Welcome to the HAL forum! First suggestion is to read the current posts and any Live From information about Rotterdam specifically. Use the search function at the top right of this page and type in Rotterdam. Then come back here to ask more specific questions!

@brazilgirl Hello! I remember you from the Crystal forum quite a few years ago. I enjoyed your reports then and am happy to see you back cruising! I did think of you when Brazil was having so many problems but now you are in Portugal. I hope you like your new home and that it's much more peaceful there. Thank you for these beautiful pictures and showing Korcula. Croatia has been over touristed it seems so it's good to hear the smaller ports are still so enjoyable. I like the size of Oosterdam and her sister ships. Enjoy the rest of your trip and I'll be watching here for more posts and pictures! ~Nancy

Thank you. I did book the hotel and also asked for a quiet room. The "Ocean View" rooms from what I can tell are the ones facing the ocean (of course!) and street/nightclub so I made sure to book the non-ocean view room which looks like it faces more toward the mountains on the other side of the hotel. We'll find out, I guess. It's just so convenient for my needs and the rooms do look nice and new! @suech1970 would you come back here and report your experience if you get a chance, please? I'll do the same but am not going until mid-April 2025. ~Nancy

Very nice first post @Silverdarling13! Welcome! I have taken one Hurtigruten (in 2005) and one Havila (2024) coastal voyage, which were fabulous. I would highly recommend the coastal voyages but for a different type of trip these Signature Voyages look very nice. If I decide to return to the area, I will seriously consider a Signature trip next time. Thanks for the information. ~Nancy

My first HAL cruise on Zuiderdam in 2006 stopped in Acapulco. We were warned at that time to be careful off the ship, so I took a HAL excursion to the cliff divers and through the city on a bus. There were reports that a couple passengers were pickpocketed very near the port. No violent crime reported though. ~Nancy

@Keith1010 do those London phone booths still have phones in them? I was last there in 2005. ~Nancy

I have cruised on NA in Alaska from Vancouver several times and I believe that any veranda on deck six (other than in the very forward few cabins) will be great! Deck 6 is my preferred location on NA! ~Nancy -
On Zuiderdam from Ft. Lauderdale to Ijmuiden NL last May the time changes were at 2:00am. I think different captains do it different ways. I would probably prefer the change at noon but haven't experienced that. It seems like the crew would like noon better so their overnight sleep is not cut. 🤷♀️

Incorrect! Surge protector cords are prohibited on all cruise lines that I know of and will be confiscated upon boarding! Bring a non-surge protector cord if you want. Welcome to Cruise Critic @Gotohull! Some advice on CC may not mesh with the cruise lines posted policies so always read the official policy before you board! From the HAL website prohibited items list: Electrical devices such as small fans, multi plug box outlets/adaptors, power strips/extension cords with surge protectors. What items are prohibited on board Holland America cruises ~Nancy

You can order canned or bottled water in the Lido, MDR and specialty restaurants as well as all the bars. Yes, a free glass of water is available all those places as well as your cabin. ~Nancy

Did you ask for some?

Welcome to Cruise Critic and cruising @newcruiserny! I've been drinking ship tap water since 1982. It's fine. You can put your water bottle or any other drinks you pick up at the bars in the fridge to keep cold and your steward will keep your cabin ice bucket full if you request it. Have a wonderful time! ~Nancy
