  1. I thought vote by mail was kind of a cop-out when they first proposed it. We have always voted in person and chatted with neighbors. But it is awesome and so convenient. As I said previously, we don't mail them, but just drop them off in official ballot boxes. And you have a choice, vote in person, vote by mail (postage paid) or drop off at box. I didn't realize what we were missing. We have voted absentee before when we were away before. But this is so convenient. CA program, Ballot Trax, lets us know when our ballots have been received and recorded. 😃
  2. Eyes do feel like that after surgery Bonnie. It is difficult to abide by that don't rub edict. But they do heal very, very quickly. If you can just go to bed this evening and let it rest. It will feel better tomorrow. ☺️
  3. Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup Probably for a large slow cooker. Serves 8 1 store-bought rotisserie chicken 1 cup diced onion 1 cup diced celery 1 cup diced carrots 8 small mushrooms, cut into eighths 3 14-ounce cans low-sodium chicken broth 3 10.75-ounce cans condensed cream of chicken soup Salt and pepper to taste 2 cups egg noodles, cooked (or rotini pasta, rice or farro) 1. Remove the skin from the chicken and shred the meat from the bone. Place the chicken in a slow cooker along with the onion, celery, carrots and mushrooms. 2. Stir in broth and cream of chicken soup. Season with salt and pepper. Cook on high setting for 3 to 4 hours or on low for 8 to 9 hours. 3. Stir in cooked pasta, if desired. Adjust seasonings and serve. Optional: Stir in 2 teaspoons fines herbes (a blend of chervil, chives, parsley and tarragon). — Food Network, contributed by Ro Taylor BUT. I have modified it, because we pretty much only use our little 1.5-quart slow cooker because there are only two of us, and I like less creamy soup. And I don't like cooked carrots or mushrooms. 1/4 cup thinly sliced, chopped celery 1/4 cup finely chopped onion (I use boiler onions because they are little) a little less than 1/2 cup diced rotisserie chicken (frozen leftover from another meal) 1 can Campbell's Cream of Chicken w/herbs I box low sodium chicken broth Add all ingredients and cook as above. When adding the broth to the cooker leave about 3/4 of an inch head space for the noodles. After much experimentation, I have found that Udon Noodles are the most similar to Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup, when cooked and added. For us, it makes about 2 meals/4 servings. We are having it tonight with a fresh baked loaf of Kingsford Bread. It is kind of plain, but easy. With the exception of the celery, I can make it with things I have in the pantry and freezer.
  4. I love your flooring! Is that tile or laminate? And that looks like a really complicated insert. Ours is much simpler, but also doesn't distribute the heat very well.
  5. Interesting! I have never seen a police officer at a polling place. I don't think we have enough police to even do something like that, although I am sure it is not unusual in other places.
  6. When I was a poll worker, if someone was unable to access the polling place, we would take their ballot out to the vehicle or curbside and stay in the vicinity while the ballot was completed. Then their representative would go in with us to observe or feed the ballot into the machine. I think you should have let someone know that assistance was required. I hope you have the opportunity to vote. California is all vote by mail (or in person) now. We complete our ballots at home and then just put them in an unmanned ballot box at a local community center. They are picked up and recorded daily.
  7. HaHaHa. No. It was sold in Altadena, which is down near Los Angeles somewhere. Can you imagine? All that money at one time. I haven't checked our tickets yet, but I don't think we won a thing.
  8. You should probably Google it. There is a lot of information. It led to a change in RC alcohol onboard policies.
  9. This thread has some suggestions: North America Home Ports.
  10. We've stayed there a bunch of times, but always in Condado. Hilton, Marriot and an Embassy Suites. They've always been fine. We have just visited or Ubered to Old town on port stops or pre-cruise.
  11. You should have just told them that you are a dancer/performer, and it was tip money. 😃😋
  12. When my mom had cataract surgery, they invited me into the other room to watch it being performed live on camera. It is fascinating! There was a nurse with me explaining what was going on. She also said that they had discovered the surgery during one of the early wars. A pilot had an exploded cockpit windscreen, and one of the pieces had lodged in his eye, and his vision was greatly improved! Which apparently led to modern day lens replacement. ☺️
  13. I don't recall if I was planning to tie someone up or what. I had a brand-new bundle of clothesline and a whole package of clothes pins. Maybe I was thinking of a crafty project. 🤷‍♀️
  14. We have controlled burns here all the time. But they don't seem to help much. I'm sorry about your washing. But I find it amazing that Australians are so enamored with clotheslines. When our friends from Sydney came to visit, we had to rig up a clothesline in the backyard. (Not a problem ☺️) I just found it different... The majority of folks here. (At least locally) use gas or electric clothes dryers. I think it is probably like your dislike of washcloths, although really, most people use them on faces and not bums. ☺️ I find these different customs absolutely fascinating. ☺️
  15. Ours was the Buy One, Get one half off for MONTHS...$73.99 p/p. And then about two months before sailing, they finally dropped the price to $63.99 p/p.
  16. How funny! I guess they left the support yacht back in California. 😅 https://smdp.com/2021/09/02/theres-always-a-bigger-boat/
  17. I thought about using the word casualty. But there were actually so many of them, that it seemed rather insensitive when discussing tuxedo rentals. 😔
  18. Unfortunately, they are out of pretty much everything on the amenity list though. We don't drink wine and have a linen closet full of RC beach towels. On the last cruise, we received truffles. 3 times 0 available amenities is still 0. ☺️
  19. I don't see anything current about renting a Tux, and I don't think you can do it anymore. I'm sure tailors and rentals were one of the first Covid drops. That link to "Tuxedo Rentals" in the FAQ's doesn't go anywhere, at least with my browsers.
  20. @ReneeFLLNo Worries! We will enjoy your review when you can get to it. Enjoy your cruise! And since we aren't with you, we will enjoy it just as much as if we were. ☺️
  21. There was a brunch on Navigator. I think it had Mimosas, or some such. A server came around with a menu trying to sell it. I asked if it was covered under the UDP, and he said, "No, it is additional charge". I asked why we would want to do that, since we had both the UDP and the DBP? He shrugged. So, I don't know what the story is. I don't think the UDP covers event dining.
  22. I can't sit on the aisle. When I fall asleep, my foot (either one) tends to wander into the aisle. And I would probably trip people. We were flying back from NOLA, and I had an aisle. I would doze off, and then repeatedly awoken with a very kind "Excuse me" from people trying to get past. ☺️ I'm fortunate, Bill lets me take the window, and he takes the middle seat.
  23. We just book Junior Suites and look at it as a hotel room that goes interesting places. Bathroom amenities are not high on our list of vacation requirements. We have our own toiletries, if we find theirs unsatisfactory. Everyone has their own vacation style and priorities. I'm sure there are other cruise line that have better amenities, toiletries, and service overall. We are happy for now. Stopping.
  24. Spring Forward, Fall Back...and it is Wednesday here, Thursday in AR. Not until Saturday night when we change the clocks. And what beautiful photos @aussielozzie18 Jacaranda trees are gorgeous! It is so lovely to see yours as WE head into winter. ☺️
