  1. It happened to me and I bought only one $500 gift card so it's not about quantity. AARP did NOT make good so I did a charge dispute to which AARP didn't respond so the case was closed in my favor. The charge company gave AARP 60 or 90 days to respond so I had to wait for that many days to get it resolved.
  2. There is NO value if you don't drink. There is no value if you only need wifi for one device. Most of the rest if puffery. You can see the shows with great seats without packages and you can get your medallions at the pier without having paid for shipping. The major value comes from the alcohol.
  3. I found the Discovery to be way to big for my taste but others might like these mega sized ships.
  4. I had to turn in the medallion at guest services. They did not let me keep both. When I disembarked at ports I merely swiped the scan bar on the card at the machine. The crew looked at it as if it was an anomaly which it was to them. Last cruise a month ago i did use a medallion and kept it in an RFID sleeve which is made for credit cards. The sleeves are cheap and sold everywhere for under $2 a 5 pack. I checked to see if it was effective and my door did not unlock when the medallion was in the sleeve.
  5. There are key cards. It is required since there is a warning for people with pacemakers that the magnet in the medallion "could" interfere with the pacemaker. Princess needs to limit their liability on this issue. I went to guest services and got a regular key card. You still need to pick up the medallion at the pier, they do not have key cards.
  6. Are you kidding? Ask to go from an obstructed ocean view to an unobstructed Balcony, I'd say no if I were Princess. I would consider asking for another cabin in the category I booked or one category higher.
  7. I sail out of San Pedro (which is LA) multiple times a year. Just did a Mexico cruise out of the port last month. It is well organized and simple to follow the diections. I do not use an APP and never have the green line but have sometimes gone faster then them. After security which takes the longest you will be directed to a long counter with a dozen check in agents. You get your medallion and off you go. Easy as can be and fast.
  8. I didn't do any of the "green Lane" stuff and picked my medallion up at the pier in January in San Pedro. The whole process took less then 10 minutes.
  9. I cruised in January out of San Pedro. I don't use an APP and didn't have the medallions mailed for a fee. I called the Ocean ready line well in advance of the cruise and they did all the pre registration. I walked into the terminal at approx 11:15 and went straight to the check in desk to pick up my medallion and was on board in less then 10 minutes. Green VS Blue lane is all the same.
  10. what I hear people are saying is if everyone brings only one other couple with them to share a benefit they didn't earn it doesn't mean much. If 150 people bring another 150 people that's a whole tender full. Sounds like a lot of people to me taking up a seat on the tender which essentially is cutting the line.
  11. Gratuity IS included in the specialty restaurant up charge
  12. Gratuity is included in the up charge.l We don't care to triple tip. We've already tipped for the MDR we're not eating at and the gratuity is included in the service charge for the specialty restaurant. Twice tipped on the same meal. enough is enough.
  13. I did it via email last month so the APP is not required ONLY SUGGESTED. email to SBPCL@Princesscruises.com
  14. Booking a GTY can be anywhere on the ship and past assignments have nothing to do with future assignments, keep that in mind.
  15. Many of these "supposed" over tippers are not really tipping they're bragging.
  16. Nothing and I reduce my auto daily gratuity to $10 PP PD. Feel free to do whatever you want. Those that reduce or don't over tip won't answer on this board because of flaming they get so take answers from the over tippers with a grain of salt.
  17. The loyalty benefit also cost them nothing and they dropped that perk so it wouldn't surprise me if they did away with this one too.
  18. This is mis-information. I used email and took an extra day. use this email address SBPCL@Princesscruises.com
  19. I just sailed 28 nights on the Island and liked her very much. I did miss the international cafe but her size and friendliness made up for it.
  20. I recently had similar issues dealing with Princess customer service out sourced. I sailed last week on RCL. I wanted to compare both the cruise experience and the service between the two lines. I like RCL equally but prefer RCL customer service.
  21. Medjet is an annual policy for anyone, not just travelers. If I get sick in Las Vegas they will fly me home to Los Angeles because I am over a certain mileage from home. I forget all the particulars but have never had to use them but have had their coverage for years. The good part is that you're covered for multiple trips annually not just the one you buy individual insurance for. Keep in mind they do not cover your medical expenses except for the medical transport. I did a Greenland cruise and felt good knowing they worked so far from home. It's not for everyone, I merely wanted to let others know insurance for a cruise isn't always the best way to go and it's very expensive for just one trip.
  22. Insurance was what you needed and you got it. My point is and was that not every one needs it. Check out what you may already have before you may the decision. I hope you've recovered and are looking forward to many more cruises.
  23. It reminds me of how people take out car insurance when they rent a car when they're already covered by their own insurance. Many credit cards also give travel insurance. I have been cruising every year since the 70's. I'm around 90 cruises now. If I had taken out insurance on every cruise at only $500 per cruise that would be a whopping $45,000. Then of course there's my spouse so that number would double. IF you have Medjet which costs about $400 annually per couple you have transport home to a hospital. My HMO ( Kaiser) would cover the medical services. My only loss would be the cruise fare which is no big deal when I consider that $45,000 I've saved over the years.
