  1. Quick post. Ate at Luminae for lunch. Servers running around in a frenzy. Service not great. Waited a long time for water (no aqua Panna) then waited for drinks. Food was good. I thought the burger was great. Cooked right and tasty. At muster. Still no luggage. No more plush towels in suites. New Bulgari has arrived. Same stuff/scent. Some in larger containers. No new delectable delights as promised in January. Butler had no clue what I was talking about. They are changing many of the wines but old ones still on menu. Brancott is considered premium. Um ok?! Looking forward to sail off and unpacking! Bon voyage!

  2. Simply take a pillow protector. Put it over the pillow. The case has been steam cleaned so no issue there. But . . . . As to dust mites what about the bedding? Isn't that a far worse problem?

New towels - unless they were washed what could be on them from Sri Lanka, Pakistan or? Most towels say to wash before using. Again the laundry system on X is steam. They can turn a men's XL cotton shirt into a faded Medium!

    I suggested a pillow protector.

I sleep with the sheets that have been washed and dried with heat. So, no problem there. I dont use the comforter, but a cotton blanket.

As for towels - the new towels I have rec'd have been washed. I have only requested this once when the towels in the cabin had holes and were not the ones that are to be in suites. Had nothing to do with dust mites.

  3. Hi ... I'm the partner referred to here. Just to add to what's already been posted: We went to Tuscan Grille and I thought the atmosphere and food were quite good. However, my main complaint is that we felt rushed. It started off with little things -- e.g. the waiter tried to take our order even before the wine steward came over or before we were offered a cocktail. When taking our order, the waiter explained the menu in terms of it being a "three course" meal, and it included pastas as entrees. When my partner asked if he could have a 1/2 order of pasta as another course before the entree, the waiter responded that he would bring it as a side dish with the main. In my experience of fine Italian restaurants, pasta is usually a course before the "secondo piatti," so we all found it odd that the menu didn't describe it as such here. However, it was even more odd that the request for a pasta course was not accommodated, being served as a "side." Finally, my partner's silverware was being exchanged out in preparation for his next course even while he was finishing his salad -- again, a serving faux pas. Soooo...my advice, should you prefer a leisurely dining experience, would be to politely tell the waiter at the beginning of the meal that you're in no hurry and that you'd like to take things slowly. -- Cheers! :-)

BUT it looks like someone got pistachio creme brulee for dessert so I am sure the meal ended on a high note!!

On a side note - The photo of pasta dish in Luminae is nowhere near a ragu...don't you agree? Chunks of venison in brown gravy looks pretty unappetizing. In my experience a ragu would have meat that would be shredded from cooking in the sauce for many hours. How did it taste?

Thanks for all of the updates and photos!

Can you ask for a Murano cheese plate in Luminae one night and let me know if they bring it?

  4. My guess is that they would not be able to oblige since they don't carry that sort of inventory on board.

I am severely allergic to dust mites. I have asked and received brand new pillows on past X cruises. They have them. Just need to ask. The also have brand new towels. Just need to ask.

  5. If nervous about this, I would suggest bringing some pillow protectors with you. It is like a pillowcase with a zipper and prevents mites and anything else from getting on to you. This would be a lot easier than bringing pillows.

Also, it would not hurt to ask for brand new pillows upon your arrival. I don't see why they would not oblige.

Hmmm nothing that I see here foodwise is telling me that Luminae will be getting that Michelin Star they are striving for. If you didn't tell me, I would think this was MDR food. These are Chic Night dishes? I hope it tastes better that it looks. Those whipped cream flowers with the green dots...what the heck is that? Looks like a child decorated the plate! LOL

Thanks so much for posting. Looking forward to the rest of your trip. Enjoy! PS - What time do they lock up the beer and close the car for drinks in MC? Thanks again!

  7. Yes, we get you are disappointed. Most issues like this can be sorted on the ship when you are there. Celebrity do try to make things as right as they can for their guests.

    Phil

Understood, so stop exaggerating and saying I am making this a life or death situation. I know I can speak up on the ship to try to work things out. I am simply trying to get info prior to my upcoming cruise. Thanks for your input.

  8. We always like a table for 6 or 8 in the center of the dining room closest to the captain's table. We usually travel as mother/duaghter and need to talk to someone other than eachother each day or someone would go overboard! :)

You usually find the best servers in this area as well.

If you don't get what you want (we check table shortly after boarding), go to the MD and have he/she reassign you to what you perfer.

