  1. About 10 mins; exit station building to right, either cross over the forecourt and down the steps and cross the road, or continue along the path and down the slope past hotels and across various minor roads then cross the main road when you can see the giant sailor and girlfriend statue by the waterside. Either way keep the water front on your left as you walk to the port gate bus pick up area which is just past a row of sales kiosks/shops.

    Thanks,

The last time I was there was with the limo transfer.

I may like to take the train to Rome if I don't find people to share the transportation. My flight to London will be in the afternoon.

  2. I've taken the Rome to Civitavecchia train and always been at an outlying track in Civitavecchia requiring going down steps, through the tunnel under other tracks and up the stairs to the Civitavecchia station. How do you identify "correct" trains with no stairs. [i assume there is a way to tell this that I hope to learn about].

    thanks

    Thom

    Hi Thom,

How far the walk from the Station to the gate of port for the shuttle bus?

Or how long it takes to walk?

  3. We were on the Century in October' date=' and had a TERRIBLE butler. Any time we asked for any assistance we were told "I am new to Celebrity, and don't know". He was worthless. And yes, the "basket of fruit" was 3 apples on a plate.

That experience was our first and LAST on Celebrity.[/quote']

I was in a suite on my last Transatlantic. The 1st time I met my Butler was on the 4th. Day After I told the other guests in suite about the incident without a butler for 3 days.:confused::confused:

That was the worst Butler experience I ever had.

  4. After reading about many long delay and missed flights, because of customs delays, last season, due to 'sequester' (did I get that right? Please don't flame me if not :() - Has this issue been resolved this cruising season?

Not too many people have posted - Does this mean all is good? We're sailing out on the Eclipse on a very busy port day(Saturday) along with four others. We arrive back 2 weeks later, again, with four others - both include the port pig, "Oasis" :D. They will be in the better berth.

We'd originally booked our flight at noon - the recommended minimum. Now, the airline has moved it to 11:20. Last year, we self-disembarked and were at FLL by 8am, but that was on a Friday with NO port load.

Any comments of your experiences from those of you recently arrived back most appreciated!!!

Next time I will do express walk off.

The wait for custom is unbelievable :mad::mad:

  5. I use that adapter also, but for a docking station, it might not work because the iPad or iPod has to sit on the dock connection and the adapter just might sit it too high.

You might get a 30-pin to Lightning adapter that has a cord between them so it can lay next to it. Haven't seen the docking stations in the Suites, but mine at home wouldn't hold my iPad up with the adapter connected. IPods are smaller so it might not be an issue.

    Den

Yes you are right.it wont hold the ipad right up.For ipod it should be no problem.

  6. I am confused. Given the information above, you had to have had at least 8 old points (even if all 8 of your celebrity cruises were less than 5 days in inside cabins). That would have converted to 240 new points and I am pretty sure people with 8 points were given an additional 25 point bonus so that a 7-night cruise in Concierge Class would make them elite. How do you figure you need 3 more cruises?

If you really completed 8 cruises on Celebrity and need three more to make elite, then I can understand and agree with your frustration. But I really think you have mis-calculated.

    265+3(inside cabin) of 7 nights cruise =307

  7. Unfortunately we live in a time when strict security is necessary to protect us from terrorists and mass murderers. Unfortunately it is often difficult to understand where to draw the line.

That is very true for the safety of others. They did the right thing and I will never give them hard time doing their job as told.;)

  8. The rewards on RCCL are far better for each level than X or HAL....DON'T take my word for it ...look them up and be fair and real......D+ on RCCL is like Zenith on X and 5 star on HAL. I would take RCCL EVERY time if the price was the same and the itinerary was the same. RCCL has better ships (newer and refurbished ) and BIGGER with more ship board activities. I will admitt that X and HAL may ( MIGHT ) have better food.

