  1. OP is a new poster and possible troll. I would suggest if the OP had a degree in Botany or Horticulture that they would know about basic protocol about the need for an inspection certificate from the Department of Agriculture of that State or Province to move a plant from one area to another. We have enough issues in CA with the Mediterranean Fruit Fly, Oriental Fruit Fly, Glassy Winged Sharpshooter, False Coddling Moth, European Grapevine Moth, Asian Citrus Physllid, Gypsy Moth, and dozens more. Job security for me, millions of dollars in loss to growers and to our parks and forests due to non-native invasive species hitchhiking in unknowingly or selfishly brought in for personal pleasure.

  2. On our NCL Gem New England Cruise a year ago we headed to O'Sheehan's for our first lunch after boarding. A "lady" came in and ordered the chicken pot pie, the same as what we ordered. She became incensed that it wasn't ready seconds after sitting down. The server explained that they were coming out of the oven and would be served soon. This lady wanted to speak to the Head Chef she ranted and yelled that the service was not satisfactory, they should have anticipated her coming and need to be served. Sad to say watching this whole show was better than reality TV.

  3. . I just wanted to share my experiences, and after checking I have seen other people with same problem. They might be ok if you don't need a refund. I have now disputed the charges with the bank.

Thank you! My DH has been considering booking through Choice Air and I have a not so good feeling about this. I would rather he book a major airline even if it cost a few bucks more. I like being in control of the reservation.

  4. Go and have a great time. Remember there are same sex people sharing cabins all the time and it is nobody's business what the relationship is. Take your Husband and make some great memories! You will have a good time and I hope you enjoy cruising, we do!

My husband and I are booked on Carnival Inspiration for the September 25, 2017 trip. Neither of us have ever been on a cruise and are curious as to how a gay couple will be received on the cruise. I still have time to cancel the reservation based on the replies I receive here.
  5. I agree, we were in a Suite...most economical for 4 adults last May. If I had to do it over again I would have booked to Ocean View rooms or 2 insides. You really aren't in the room much at all on this cruise. I will say the inside rooms and most rooms on this particular ship are small.....very small.

I can't help you directly with the Ocean View cabins, but I will say this: the POA is such a port intensive cruise that you're really not in your cabin except to sleep overnight while the ship sails between ports. If you're like most others (including us) you'll be off the ship from after breakfast to before dinner in every port.
  6. Glad you are going to make the cruise! We will be on this trip with you and have been facing some issues with dear MIL. Three ER visits within the last 3 weeks and one hospitalization. We are grateful that the other family members will be returning home this week to take care of Mom so we can get some much needed R&R. I hope that there is a last minute booking that will allow you to be in one cabin. The 2 bedroom suite is awesome, we had this cabin on the Jade and our luggage got to use the second bedroom. We got a GREAT deal on an upgrade. The bathtub overlooking the ocean is the BEST. Just make sure you are not in the tub while in port...this is when they wash the windows...including the bathtub window. I heard them and looked and saw them and got out FAST! LOL. I can only imagine the things the window washers have seen.

    Thank you!

We are on the Jewel and we accepted a upsell from the upsell department. Jewel had not switched over to new bidding system yet. As of now, we have my Husband and 6 year old,son in the suite I and my 6 year old Daughter in the connected minisuite. We would like them switch me and my son so I could have suite benefits with my Husband. It sounds like that might be a problem because my kids are so young. Waiting to hear back from PCC on this matter. I wonder if they can make the switch on the ship

  7. If you are concerned there are locking tethers and computer pouches with tethers on a most popular shopping website for under $25.00. I take our computer and leave it in a drawer out of sight. I don't worry about the crew messing with it, but remove temptation for passer by's when the door is left propped open during cleaning.

  8. Red Wine, Chocolate and too much SUN are triggers for me. I am so sorry that this happened on your cruise and Migraines are so random and hopefully you can figure out what the trigger was.

DD and I were on a 7 day cruise. Everything was fine until day 6. DD developed a severe migraine. We were wondering if anyone else ever had this experience and if so, what did you do for it?

    Thanks!

  9. When looking at the Brochure, one ship is in Italy and one ship in the US. Both ships look like Celebrity ships though. Great pictures of the ship in the brochure. I haven't been on a Celebrity ship yet....trip coming up, but a seasoned Celebrity cruiser might be able to tell which ship by the posted pictures.

Was looking around and found what looks like two M-Class ships for sale. Not totally surprising with the new Edge class coming onboard soon. Or maybe Celebrity is just seeing if there is any interest?

