  1. Can anyone clarify if there will be taxis waiting to pick people up at the port? We would like to see some of the sights, but we also have some financial business to handle while in the country so we need to stop at a bank in Cork for a bit.
  2. We booked through Speedy's whom also owns the ferry. https://www.bviferries.com/
  3. So we ended up renting a car for the day and had a great time. We were cruising with some friends who decided to tag along and they also rented a car. Hit Baths right out of the gate and got stuck behind a tour group so it took some time. The kids wanted to hang out at the beach and were disappointed when we had to move along but everyone was happy when I pulled into Savannah Bay, what a beautiful beach. Must do for anyone visiting that has a rental car. Maybe 5 or 6 other people there but felt like we had the place to ourselves. After that we tried to do Sugarcane for lunch but they were closed. Ended up doing Hog Heaven. Food was decent, prices reasonable, view was simply amazing. Definitely a million dollar view and worth a stop for a drink even if you don't want to eat there. On the way back into town we hit the Copper Mine and then dropped the cars off and got a ride back to ferry terminal. Definitely got our moneys worth and feel we saw a lot more than had we just done a trip to the Baths.
  4. Did Blue Lagoon earlier in the year and the paddleboards, kayaks, etc... were free for the taking to be used in the lagoon. Is this still the case? My daughter (22) wanted to do kayaks/snorkeling in CocoCay but it is sold out. Was thinking a trip to Blue Lagoon may be a good substitute for them if those activities are included. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Visiting Nassau over Christmas break and typically we don't do much in Nassau. Happened to find a wine tasting followed by a wine blending/making excursion at the Graycliff. Curious if anyone has done it before and their thoughts.
  6. Will be in port from 8 am - 6 pm and have a car reserved on Virgin Gorda. Obviously doing the Baths but curious of any other suggestions for places to stop and see or good places to eat or get drinks. Should have plenty of time to explore the island, doesn't look that big, just looking for suggestions.
  7. Will be visiting Tortola on Nov 22nd via Celebrity Apex. Will be in port from 8 am - 6 pm and looking to visit the Baths, 2 adults and an 11 yr old. Just curious what yalls take is on getting over there, do it ourselves or book through Celebrity? I typically book outside the cruise lines so I'm not against the idea at all and reading other threads on here it looks like we are lucky to have a pretty large window of time in port, so shouldn't be rushed either way. Celebrity would run us about $68pp and could go at 8:30 or 1 pm. Looks like Speedy has a few deals going on right now and could get round trip ferry and taxi to bath for $38pp or do 2 roundtrips and rental car for $99, would need to buy an additional ferry ticket for little one if we got the rental. Kind of leaning towards doing it ourselves unless anyone has a good reason not too. Would it be worth going the rental car route? We're not huge beach people, so I don't suspect we'll be camped out all day at the baths. Not sure if there is more to see near the Baths that would lend a rental car to be advantageous?
  8. I have booked a comped cruise before and added my daughter as a 3rd person for free under the kids sail free promotion. Had to pay taxes/fees for her but there was no additional charge for her. So you can use that promotion with a comp offer. I know you can add people to a reservation pretty much at any time, so I would assume if the kids sail free was applicable at that time, it would apply. There is no guarantee though that a room that will fit 4 will be available down the road, that is a chance you have to take. Personally, I would book the room with you and your husband in it for now. Maybe do a mock booking with 4 of you and see what room you want. When you book through casino request that room that way you know it will fit 4. When times comes to add kids see how it goes. If they won't honor the kids sail free and you don't want to pay the cost to add them, cancel the cruise. Taxes/fees are always refundable so you shouldn't be out any money. I would be weary of dropping $2000 to add the kids now hoping it will get refunded unless you REALLY want to go on this cruise and/or you are ok paying the $2000 if need be.
  9. I realize everyone has their own opinion so this may or may not help me decide what I want. Own a few SLR's and various lenses and really never use them. Last trip I took them on it was a PITA so think a bridge camera is the way to go. Have an Alaskan cruise booked and think I want to pick up a camera before we head out, otherwise all pics will be taken with the Iphone. Sony RX10 seems like the clear choice, but I just can't stomach dropping around $1500 on it. I'd like to stay in the $500-$1000 price range. Eye balling the FZ300 & FZ1000 ii. I realize the 1000 has the 1" sensor which will make it much better in lower light situations, but the compromise is 400mm max zoom compared to 600mm on 300. I feel like maybe I am going to want more zoom on an Alaskan cruise, but then I feel like a 1" sensor is going to take better pictures. I'm not sure where the compromise is and how much zoom is too much. Love to hear from anyone with some first hand knowledge on which, zoom or 1" sensor, would be more beneficial on my cruise. I'm also open to other brands/cameras within the price point. Thanks for the help.
  10. I just did a mock booking on Walgreens, said it was for travel, no symptoms, etc.. Put my insurance info in and it let me book an appointment and said nothing about costing anything. I have very good medical insurance so I'm not sure if my insurance is covering it no questions asked or if this is an oversite and Walgreens isn't even running insurance until you show up to see what you owe.
  11. Cruising Royal and will be in town from 1pm - 8 pm in late September. 4 of us traveling and was leaning heavily towards renting a car for the day and heading out to Mendenhall Glacier and exploring more of the area via car. Started looking around and see we can do a combo tour which will include 2 hours on the water looking for whales, then drop us off at Mendenhall Glacier to do as we wish and then bus us back to the port. Our other ports include Ketchikan, Sitka, and Victoria so Juneau seems like our best opportunity for whale watching on this cruise. Whale watching is not a "must do" but a unique opportunity given the area. For those that have been there done that, curious what your thoughts are. Still looking but right now leaning towards booking through Juneau Whale Watch if that matters.
