). As for tours, we are here on Splendor right now and every morning there are no-shows as late as when we're sitting in the theatre waiting to go and suite numbers are called forward from the list. Whilst it's far from ideal to have to wait till that last minute to have your plans confirmed, it's worth remembering that persistence pays off. I wish you luck and a great cruise!
  2. This morning our tour took ten of us by private, local boat from Qaqortoq to the Viking church at Hvalsey on our included Regent excursion. Riding the waves past the icebergs was fun but then we turned the corner and... Silver wind was already there and offloading her people on Zodiacs by the dozen. Not only that but... Thankfully a little patience ensured we got our pictures ok and their young crew members were generous in their offer of a strong arm or two to help us up a steep slope from the boats too. But there's more than a little irony in turning a corner like that and thinking "Oh no, there's a cruise ship there!", isn't there?
  3. @boblermas far as I know, until October (but please don't quote me on that, because I can't remember where I learned that from!) Wyatt is ACD and we currently have the lovely Chloe on board with us too as a trainee ACD. How lucky is that?! Thank you for sweet comments about my blog too - much appreciated.
  4. Sorry, I'm late to the party on this thread but thanks @boblerm for the nudge. Andy and Tammy left the ship in Oslo due to a family emergency and Margaret Lynn took over from there with her inimitable style and talent. We were sad to miss Andy and Tammy but Margaret is a very capable and safe pair of hands and runs an equally good Trivia session 😉 (well, some things are important, arent they?)
  5. We agree! It's interesting how often we refer to that very special day. As I read @flossie009's account and spotted a familiar face, I felt pleased you'd enjoyed Trom's delightful company too.
  6. @flossie009 thanks for confirming that there are a selection of Mermaids on the other ships too! We just returned from our tour in Paamiut, Greenland where it was a brisk and misty 4C this morning. Definitely a need to wrap up warm! I hope your visibility is better. We enjoyed lunch (favourite Zürcher Geschnetzeltes) in La Verandah whilst watching whales who didn't seem to be troubled by the tenders going to and fro. Have fun birdwatching! (my nightmare 😱 )
  7. Today's iceberg (!) just off Nuuk, Greenland 🇬🇱, where the weather is fine and looking promising, even though the foghorn was sounding for quite some time earlier (I heard it from 5am onwards 🙃)
  8. @seasickphil I hadn't heard of Mermaid either, yet both the standard blue bottle and the pink strawberry one are behind the all of the bars here on Splendor and since it's there on the list of standard spirits I guess it's on the other ships too ( @flossie009 might be able to tell us if it's on Navigator, perhaps?) Anyway I thought I'd give it a try (what's to lose?) Since I have connections with the Isle of Wight as well, I was pleased that I enjoyed it! 😅 Splendor seemed to change character slightly when you left, but seems to be back in the groove again now we've got going.
  9. @knotheadusc we really only "arrived" in Greenland this morning as we sailed through the Prince Christian Sound and it has so whetted our appetite for what's to come - weather being the main factor, of course. I'm about to upload some photos to my blog now the internet has returned.
  10. @katieaz I'm sorry, I know absolutely zero about how the Spa booking system works, but I hope someone else here can pick up your query!
  11. Good Morning from the Splendor! Just before closing our curtains last evening, we looked outside to find one of those magnificent skies This morning, we woke in Prince Christian Sound, Greenland, to find an iceberg outside our window. Speaker Hugh Neighbour will begin his commentary soon - 7am - and we're looking forward to a spectacular morning's sailing. Right now, the Captain has turned into a small inlet and is taking us to see a tidal glacier at the end of the fjord. Oooh! As always, details will be on my blog later, internet permitting 😉
  12. Flossie, glad to hear you made it into Copenhagen on the second attempt!! 😱 indeed!! We loved our time on the Navigator last summer, sailing almost the same itinerary. I wish you smooth sailing!
  13. A good idea @cruiseatc Name your time and place and I'll do my best!
  14. @Mudhen Torshavn was great, even if the weather did "come in" during the last half hour of our tour. I'll blog about it during the next couple of sea days - like you, we loved the place. Incidentally, this morning I said to Glen, our lovely butler ( @liptastic ) that perhaps we'd seen the last trees for quite a few days now. His answer came with a wink and followed up with two bottles of FeverTree tonic this afternoon!! (The bottle of Mermaid gin was brought yesterday!)
  15. Today we made it into Torshavn, Faroe Islands where we have the company of the Fred Olsen ship Bolette and the Norwegian Royal Yacht, Norge. We've enjoyed a walk around the city this morning and look forward to a tour into the countryside later. The best thing is the weather is fine!! (phew)
  16. Strangely, @cruisevirgin24 I just left the afternoon lecture thinking that a cup of tea would hit the spot perfectly right now. Perhaps I will see if I can find a decent one!
  17. Sadly, the Captain just announced that it's not safe to tender into Kirkwall today because of the swell and the high seas. Disappointing of course, especially since we were sitting in the theatre, ready to go with tickets in hand, but never mind. These things happen as we all well know. Fingers crossed for Torshavn tomorrow!! @Redking the G&T situation continues to improve with renewed Fevertree stocks since Southampton!
  18. A different I Kadek I think, @flossie009 because "our" I Kadek was still running about in CR last evening on Splendor too 😉 Have a wonderful time on board Navigator! Hope the weather is kind and all goes according to plan.
  19. @pappy1022 this one's 16 days, so not so short.
  20. Re the number of first time Regent guests in my post above....my dh thinks I'm mistaken and the number was two hundred and something. One of us might be correct!!
  21. Sadly we didn't manage to identify you @gabelle last evening, but we have time!! Yes, there's a very different feel to the ship, I agree - only to be expected really, but it will take some getting used to 😉 I don't think we're sailing full on this cruise and Margaret announced last night that there are over four hundred first time Regent guests (which might account for the different atmosphere?) We have a new Captain, Ubaldo Armellino and a new GM, Anatoli Makaev as Captain Felice Patruno and GM Franck Galzy left in Southampton. Oh, and just spotted a new Food and Beverage director too, in Luca Pezzolla. This morning, we have smooth sailing for our first sea day. Here's hoping that continues!