  9. I can bet that if they were to roll out a sushi bar/restaurant, it would not be solely raw fish. I would hope they would have noodles, rice bowls, salads, etc. as most sushi restaurants offer. I guess we will wait and see. I don't think The Porch is doing well with their seafood restaurant so we shall see where that goes too. I was really looking forward to it, but qulaity and execution are key to success...same for sushi.

I love the idea of turning the glass blowing area into a pizza place. That would be great. The pizza in the buffet, imo, is not worth it.

  10. Who said they are inside cabin cruisers? Why does it matter? I share the opinion of richsea, dkjretired and others here and I stay in cabins all over the ship. The suite amenities being discussed here are still bedding in and a little bit of patience and less worrying would be a better bet in my view. It's not life and death!

    Phil

No one said these are life and death issues.

And to go back to other posts, actually I am 'entitled'. I am 'entitled' to the things Celebrity said are included in their suite experience just two short months ago. They should not roll out advertisements to reel in customers with dates attached if they can't deliver. As said, these are not make or break things by any means, just really annoying to get notifications on enhancements with dates attached and then...nothing. It's disappointing.

  11. Rich, I'm definitely on the same page with you and dkjretired. I'm kind of dumbfounded by anyone who would make the brand of toiletries, or the type of afternoon snacks a deal-breaker, in booking a suite.

Over our years of cruising X (and RC, before that), we've had "meh" experiences in various suites, and outstanding service in plain old veranda cabins -- and, vice-versa! And while we appreciate nice accommodations and good service, we cruise for the overall experience provided by the brands we choose.

Perhaps those who are so picky about details (and who can afford the higher-end suites on X) should consider booking one of the true luxury (as opposed to modern luxury) lines. They might be happier on Oceana, Crystal, or Seabourne. But, one thing I do agree on: X should not be advertising things that it does not plan to deliver. It's just plain bad marketing!

I simply wanted to know if the perks advertised have been implemented. Please start a new thread if you would like to criticize posters comments.

If you are referring to me, this is not a 'deal breaker'. I never said it was.

In addition, I am not 'obsessed', just simply wanted to know what recent cruisers have experienced as it relates to new features promised to suites.

Please do not use my thread to talk about so-called 'entitled' suite guests. Start your own thread if you want to talk about that.

    Thanks.

  12. The 'delectable' afternoon snacks may well go the way of the 'locally sourced' suite restaurant food. (It's all a dream of dieting PR hack.)

It does help to ask your butler for the kind of snacks you want.

oh yes. i know. i am a frequent suite cruiser. i was simply looking forward to something new that was promised, but shame on me for thinking I would get what was advertised on the date that was advertised, Just two short months ago.

  13. Personally, I don't eat the snacks the butler brings in. We eat and drink so much during the cruise, we don't need/want the extra snacks. As for toiletry products, I bring and use my own. I don't get what the big deal is about these "enhanced" snack offerings. other than it's one more thing Celebrity promised but didn't deliver on.

Yep. That's the big deal. Also, it would be great if they were edible. From the pics that they posted of baby lambchops and tuna tartar when they sent out the release, it would have been an upgrade to the garbage they are serving now...hence the reason why the created NEW DELECTABLE snacks. Maybe people would eat the stuff.

  14. Didn't say when in January, just says beginning Jan. 16

    From Celebrity Website:

Plus, these new suite features, applicable from 1st January 2016:

    • Premium branded bathroom amenities for all suite guests

    • A welcome bottle of Perrier Jouet champagne for our Reflection Suites, Penthouse Suites, Royal Suites and Signature Suites

    • Delectable Delights - a daily delivery of different dips, finger foods, desserts & fruits for all suite guests

    • Complimentary laundry for Reflection Suites, Penthouse Suites, Royal Suites and Signature Suites

  15. Which stateroom categories receive complimentary daily stocked mini bar of beer, soda, and water?

Royal Suites, Penthouse Suites, and Reflection Suites receive this benefit. It is not applicable for other categories.

Royal Suites, Penthouse Suites, and Reflection Suites have multiple complimentary benefits- including complimentary premium beverage package, unlimited complimentary specialty dining, unlimited internet access, and complimentary mini-bar stocked with beer, soda, and water daily.

If it is 'Premium' water or not??

    bon voyage

Well, as you can see from my email, what is in writing and what really happens are two totally different things most of the time. Above poster generalized suites, which sounded to me like all suites, so I will let them answer and clarify as they might have been in a CS or SS and actually got in room unlimited water.
