Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. First time on NCL. We are on Breakaway out of Rome 6/5. I understand needing reservations for the specialty restaurants and I’ve already booked those but are reservations really necessary for the two main dining rooms? There’s only 2 of us and don’t mind waiting 10-15 minutes for a table because we really don’t want to be tied to a specific time every night, especially after being on excursions all day. Thank you
  2. I can’t say for 100% but I just booked an accessible cabin n the Breakaway and cabins were extremely limited to mostly inside cabins.
  3. I plan on making my daily donation to the Casino and don’t like to charge it to my Sign & Sail account because that just makes it too easy to overspend. Considering that the casino is the only place you use actual cash, do the slots take US currency or Euros? Similarly, what currency do you cash out in? We’re leaving out of Italy and doing Italy and Greece. Thanks
  4. Does anyone know how much laundry is on the Breakaway? We’ll be traveling for over 2 weeks and will probably need some laundry done. Thanks.
  5. I’ve cruised many times but never with NCL or in Europe. We are leaving from Rome and I have a few questions. 1. What time do you arrange your transport from Rome to port. Ship leaves at 5pm and I know it’s about an hour drive so I was thinking to have a nice leisurely breakfast in Rome and arranging transport for 11:30ish? Does that work? 2. Because the ship is doing Greece and Italy, do the regular dining room menus reflect that? I don’t really want to eat traditional “American” food. I want to enjoy the flavors of the Mediterranean. 3. My friend is a huge tennis fan. I assume that she’ll be able to get nightly highlights of the French Open in one of the sports bars? 4. Because Med cruises are so port intensive with early morning excursions in most ports, is it still pretty active at night? Or is it pretty quiet at night? 5. I know ship docks in early A.M. If I arrange transport back to Rome around 10:30ish, does that allow plenty of time to get back to Rome, checking to hotel and be at Colosseum for a 2:45 tour? 6. this may be an off the wall question but has anyone who has been to Rome ever been to the venue where they play the Italian Tennis Open? I said she was a huge tennis fan and she would love to see that venue. Is it open to the public just to look around? Sorry for all the questions….and I’m sure I’ll think of more. Thank you for any help I can get. This is my dream trip and I just want it to be perfect.
  6. To me, the biggest benefit would be having the entire reservation….air, hotel, transport and cruise….under one reservation with one central contact point. However, if they are using a hotel that is not central to the sightseeing plans we have for our Rome time, then it would negate any pluses.
  7. Exactly what is included in specialty restaurants? Do you get an appetizer, soup/salad, entree and dessert. Can you order more than one app or dessert?
  8. We are booked for June out of Rome. We are planning 1 night before cruise and 2 nights after. Does anyone know what hotels NCL typically uses in Rome if we book through them.
