Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Jeremiah, not saying there aren't Celebrity cruises that have a lower than 200% supplement. There are web sites where you can find cruises with reduced or no supplements. All some folks here are saying is when you look to specific cruises at popular times the upcharge for going single is substantial and I don't think at all justified. Especially for the Retreat where most things are included.
  2. As recent widower I now travel as a solo. Just priced 7 day Alaska in Retreat least expensive cabin and it was $2000 more to go single vs double. That's almost $300 a day extra to be one person less. Makes no sense. Next they will be charging extra if you refuse to gamble, buy art work or get the photo package. I like Celebrity and have been on 32 cruises but this is outrageous!
  3. Thanks to all for suggestions and advice. I submitted another contact us form as suggested by Grandma Cruising. I really don't see how these folks stay in business - we had another cruise on Oceania prior to this one - took me five minutes to cancel. Amazing how people are discussing strategies to contact them on this forum. That should tell you all you need to know.
  4. They may not be going under, but they certainly act like they are. I have been trying to cancel a cruise due to wife's health for a month. A cruise line that is savy would have already rebooked our cabin. Since Azamara still doesn't know we aren't going our cabin will go empty even though I have tried all forms of communication - (ie email gets you an automated response suggesting you call them). Cruise leaves in 3 days.....
  5. Thanks for suggestions. Insurance doesn't work off you can't show that you actually canceled.
  6. My wife has a terminal disease that was diagnosed after final payment. Trying to cancel but no one answers the phone. Can't be on hold forever, caring for her. I just want to cancel so I could file a claim with my credit card company to recover some of the lost money, but I can't because they don't answer the phone. Very frustrating - anyone have ideas on how to get thru?
  7. You’re welcome and the boat is full, complete, no vacancy, no room. Just in case anyone wonders😎
  8. I’ll answer my own question as am now on POA. It was worth it. As promised by NCL rep, reservations would be plentiful for suite passengers once on board. All requested times were available. Concierge did advise booking with rep available in Cagney’s for embarkation lunch. and yes ship was sold out. In other news, all venues are now open including Key West Grill. Staffing seems fine, service excellent and recent redo of interiors makes ship feel much newer and nicer than when aboard eight years ago.
  9. Not helpful. Norwegians sister line Oceania sends you a notice when reservations are open for your cabin level. I had no idea bookings opened 130 days before. Hopemlady who told me 80% are held till after departure.
  10. Considering signing up for extra premium dining, but concerned we might not be able to get reservations as some venues are still closed I think. I called and couldn't get anything at an early time, but they said most of the tables are released after then cruise starts. Also said not to worry as we are in a penthouse. But I just didn't want to spend the money if the only time we could eat was past our bedtime.
  11. On this cruise too - interesting music choices. On two occasions the music track played in Pinnacle Grill included the same tune used in Celebrity ads. So while enjoying my meal I was envisioning sailing off into the sunset on an Edge class ship
  12. Can't get mine to work. Just got a email from Air Canada reminding me to fill out ArriveCan for Oct 3rd flight. But if you click on link it says not required. Confusing times....
  13. Sorry I didn't mention the date, ArriveCan was dropped as of October 1st, so I guess you just missed not having to do it.
  14. Just got email from HAL saying if fully vaccinated testing not required and ArriveCan is gone too. Their website still recommends using Verifly for easier checkin but can't complete it without submitting test result. Anyone got any ideas? We're on Nieuw Statendam Oct 8th Quebec to Miami.
  15. Right and only 'free' for one person. Don't get me started on the 'free' specialty dining.