    I am Elite on X

4 star on HAL (after my next cruise)

    D+ on RCCL

For a total of about 75 cruises (500 days)

You telling me the rewards from Zenith member is not better than Pinacle member:confused::confused::confused:

Free premium drinks, almost like Free unlimited internet and Free laundry and etc.....

    Am I missing something:confused::confused::confused:

  9. I am somewhat confused. We've booked three cruises before November 25, all are sailing in 2014. Will I then get the new point system for these cruises in 2014? Or am I under the old point system.

We are Elite+, and will never get to Zenith because of our age :-).

    Thanks.

What ever cruise start after Nov. 25th. will be on New points system.

  10. On Silhouette and haven't read other posts. Sorry, can't be positive about the program as it has been designed to cut cost rather than rewarding frequent cruisers. Given my booked and fully paid cruises I only needed 4 points to reach the 100 point leve. Now I need at leat 40 additional cruises to move up. Basically wherever most are under the new program they will remain there for a very long time. The idea seems to be to make it so difficult to reach the Zenith level that no one will ever reach it. At least Celebrity could use the conversion formula for cruises completely paid for that were paid in full before the announcement of e new program. A good marketing strategy would be to allow for at least three months to book and pay in full for cruises that could help one to reach a new level. My booking pattern will certainly change. Doubt if I'll take more than 1 or2 Cruises with Celebrity a year. Currently take 14. Means noing to Celebrity since they can always fill my slots.

You not that far from Zenith level.

    Keep cruising:D:D:D

  11. Things might not turn out too bad for you. If you login on the X website and select 'sailing history' you get a sneak (Split second) preview of your level/points in the new layout.

I saw that I was granted an extra 30 points, i.e. 1 extra tier point.

Should that be done in your case, it would mean that you'd be Elite by the time you board your ship.

Thank you,I will try to forget this and just enjoy my cruise:D:

  12. Some of you feel that all cruisers are created equal. One books an inside cabin on a Mediterranean cruise and pays $1,199.00. Another books the Penthouse Suite and pays $10,619.00. Which one is more valuable to Celebrity?? Why would they not give one who pays 8 times as much for the same ride not deserve a larger reward? Why does first class on American Airlines gives double miles. Could it be because the ride cost 10 times as much as economy coach?

If you had a candy store, would you sell a 10 ounce bag of candy for the same price as a 2 ounce bag of candy?

Get real! As I said before, X is not in the business of giving away services and product for free. It is not the Celebrity Socialized Cruise Line. They are not obligated to hand out rain checks. They aren't even obligated to follow the booked itineraries let alone have a loyalty program.

Accept what they offer with a smile and spend your effort planning another cruise or an RV trip.

Just like someone say,I give you an inch you want a foot.

  13. Actually, on 14 day cruises it will still be slower - unless as mentioned you're in the top grade cabins.

For example, 14 days in inside. Old = 2 credits = 60 points equiv. New prog = 28 points (assuming per day credits)

14 in outside = 2 credits = 60 points equiv. New prog = 28 points (assuming per day credits)

14 in balcony = 2 credits = 60 points equiv. New prog = 42 points (assuming per day credits)

14 in CC = 3 credits = 90 points equiv. New prog = 70 points (assuming per day credits)

In all these situations, for a 14 day cruise, you will progress slower.

It's only in the high end suites that you'll be ahead in the new program.

To be ahead of the game, book a concierge or above cabin for a 7 nights cruise and book a suite or higher for a 14 nights cruise.

  14. Well, no, you progress faster (or at least the same) in a concierge class or above.

As said before, you'll be laughing if you only travel in Royal suites or similar!

But also as said yesterday for most passengers, it will be slower progress in the new program.

Yes you are right,if you are booked concierge and above you will move faster to the next lever base on a 7 days cruise.

They have set up a very good marketing strategic to promote higher prices cabins.

  15. That's my interpretation. No bonus for anticipating a new level. There was no rational expectation to qualify for something that had never been defined (or even acknowledged) by Celebrity. But that didn't stop some people from making plans and feeling entitled to be made whole based only on their assumptions.

