  1. The only cruises I see are in April/May 2024. Do you think MSC is done with Canada/New England after that or are they just not available yet?
  2. I believe the CDC guidelines when the current T&C were written was to isolate for five days after a positive COVID test. Due to that, I believe “within 5 days” means 0-5 days before the cruise. If someone tested positive more than 5 days before the cruise they would have been fine to sail per the then CDC guidelines. The CDC has since changed those guidelines so I would expect the T&C to change at some point.
  3. Mine were something like this: I am guessing it got caught on something and the plastic loop snapped.
  4. Happened to me once. I use those plastic luggage tags from Amazon that you put the cruise line luggage tag in. I was on my way to Guest Services to report it missing when I saw a few pieces of luggage including mine sitting in the atrium. The plastic luggage tag with the cruise line luggage tag was missing, but my regular luggage tag with my name and home address was intact. I don’t know why they hadn’t used my name to look up my cabin number to deliver it. Maybe they would have, but I simply took it myself at that point.
  5. How long does it usually take the MSC Voyager’s Club to respond to emails? I received an auto reply that they received it, so I know it went to the correct email address. The Customer Service number has told me that the only way to reach them is email. I’m going on two weeks now with no response.
  6. I personally doubt that cruise lines are going to bring back to restrictions like requiring testing and vaccinations. At most I could see mask mandates but only if there are a lot of cases on board. I also don’t see more generous cancellation policies or Voyager’s Club extensions coming back. I think those of us that are Covid cautious are going to have to make that decision on whether or not to make final payment not knowing what case numbers may be like in a few months.
  7. I did a mock booking on a large online TA site. They show that final payment is due at 75 days. I will definitely be calling MSC before the 90 day mark so I don’t lose my deposit.
  8. I have a cruise booked for later this year. It is a four night cruise from Florida in a regular interior. I am in the US. I booked directly with MSC on their website. From the T&C, it looks like final payment should be due at 75 days. I received a 7 day warning that my cruise would be canceled if I didn’t make my final payment at the 90 day mark. Looking at my original confirmation, it also has a final payment date at the 90 day mark. Any thoughts on why the due date is not in line with T&C?

  10. Not fake news, but maybe a bad link somewhere. Inspection reports are available here: https://wwwn.cdc.gov/InspectionQueryTool/InspectionSearch.aspx
  11. I also just renewed my passport with no problems. I did change names when I married but my old passport was in my married name. I was able to do online renewal which was very simple. I know that option is currently not available. I only had to go through the whole process of sending birth certificate and marriage license for my original passport application 10+ years ago. The renewal only requires the form, old passport, and new photo if your current name is the same as the name on your old passport. I can’t help but wonder if someone checked the wrong box on OP’s wife’s form or gave them bad advice to send in the birth certificate, etc.
  12. My understanding is that if you have her current passport and her name has not changed since that passport was issued, she does not need to show proof of name change. If her name last changed 30 years ago, the process should be very simple to fill out the form checking no name change and send in the form, old passport, and new photo. What am I missing?
  13. One concern I have with NCL in Alaska is that they have built a new port outside Ketchikan called Ward Cove. They run a shuttle to/from town, but for ships with short port times in Ketchikan you don’t have much time once you take the shuttle back and forth. With other cruise lines you dock right in town.
  14. We used Oli’s Trolley. We were very happy with them.
  15. Can you book directly with MSC and use the 30% discount or do you book through MyVEGAS? If through MyVEGAS, do normal cancellation policies apply or does MyVEGAS charge a cancellation fee?
  16. My recently received passport via online renewal took between 11 and 12 weeks. That was during all of the end of year holidays.
  17. Here is my recent timeline: - Submitted online renewal 11/6 - Received email that my passport was renewed 1/26 so between 11 and 12 weeks for us, but our timeline included quite a few holidays which I am sure slowed things down. If your picture was accepted by the online renewal system, I think you will probably be okay. The system would have most likely rejected it if it didn’t meet standards. I had several rejected before the system accepted one.
  18. Submitted online renewal in early November. I am at over 10 weeks now and still processing.
  19. I think it said in process the first time I checked a few weeks after I submitted.
  20. Apparently submitting by mail is faster than online. I submitted mine online more than a week before you and mine is still processing.
  21. I submitted my renewal online the first week of November. It is still processing, but I am hoping things speed up now that the holidays are over. As a previous poster mentioned, the hardest part was having a photo accepted. Many attempts were rejected without any real explanation why. There are also days when the website doesn’t work. It has to send a six digit code before you can log in, and some days it just doesn’t send the code.
  22. Does anyone understand why they close the laundry room?
  23. I haven’t been on Carnival for a while, but my experience always was that if the menu says an item comes with a certain side or protein, there was no swapping. So there were times when we knew we wouldn’t eat a certain side, but had to take it, even though we would have preferred a side that came with something else. Biggest issue was steak and lobster night. We wanted the steak, but not the lobster tail. Always told them not to bring the lobster, but they always brought it. Fortunately, we usually found a tablemate that wanted it. Point is, unless they have changed, they create some of the waste due to their inflexibility. I have found Princess waiters far more flexible in adjusting orders.