I'm sure someone can figure out which ships they are.

  10. I can't for the life of me get excited over someones nicknames for words and no need for a poll. As long as I understand the concept of the post that is all that really matters. For the snarky comments on grammar and spelling and punctuation there needs to be a little more tolerance. Not everyone here has English as their first language, may suffer from dyslexia or have a physical impairment that makes communicating difficult.

I love reading CC for concepts, tips and reviews of cruisers vacations. Please continue to post even if you use cutesy words or forget a comma or capital or a period. It is all good, I like reading them anyway.

  11. Doing one in 2 weeks. This will be our 3rd Pacific Coastal cruise in 7 years. We live on the west coast so appreciate not having to fly both ways. This is a relaxing vacation to restore our minds and bodies and usually short enough to squeeze in a recuperation vacation without burning too many vacation days. I do wish that there were better itineraries for the Pacific Coast that included more overnights in San Francisco. There are so many great cities up and down the coast that could be visited in a 7 to 12 day cruise. There would need to be a stop in Ensenada and/or Vancouver to meet the foreign port requirement of the PVSA (should be repealed), but there are so many places to see on a West Coast cruise. There could be stops San Diego to Long Beach, Catalina, Port Hueneme, Santa Barbara, Monterey, San Francisco, Astoria, Seattle and Vancouver. There could be a longer cruise if cruise lines then went up to Alaska. Unless there is a demand for such cruises, I doubt if it will happen.

  12. Booze and Bingo and Bets at the Casino

are big $$$ maker for all cruise lines.

On our first cruise in 2005 played bingo. We had an inside room and I ended up winning an owners suite. It was an amazing upgrade from an inside room and a great Birthday gift. We haven't played bingo since our second cruise because the prices have gone up so much.

  13. Don't feel bad......I didn't press the decimal point in my electric bill this month.....try getting a refund from the electric company....like pulling hens teeth and it isn't a small amount either. I feel your pain. I hope you get your situation fixed in a shorter than 3 week estimated time SCE is quoting me.

I know, I know... Not paying attention, didn't click the payment button, put my credit card info in, and bammo, cruise is paid off. Oops... Is it easy to get the funds returned? Ugh... Will be calling later...
  14. Review Your Travel Agent on a social media page is a great way to evaluate the good, the bad and the ugly of Travel Agents. Some TA's are just $$$ collectors while others are AMAZING at creating a memorable vacation experience. There is no way to know who to go to. Thankfully the Social Media and great sites like this help advise passengers of some of the pitfalls of traveling.

I'll add one more thing here. Be sure you have a really good TA to go to bat for you...not sure the big box travel sites will do that. I had a cruise booked on Azamara that got chartered out after I booked. Granted, it was 2 years out but I did tell my TA what I would counter and she went to bat for me.

I'm really sorry to read all the stress this has caused for so many...horrible experience and X should do something to make sure this never happens again. It's very shameful on their part to say the least.

  15. We have our first Celebrity cruise scheduled for September and have a sweet sixteen cabin booked. I am hoping that this situation is a one off event and that we aren't given the Friendly Skies treatment like a April Celebrity Cruiser. What a headache, not a good way to start a vacation.

I've been a NCL cruiser for a while. I was looking to try a different cruise line next year. Phew! This turns me off! I hope this is a one time thing and not a example of their Standard Operating Procedure.
  16. 9 min by car and a 30 to 45 minute walk from the Santa Barbara zoo. I am pretty sure that the Tender dock is pretty close to the pier. The zoo is a great little zoo and there are things to see and do along the way. My DH and I go up to the zoo to walk around. It is a very small zoo but has a great variety of animals. There are parks along the way for kids to play in on Cabrillo Bl.

Can anyone give feedback if it is worth it to go to the Santa Barbara Zoo? Also, how far is it from the port and how can you get there since there are no excursions offered from Princess. Thanks
  17. The least expensive wine I could find on NCL website. I can bring a better quality of wine to my liking and even with the corkage fee will be better off taste wise and $$$ wise.

    HOUSE SPARKLING WINE

    Price:

    $ 25 96

Might as well leave it at home unless you want to pay the $15 per bottle corkage fee.
  18. What rental car companies service the World Cruise Center?

There are two rental car companies located in Downtown San Pedro near the World Cruise Center that offer free customer pick-ups and drop-offs to the terminal. Both convenient locations operate Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and closed Sunday.
