  1. Just off a 28 night cruise on the Island Princess and the food was awful. I had reserved class and the service was outstanding. The menu choices were cheap items and the lunch menu never changed in 28 days. Who orders a large plate of french fries for lunch one of the menu options.
  2. Thanks for your fast response. I'm off to go look now.
  3. I just got off a 28 day cruise on the Island Princess. I agree the food was awful, the buffet was not good either. The choices of dishes are low end and budget stuff. I found the crew to very polite and accommodating.
  4. Yes I'm D+ but haven't sailed with RCL for many years. I've sailing on Princess since they are on the west coast but now that RCL came back to Los Angeles I'm going to try them again and booked a cruise for next month. I'll call crown and anchor. Do you know what the choices are by chance?
  5. Is there a letter in the cabin telling me all the amenities I will get with my associated tier? I saw I get a gift/amenity but what is it and do I pick it or they pick it?
  6. Couple of corrections, not always will a suite get comped, it's only on 6 nights or longer. Previously the gratuity is included in the upcharge. My having dined in both specialty restaurants this Month is as current as it gets. Both restaurants were $39 on the Island Princess 28 night Mediterranean Cruise
  7. 4 night cruises have many exclusions like no complementary first night specialty restaurant. Sometimes they do invite suite guests on shorter cruises the list of perks excludes it.
  8. I was on the Island Princess 28 days this month. Sabatini's was $39 and Bayou was $39. Extra entree is $10. Since both were comped for being in a suite I could not tell you if there was an extra gratuity added on but it wasn't stated on the menu. Both restaurants were never full when we had dinner or when we merely walked by although Bayou was fuller then Sabitini's.
  9. My full suite on the Discovery did not.
  10. Princess definitely needs a new higher tier. They could give perks that cost little or nothing. I resent those paying alcohol get reserved seating in the theatre while those with 50+ cruises don't. I now prefer RCL's perks with Diamond plus and higher get reserved seats for the shows and complimentary drinks in the early evening and access to the concierge. Princess needs to up their game for their most loyal customers.
  11. Anyone who prefers Carnival to Princess looses credibility with me. There is no comparison. Having picked a holiday cruise which sails above double occupancy capacity should have expected delays and slower service. You set your expectations above what a mass market cruise line could do under the circumstances.
  12. I have not been able to resolve this with AARP. Yes I bought the card on the AARP website after logging in and going to the rewards page. I bought the card while I was on board the Island Princess to add to my folio since the shore excursions and other purchases were higher then anticipated. When the reward came through it showed a $500 balance immediately. Within 5 minutes the balance showed ZERO. I went to the Princess gift card inquiry page and it showed the card had a zero balance. The charge pended and went through. Visa tells me Jan 31 is the date the $460 will get reversed if AARP doesn't resolve the issue.
  13. Just got scammed for the $460 I charged on AARP for a Princess gift card. The card has a zero balance. I called AARP and they said call the merchant , Princess and see what happened. I called Princess and they said call who I bought it from because the numbers for the gift card don't exisit. Of course I put a dispute in with my visa and we'll see how it's handled. The rewards came through in an email and the gift card had a number and a pin but said zero balance.
  14. I'm on the Island Princess now. There is a plethora of scooters and wheelchairs and I couldn't quantify the large number of canes. I have noticed an abundance of consideration for people who need help. It has been nothing but pleasant that we've seen, elevators included. The show has minimal open area for scooter/WC's so it would require arriving at least 30 minutes early which is true for most of the theatre.
  15. I enjoyed it complimentary having been in a suite. I enjoyed the experience more then the food although I found enough to eat. I would not pay $150 for it. I do not drink so the wine pairing was wasted on me. It's really a bit more than $150 when you factor in you've already paid for all your meals .
  16. I have bought a gift card while on a cruise (my laptop) and take your laptop to guest services and they will apply the credit. I obviously don't have a printer on board so this work around does the trick if I find I need more OBC.
  17. There is only one extra dish offered that's not on the menu. The lack of waiting for a table is the main perk of reserve class, the food is the same as the main dining room. Since you're already in a mini suite the cabin will be identical, the location will change. If you're in a mini suite on deck eight you have a fully covered balcony and if you switch to reserve class you will be on deck 9 , not a covered balcony so location is personal choice as to which is a better location. In reserve class there are seldom sharing tables, they are mostly 4 tops and a few 6 tops for bigger groups.
  18. I don't get the mean less questions. If you already knew you loved the aft facing suite why the questions?
  19. I'll bring a tote bag from home. It's handy for all the excursions to have a few water bottles and a snack.
  20. I dislike aft facing cabins period. I prefer mid ship suites. I sail mostly in suites for what used to be decent perks. Now the perks are sorely lacking. The aft has a few disadvantages to my likes. The wake is noisy, there could be ash from above that blows onto the balcony and you can't see ahead or side to side unless it's a corner aft. It is also too far from the elevators, especially if you're carrying some thing. As to Vista suite vs any other full suite, I find any of them just fine. They all have a free standing shower and plenty of seating and counter space. I choose my suite based on location and price.
  21. Have they started giving the light weight blue tote bags again? For a while they were a supply chain problem and not available. Are the elite bathroom amenities back or still "supply chain" issues.
  22. Ask, all they can say is no it can't be done. There's usually an Indian dish in the buffet.
  23. Took me less then 5 minutes at the pier in San Pedro.I refuse to pay for something I am entitled to! Yes entitled to my cabin door key.
  24. I email stock to proof to SBPCL@Princessceuises.com or FAX to 661-753-0180
  25. Deck 8 are the best mini's because they are fully covered IMHO.
