  1. We are looking at the November 1, 2024 sailing of the Quest. It’s a bit of an odd duck itinerary, but fits in time wise for a quick get away. Rumor has it  that they added this sailing instead of sending the Quest into dry dock and will be performing some of the work during the sailing. Any thoughts on what this might be like?  Or should we look elsewhere?   Thanks in advance

  2. I know this itinerary isn't as adventuresome as many of the posted questions, but we are wondering if there will be any changes to the itinerary as it disembarks in Ft. Lauderdale.  Not to get political, but Florida isn't allowing cruise lines that require full vaccinations to dock there.  We are waiting to make hotels in San Juan and return flights from Ft. Lauderdale in the event of possible changes.   Any thoughts?

  3. We are booked for a Caribbean sailing in November with the included air.  We normally do our own air, but getting from Austin to Barbados is a bit of challenge, so we thought we might have Silversea do this.  When can you request air schedules and book flights?  Can you request specific flights?   What is the air deviation fee, as we will be going to Barbados a couple of days early?  Any suggestions or experiences you've had with their air would be greatly appreciated.

I know that some people on the Regent board are not interested in cruising to the Caribbean in the January/February time period — something about the "different kind of passengers/ambience."   I'm not overly much concerned about that.   What I am wondering is whether any of you have been on a Caribbean cruise after a strong hurricane season that has seriously damaged one or more of the islands on your itinerary.   I wonder whether the cruise line adds another sea day ( there are so many already) or somehow finds another port to visit.    I know that a certain number of people cruise mainly to enjoy the ship, but we prefer to be out and about.

I'm asking because we have a Caribbean cruise tentatively booked for January.    Final payment is due in a few days.    Thinking about hurricane season, and especially what Dorian did to the poor Bahamas (its people and those wonderful islands), I've been thinking about cancelling the cruise — just seems too iffy.

Would appreciate hearing any experiences.   Thanks.

Just curious about the "different kind of passengers/ambiance?"  We are booked for 3/2 on the Explorer.  Is there something we should know about the passengers?

Echo that - Amex is not widely accepted in Europe. Mastercard or visa are the way to go.  You will need some currency for small purchases.  Smaller shops often won't accept cards for purchases under 5 and sometimes 10 euros.  Apple pay and the like are also not that widely accepted in smaller locations.

We just came back from several countries in the Med and NO ONE would take Amex.  You'll definitely need either Visa or Mastercard

  6. Does anyone know how waitlist cabins work?  We’re waitlisted for a cabin on the Reflection this fall. Do they automatically change the cabin I’m currently in or do they notify me  it’s available and we  have a certain amount of time to respond?

  7. Thanks for your responses. The excursions have now been posted, but as you said, not available  for booking until 120 days out.  Very sad that the one I really wanted in Cinqueterre that went to Santa Margarita is not available for our sailing.

  8. Thank you both for your response.  I'm confused as to why SS can't list the shore excursions and pricing so we can make our decisions before booking is opened.  I'd just like time to mull over the final options before the pressure of booking.

  9. We are booked on the Silver Whisper for July.  Final payment is almost here and we are anxious to make our shore excursions and dining reservations.  However, a week out from final payment only 2 ports of shore excursions have been listed for the sailing through My Silversea.  When can we expect the remainder of the excursions to appear?

  10. First cruise on Holland America, the Niewu Amsterdam, the old one. The enitire trip was dogged by bad weather. Storm of the Century, early 90's hit the day we were to sail. Many flights and late night arrival in Tampa and missed a day of the cruise and skipped Jamaica. Took me 10 years to get on a ship again. Sailed the Seabourn Godess and was hooked on cruising forever.
