They have a cute little welcome dance and band on the pier.  Also they have a little pirate show and a guitar player singing in the big cabana.  They also have some go to food at the shack shake.  Chicken sandwiches, burgers and Funnel cakes!  They are very tasty and I am not a fan of Royal's food.  They also have a huge swim up pool bar with music for a complete party experience.

@irishgal432  We did the full-day Athens & Corinth tour with a driver and guide. We left the port area and went straight to the canal, then Corinth, then the Acropolis, time for lunch (on our own but with suggestions) and then a drive around the city including watching the changing of the guard before returning to our ship.

Thank you!  We will do the full day!

We got off and bought the ticket at the harbour for Oia. That cost 30Euro (payable in cash or card) for an adult and covered the boat to Oia and a direct bus back to Fira. We didn't use or investigate the public bus. There was no queue for the boat to Oia or the bus to Fira.

The coast walk sounds incredible but the day we were there it would have been too hot for us.to do that. The boat journey from the harbour to Oia harbour is approx 20mins. That probably translates to a 2 - 3 hour walk.

You most likely considered this but you can factor getting off your ship first but the other ships in port could have thousands of people already disembarked.

I had checked. We have 4 ships in port. UGH!  We get in with msc at 7,so that is why we went with the RC excursion to get us off first and tickets already bought for the cable car.  We are late September so for sure will have to factor the weather.  We can  catch the bus back to Fira and do a shorter roundtrip walk.  Have to look at things to do in Fira as far as resturants and sites.

  4. We head out soon!  We are doing the Oia on your own to avoid the choas.  We get off first and get to oia quickly. hopefully.  Our plan is to walk along the cost versus using the bus to return.  Does the public bus stop at multiple places in case we do not want to do the whole six mile trek. Also do you have to have euros or can you use apple pay?

  5. The sewer problem was probably from the trap valve getting stuck. Happened to us.  As far as overcrowding goes, yes it will be crowded.  Royal's marketing plan of kids sail free has filled the ship with many under 12is 3 and 4 person rooms.  Try Celebrity. Their suite program is heads and shoulders above Royal although their entertainment is a little below.

    Hello

I have cruised before, but I have my first cruise on Royal Caribbean next February.

I have booked a Grand Suite on the Independence Of The Seas on a Caribbean cruise.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated. One question that I have is, on Labadee, do I need to pay for beach chairs on Barefoot Beach? I’m not interested in the cabana’s.

    Many thanks

No on the beach chairs.  Labadee has a suite beach with a seperate dining area. Good for a base, howevermake sure to walk around the island. They have a suite shuttle that can take you where you want to go.

    To name a few.

You get priority boarding, look for the suite entrance.  You get breakfast in Chops. You get tiered pool seating with towels next to the bar. Free drinks in the concierge lounge from 5-8.

We are 8 people coming off Royal Caribbean Voyager of the seas in Ravenna port.  Looking for reasonably priced, but easy (i.e. no train) transfer from Ravenna to Venice-Piazzale Roma.

So far, I have a van booked for 400 euro.  Is that a decent price for a 8 person van?

What are our other options?  Are there taxis or rideshares that hold 4 adults and 4 large suitcases or would we likely need 4 taxis/rideshares?  About how much would those options cost?  Would it be easy to get a taxi/rideshare coming off the ship with 3000 other people looking to do the same?

What is the name of the company you are using?  We have the shuttle booked for our group of 12 but it would be nice to go private?
