  1. We were booked on one of the Millie cruises that has been cancelled. We were given plenty of warning as cruise isn't until April. We received a letter that stated we would receive full refund (including air if we booked thru X which we did) as well as 25% FCC. Not sure what to expect re air as it was non-refundable (Air Canada) but was booked with X. This has never happened to us before so not sure what to expect. Earlier this week a partial refund was issued to my credit card. It is about 60% of total paid, or about 75% of just the cruise cost. I've heard that refunds can come in dribs and drabs so haven't reached out and asked yet. I booked through a TA and have heard that all refunds are processed by the TA? Is that correct? We have not seen the FCC yet, although I have been told by X I can retroactively apply it to the new cruise I booked once I get it(this one I booked directly). I know both X and TAs are very busy with all the cancellations so I'd rather not reach out unless this isn't typical. FWIW I did speak to both X and TA last week as my cancelled Japan cruise was mysteriously replaced with a 5 night Baja cruise and I was getting emails about making payment on it. X couldn't help at all as the reservation # was tied to Japan cruise which was booked with TA. TA spoke to X and I was told not to worry would sort itself out. Would be interested to know if this is typical of refund process, and I just need to be a bit more patient.
  2. We did Santorini without using the cable car, however it involved taking a Celebrity excursion. We were tendered to a separate location for the excursion, then after the excursion there was a bus that brought us back to the tender. I believe that only the cruise lines can use this separate location for tendering which allows you to avoid the cable cars and donkeys, so not sure if you will be able to find a private tour. I've only been to Santorini once and it was with Celebrity. Hopefully someone with more experience in this port can provide more info.
  3. We stayed at Hotel Ala for 4 nights post cruise. Great location can either get there by water taxi right to back door of hotel, or take vaparetto which is about 1 min walk to hotel. Hotel was lovely, breakfast included, walking distance to St. Marks, and very convenient to vaparetto and troghetto.
  4. We were scheduled to be on Millie cruise to Japan in April which was cancelled. Because of how bad the virus is in Asia, we were more relieved than disappointed. As soon as we got the news I started looking for a replacement cruise. We are now booked to go to Hawaii in April ๐Ÿ™‚ There are always risks when you travel however the risks are small and the benefits are priceless ๐Ÿ™‚
  5. We will be Elite for the first time on our upcoming Hawaii cruise in April. We booked Aqua and have all 4 perks. We don't usually book Aqua, but price difference was so small it made sense. I didn't know there was a breakfast so will give that a try at least once. Since we also get to eat breakfast in Blu will probably do that most days but nice to have another option ๐Ÿ™‚ Laundry we will take advantage of for sure ๐Ÿ™‚ We do have 2 tender ports but booked X excursions, so not sure if we will need to take advantage of this. Also will try and drag DH to at least one of the CC HH events...sounds like a great way to meet new people!!
  6. Nice! We are in Aylmer, but worked in Ottawa for all our working lives. I am recently retired and no longer have to fight bridge traffic!!
  7. I just tried switching to the US site, as well as using an incognito browser and no luck ๐Ÿ˜ž I ended up making my own word document of the excursions I was interested in so I could see them all together. Thanks for the welcome ๐Ÿ™‚ Foreemco you are on the Hawaii cruise?
  8. Has anyone else experienced issues in downloading a brochure? When I try I get an error message saying 401 not found. I find it helpful to be able to see all shore excursions at a glance. Perhaps this has been discontinued?
  9. We have gone ahead and booked Aqua. Thanks all for the input. DH is more of a burger and fries kind of guy hence my questions on eating in MDR vs Blu on some nights. I prefer to avoid the buffet at dinner. We strayed away from X and did a NCL cruise last month. We really enjoyed O'Sheehans which is an Irish pub/road house type restaurant with no upcharge. DH would be a happy camper if X had something similar. However, the food itself on NCL isn't as good as X.
  10. Thanks all, this is helpful. I've put a hold on an Aqua cabin. Waiting to hear back from our TA re our 25% FCC we are to get as a result of cancelled Millie cruise. I am hoping we can use it to book this cruise. Not sure how long you have to wait to get the FCC. We will also be getting a full refund for our Millie cruise and have asked TA to find out what happens to the OBC we were to have as a result of it being an onboard booking. Hopefully we get answers soon so we can complete the booking. I am sure TAs are all extremely busy right now with so many cancellations. If anyone has experience with how all of this works I would welcome your input. For info, I did get a call from X this morning re the booking I have on hold, and once I mentioned I was waiting to hear back from TA he said yes best to deal with TA on this.
  11. We are looking at booking a Hawaii cruise and considering Aqua so that we can take advantage of the Persian Gardens as there are a number of sea days. Not a big difference in price - see screen shot. We have only done Aqua once on a 5 night cruise and DH wasn't that fond of Blu. Is it possible to eat in MDR if we want to? Is the Blu menu put out in advance so we (meaning DH ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) can decide if anything strikes his fancy, and if not we can just eat in MDR? Would another option be stick with veranda or concierge class and buy a pass to Persian Gardens? Does anyone know how much that is? This is kind of last minute (by our standards)....we were scheduled on Apr 10 Millie to Japan which has just been cancelled, so looking for a replacement cruise.
  12. I was booked on Apr 10 Millie. Below is letter I received a few hours ago. While I was expecting this might happen, I was hoping for an alternative itinerary rather than outright cancellation. I am surprised we are not being told what the Millie itinerary will be. I doubt they will be no sailings until the Alaska season starts in mid-May.   13. Me too!! I have never found a ship hair dryer that works for me. For Christmas I got a Sephora travel hair dryer. It is so tiny and light weight that I was skeptical....but it does a great job and bonus it is dual voltage. It is under $50. I did a lot of research on-line re travel hair dryers and this one was highly rated - I can see why.
  14. One a recent HAL cruise, they serve you in the buffet vs you serving yourself. I think this is a good way to reduce risk and the "grossness" factor of not know who may have touched what.
  15. We are on Millie sailing of April 10th. I've posted the travel alert on our roll call for info. Itinerary is strictly Japan with one port in South Korea. The sailing before ours has some ports in China. Too soon to know if any impact. At this point just taking a wait and see approach and hoping for the best. I feel for all those impacted and I think Celebrity is doing what they can given the ever changing nature of this outbreak.