It does seem to me that the growth to upper levels has been slowed down while keeping all who have already qualified. Now by possibly creating three methods for distributing the most popular benefit (free drinks) into Michael's Club for Zenith and top suites, the Lounge for Elite+ and vouchers for Elite, the crowding issues may be improved. And attrition by age or displeasure causing some to change cruise lines will also have some impact.

My prediction is Michael's club for elites + and above and sky lounge for Elites;)

  16. I cannot see on my computer what my points are - a MacBook Pro - the screen won't stay up.

So my question is this - I only have a lowly 4 pts right now so I'm guessing that I'll get 120 credits, last cruise was in Concierge so don't know if we get anything extra.

My next sailing on Eclipse 14 nights in a lowly Sky suite - would get us 8x14 = 112 plus our 120 =232 is that correct? Which would equal Select.

Next booked cruise on Infinity 15 nights in Concierge 5x15=75 plus our 232 = 307 IS THAT ELITE? Under the old program after the Infinity cruise we would be Elite and am hoping under the new system that it is still the case.

Anyone that can see the screen wanna help me here.

Yes you will be Elite after your Infinity cruise.

    See you at Sky lounge.

    Enjoy your cruises.

  17. :D:D:D

Sorry, you need to review my post, I didn't say I KNEW it would be 25 points, but that it was EXPECTED by many, looking at the RCCL model. And, in fact, that was what happened, so the expectations were proven to be correct.

And it is not stretching at all to expect fairness. If you are going to give bonus points to one group to achieve an end that they have a right to expect, you'd better have a darned good reason not to give them to clients who have demonstrated their loyalty for longer, and with more $$$. And in my opinion, your argument doesn't cut it. If they had handled it like RCCL, giving bonus points to everyone, they wouldn't have a problem.

And I don't have a horse in this race. I am well into the Elite Plus level.

If you review my post from few months back ,you can tell that Celebrity is copying my idea of points conversion:D:D:D

May be my computer been hacked

  18. Pardon my for saying so, my intention is not to be argumentative but I really feel that that is a specious argument. Everyone that I know expected that there would be a new Elite Plus level, and that it would be set at 25 points, as on RCCL. And the reality is, they were right. A new level at 750 points was created. I exist in a hotbed of Celebrity cruisers and they were all working just as hard to get to 25 points. What makes their efforts any less worthy than people who only had 8 point?

I feel that Loracpin is just as entitled to bonus points as someone with 8 (240) points. After all, she has spent in the range of 3 times as much to get to 720 points as someone who has gotten to 240 points.

If you are going to give freebie points to some, you should give them to all, and let the chips fall where they may. That's what RCCL did.

This is what I call Prejudice or another word Discrimination:D:D:D

  19. I have two points to make here:

First: How do you know that they are not giving the same amount of bonus points to those above Elite?

It appears the only people receiving bonus points are those very close to a tier, within one cruise. Until we either see some reports from Elite members in a similar situation (within one cruise of a tier above Elite) or until they release the criteria for those receiving a "bonus", which they may never do, we won't know if these people will receive a bonus or not. Remember the bonus points are not being awarded to everyone - just those very close to a new tier.

Second, even if they don't award the bonus points to those very close to Elite+ or Zenith the situation is different. In the cases we've seen someone might have been working a plan to get to Select or Elite and been just about there. But no one could have had specific plans to meet a level they didn't know anything about and which hasn't even actually been announced yet.

Do you think I should be given the BONUS POINT as I am just 1 point short to the next tier and I will be on the transatlantic cruise in a week time?:mad::mad:

  20. We are just 30 points short of Elite plus. If the poster who predicted that it would be 30 points per old point PLUS 50 more, we would have been there. Never mind, hope one more cruise (already booked and paid in full) will do it.

I am on the same boat as you,one 30 points short to be the next tier.

I may not make it to the next tier either After my next cruise if they change to days system:mad::mad::mad:
