Seems to me that if Carnival ,Royal Carribean & Norwegian cruise lines were doing so spectacular in their bookings ,prices & profits their stocks prices would be zooming ;but ,that simply is not the case

The refundable is the fact that that cruise price is HALs refundable price .Non Refundable is lower priced at less than the $2988 total price of a refundable cruise price .It had nothing to do with what the amount of the deposit was which in that pricing case is also refundable ;but ,only because of the higher pricing quoted.

Here is my original post : We were speaking to HAL today ,With regards to a March 23 ,2024 Mexican Riviera cruise on koningsdam .Shocked to learn that a refundable deposit on a VH cat handicap with Club Orange for upgrade was $2988 for 2 refundable deposit cruise fares .The Club Orange added a total of $350 to the over all cost . Port taxes are $135 per pax included in the dare above. No on board credit In 2019 that cruise would have been about $1700 for 2 people .Taking off Club Orange at $25 per day per person ,the fare comes down to $2638 . $ 938,00 more than we once paid.That is a rather substantial increase in a cruise fare Now that $2988 was a price for 2 in a veranda VH for a 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise.The fares were a refundable pricing.If we wanted to upgrade with club orange the cost per person was $25 per day or $350 total for the cruise . What I was comparing to was 2019 prices for the same 7 night Mexican riviera cruise on Koningsdam & the whopping price increases I don't get were you are coming from .The whole issue is very very high prices on new cruises introduced by HAL .The only way we can afford to go will be on substantial decreased prices after final payment & a cabin selection we can tolerate . The percent increase is huge in 3 years far exceeding the inflation rates for those 3 years .

That is a lot of money going into a slot machine which is a computer . These are the bandits that take up the mist square feet in any casino on land or at sea .The reason is that they make the biggest contributions to the casino .The best game on any casino is the dice table which gives true odds & a easy game to play .so the casino entices people to play the slots where they make the most profits .

Celebrity gave us both discounted rates plus ppd gratuities The Classic drink package & free Wifi on B2B cruises .This was a blue Chip Deal ,theRCL/Celebrity Casino dept

what are you & them talking about .I am here & willing to answer all inquiries . I been here all the time & those comments are un called for . I do not duck issues of any kind, so please state what you want to discuss ? I still maintain that HAL's initial cruise prices are far too high for the value received if you buy from them . We are now totally convinced we will only book after final payment if we can get a suitable cabin ,at lower prices .being retired has it's advantages . We will definitely book on a cruise if possible & it is after final payment for the new cruise .We are not interested in paying Carnival Corp. debt load

It has always been a puzzle how the casino department picks people for cruise discounts. We got them on Celebrity cruises for basically playing craps occasionally .I would never play slots unless it was a Fun slot Pull with people from our roll call .Then we put in $15 & play the $5 slot which in slot play gets better odds . So I stopped trying to figure how the casino awards those free cabins or deep discounts

We had Star Link on 2 B2B recent March Celebrity cruises . To say the lease it was out about 35% out & was not working .As a side note HAL's new Pinnacle class ships has far better TV than Celebrity .More movies by far & better reception

Mary enjoy your retirement to the fullest . Wish we could go back 24 years when I retired . Not so much for lack of cruises ;but ,We should have made more land trips to our National Parks & monuments where it is the real beauty of our country

That is interesting ,as we are now dissolving our time share with Marriott . The time frame according to a letter we received is to be out of the time share in 120 days closing .We no longer can make effective use .When you are young it is the next best thing to ice cream .Especially going to foreign countries where time share trades are readily available

Mary no one knows how much time they have left on this planet .we look back & we been retired 24 years now . We take one day at a time . Yes make the best use of what God gives to you & what He asks of all of us

We are not quit cruising .We have not quit cruising as we have a 18 night Hawaii cruise yet to come which we booked at a excellent value cost.What is ridiculous are the new current cruise prices for what the pax is now getting in return . However ,each to their own idea of value We simply will wait until after the final payment dates to track a cruise we may be interested in booking ,if we can then get a cabin we can live with . We certainly will be able to see what prices a Mexican Riviera cruise close to March 2024 while we are on Koningsdam Hawaii cruise Jan 30,2024 as a example .If we can get a great deal ,we would book it while on the ship & most likely get extra on board credits along with a much lower booking price .This would make sense to us .since we no longer fly ,we are only interested in Mexico & Hawaii from our home port of San Diego which is 28 miles from out home .Makes it very convenient Still opening prices are super high & not worth the value imo . We have done over 90 past cruises ,so we can discriminate

Thanks .We will only miss the Eclipse part as we have been to all these ports more than once which when we discussed what we would be paying for a outside handicap EE category ,it made us think it was too much to pay & no balcony ;as this ship requires booking suites to get a balcony Many people have yet to experience many Mexican Riviera ports & many are really wonderful to experience .

We are more cautious considering the condition of the national debt ,so instead of cruises we are adding more precious metals to our portfolio . Seems to me that is the wise thing to do with escalating prices for every thing . With 70% of our population living from pay check to pay check what truly does the future hold for our country ? We came from a generation of savers not spenders .Thus ,we have been through hard times most people have not

We did book it in December; but we canceled it just recently .The booking was for 14 night Zaandam Mexico Eclipse .We just can't see $5600 for a outside cabin deck 3 .HAL is refunding $200 deposit for 2 of us

Emirates has money to burn & no doubt will cater to their kind with regards to customs ,good ie . The Branson thing was space not the cruise line as I recall .Imo .the smaller independent like a Viking will weather the storm better than the major players . It doesn't take thousands to fill viking ocean ships & remember they are very strong in the river cruise business .Oceana also comes to mind

How do the major cruise lines afford new ships with the huge debt they must service? Additionally, as the Federal Reserve raises interest rates to fight inflation that places another huge strain on the cruise lines free cash flow .Not good news for the cruise lines .Just the facts
