  1. Lately, every time I log on to the Princess web site, I get a call from my Personal Cruise Consultant. Yes, I believe they know when you log on or it is an uncanny coincidence that happens very frequently.
  2. Hmmm Am I reading this CDC page correctly? It is reporting, as of today, August 16th, that the Majestic Princess has Covid onboard and is in yellow status. https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/cruise-ship-color-status.html Yellow status means the ship has met the threshold for CDC investigation, which includes one of the following criteria: at or above the investigation threshold for crew COVID-19 cases, at or above the investigation threshold for passenger COVID-19 cases; or state or local health department notified CDC of passenger COVID-19 cases occurring within 5 days of disembarkation. CDC acknowledges that it is not possible for cruising to be a zero-risk activity for spread of COVID-19. Cruising will always pose some risk of COVID-19 transmission. Therefore, public health measures, including testing and vaccinations, will continue to play a role. CDC recommends that all travelers (passengers and crew) get fully vaccinated against COVID-19. I don't think I would panic but I might be a bit more attentive to mask wearing. As the CDC says, cruising will always pose some risk.
  3. Nope! Me too. I enjoy looking though it every once and a while. I will continue writing in the book even though I am nearly out of space.
  4. I am getting tired of all these data breeches. Having already been a victim of identity theft, I have shut down all credit on the big three bureaus. Hopefully, they are going to offer free monitoring for a year to all who may have been affected. It is really scary when all your information is out there. And a headache getting it all rectified when something happens.
  5. Well Princess, I will vote with my dollars. Until the virus is no longer a threat, I will pick my second favorite line to sail CELEBRITY who will be requiring passengers and crew to be vaccinated except for children who will require a negative test. Here is a long list of Cruise lines that will be requiring proof of vaccination. https://www.travelagewest.com/Travel/Cruise/Cruise-Lines-COVID-Vaccinations-Requirement
  6. Volcano just erupted about half an hour ago. I was up in the middle of the night watching the news. They said eruption was imminent. I guess they were right. Celebrity Reflection and Serenade of the Seas were assisting in the evacuation. It was chaotic. Prayers for those affected.
  7. Steelers 36, I love the last line in your article. “But an absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.”
  8. Vaccinated people can still get Covid-19. It is not 100% guaranteed. You probably just won't die from it. According to CDC information, updated April 2: A growing body of evidence suggests that fully vaccinated people are less likely to have asymptomatic infection and potentially less likely to transmit SARS-CoV-2 to others. However, further investigation is ongoing. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/science-briefs/fully-vaccinated-people.html Everyone needs to access their own risk and make their own decisions. Personally, I am going to wait a bit more before cruising until my comfort level is reached. I am sure this is difficult decision for many of us who love and miss cruising.
  9. Only age 16 and up are approved to get Pfizer. Pfizer did make an announcement that its testing shows it is effective in kids as young as 12. However, the FDA has not approved it yet and that could take many months
  10. I got the Moderna this week. I would have been very comfortable with the Pfizer because I got my vaccination at a major metropolitan hospital where I know protocols are very good. It was interesting that my Moderna syringe had a tag on it and the number was scanned into their computer. Actually, I realize how absolutely lucky I was to be at the right website at the right time to get that appointment. My vaccine was on Wednesday, NYC ran out on Thursday. Even the nurse at the hospital confirmed that. Second does will be in 28 days. Full immunity will take another two weeks after the second shot. Cuomo said not to worry about availability of second dose because it's a different system. I hope he is right.
  11. Oh well that's a bummer. I was considering this but NOT on the Caribbean Princess. I've been on that ship too many times. I'll just delete this one from my saved cruises. Thanks for the heads up.
  12. Not necessarily true. When I got my original vaccine for shingles (not the new one, Shingrex) , my doctor told me I had to get it from a Pharmacy because we had a power outage in NY and he lost his supplies. He did not reorder. This vaccine has to be stored frozen between -50° to -15°C (-58° to +5°F). If my doctor had a place to keep it, I am sure others did also. I did get it at a pharmacy near my doctor and rushed to his office for him to administer. Since then, I have gotten my two doses of Shingrex. ThermoFisher, who I order from for my lab, has many sized models able to store vaccines.that need to be frozen. And I think if doctor's need to get the proper equipment, they will. And also, there will be a market to produce the required units.
  13. I guess it depends on the person. I have sailed from Southampton many times. I never look forward to it; just endure it. After a long overnight flight from the states and arriving early, I have had to wait hours for the Princess busses to arrive to drop off former passengers. They now have a waiting area with seats but have done it where they just cordoned off a section of the airport and we all had to stand for hours. Poor seniors with walkers!! Then a long drive (1 hour 10 minutes) from Heathrow which is often longer because of heavy traffic. The last time, it was 1 hour and 55 minutes. And very frequently, I am too overtired and anxious to get on the ship at the same time; kind of like an upper and a downer at the same time. But, if it's the only way to get on a ship or itinerary I want, I just have to do it.
