  1. This is not unique to peanut butter or to the US FDA; similar standards are in many countries that inspect food and have food standards.
  2. Our recent (2022) favorites were Hibachi at Izumi and Giovanni's Table on Allure of the Seas. The Giovanni's meal was great with top notch service. We wore our Tuxes! much better than our meal at Jamie's Italian on the Navigator in 2023.
  3. CHEESE!!! usually just a hunk or slice, maybe with salami or pepperoni. Other times, I'll dress it up slightly like making a simplified Kase mit musik or cheese with music. I'll slice whatever cheese I'm eating and drizzle generously with balsamic vinegar and hit it with slat and pepper. It's a German recipe that usually includes raw onion, caraway and maybe mustard. If I make during the day, I'll add all that but not at night. on the ship, it's usually pizza.
  4. though I have never worn a kilt on a cruise, Every time I have worn one I was asked if I was regimental... I usually smiled and said "a gentlemen never tells."
  5. I agree. Usually when my DH and I wear ours, we see less than a half dozen at the most. We still wear wear ours on about half of our cruises and a suit and tie the other half...only see a dozen or two of those either these days. We dress for ourselves...We're a dying breed.
  6. I was planning to pull the trigger around the end of 2020. Around November, I decided I better see what the economy would do. Thank God, I held on. I did go part time last year but wanted to keep my foot in the door. I am 57 and now I will wait again until November 2024 to see what happens. Hopefully January will be the end of the line and DH and I will be able to travel as much as we had planned.
  7. This to me is the most important part. Respect! I love that you have tried...
  8. I have to agree on RC's soups. they always were good, both hot and cold, and have gone downhill with the rest of their food. I do feel maybe they have decline slightly less than the rest of their food. I say their food on average has dropped 3-4 points whereas maybe the soups have only dropped 2-3 points. And they were mostly served hot or decently warm unlike the rest of the food. Generally though, I prefer eating and making hot soups.
  9. There is such a variety of meatloaf recipes, some with very little flavor, some with a lot of onion and garlic, some with brown gravy, many with ketchup or bbq sauce (my least favorite) some with different meat like a combo with pork and/or veal. however, I know what you mean with texture. I feel the same way about most seafood. Bolognese!?! now you're talkin my language!
  10. I have nothing against it. It sound like I might like it. I was just saying I never heard of it. I forgot to ask Mom if she has.
  11. I used to go on a lot of galley tours, now it seems like they always charge fore them.
  12. I'm cool with that. Everybody else can come up with a name they're comfortable with personally or in groups. It's brilliant.....so it will never catch on...sigh
  13. I'm with ya. When someone posted 2S earlier, I had to look it up. I had heard of two spirit but never seen it in the mix.
  14. Baltimore area. I asked my DH and he's never heard of it either. Is it regional? I googled it and found some references. I found some for pepper jelly and cream cheese on crackers which I have heard of and tried and liked.
  15. I've never been a fan of the FOD moniker but I dislike the alphabet soup even more. As a few others have mentioned, it seems to engender a feeling of activism. When I'm on a cruise, I'm on on vacation and want to relax and stay away from politics. We don't make much of an an effort to go to the gatherings these days. I've never had a memorable incident with a straight person on a cruise but can remember a few with my FOD peers that were quite unfriendly/rude if they heard a single conservative idea espoused or anything they didn't agree with. My DH and I are Boomer and GenX and seem to get on well with people our age whether they are gay or straight. I have found that if I am talking with someone of our generations that have differing opinions, all sides have the grace to change the subject while sometimes the younger crowd are more fond of pushing the envelope. We're sailing next on HAL so we're looking forward to seeing how that goes. Cheers to all!
  16. I'm not even sure RC makes there own bread in the MDR any more. It's not the same I did get good bread in Chops and Giovanni's.
  17. Never heard of cream cheese and jelly but would try it. PB and J is okay My Mom just mentioned recent that she eats PB and honey sandwiches which I never heard her her mention or heard from anyone else. Jelly is made from fruit juices Jam is made from fruit, smashed preserves is made with larger chunks of fruit. Mom used to can all three growing up.
  18. Growing up my Mom was a great cook with rustic entrees like fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast, etc. but used a lot of canned veggies that I hated; like canned spinach or asparagus but I like fresh asparagus and spinach now. In general I like more veggies now than as a child, which I think is very common. Also I didn't eat Mayo until my mid twenties because I thought I hated it. Mom used Miracle whip instead and I hated it. once I taste real Mayo, I loved it
  19. pre-diabetes it was sweet rum drinks like pina coladas or daiquiris. now it's trying to find a bartender to make a good bloody mary.
  20. I've never been much on coffee and only recently gotten into tea but love cocktails. We've hosted maybe a half dozen cocktail parties over the past decade and gone to others. Some may have focused more on the appetizers vs the drinks but they definitely weren't dinner parties. probably another dozen or two times just having the neighbors over for drinks alone.
  21. except for making it once myself about 10 years ago, It's probably been 40 years for me.
  22. I totally agree and that is the long term plan. We're trying HAL again this July and maybe it will be marginally better but plan to try Seabourn and Oceania soon.
