  1. DD had scarlet fever, after strep throat when she was 20. About 20 years ago. GP hadn't seen a case in years. Thankfully she responded quickly to antibiotics. I hope Coco does too.
  2. Basilica Cistern in Istanbul is interesting. Close to other attractions. Seen in the movie Inferno.
  3. They picked a good day to get married. It will be our 50th anniversary.
  4. We spent a week in Pahia. Waitangi is very close, and passengers are tendered in near it. Very interesting to visit the Treaty House there. Russell is a short ferry ride from Pahia. Both Russell and Pahia had craft shows when the ships called there. Lovely crafts, many wooden items made of kauri wood. We were supposed to visit again on a cruise, but due to azipod issues, we missed Pahia and Auckland. We recently had a sick 4 year old DGS with us for over a week, when he couldn't go to school. Terrible cold that played havoc with his asthma. And of course, he shared the cold. We have both been miserable for over a week, but antibiotics are finally kicking in. DD made us a big pot of Chicken Tortilla Soup, and we ate it for several meals. She makes it in the Instant Pot, with the chicken still frozen. Quick, easy and delicious.
  5. Any idea when you can book the complimentary dinners. So far the website says it is unavailable for booking. Cruising in May. Thanks
  6. I've had the same issues and so has a friend I am cruising with. Very frustrating.
  7. I am in Canada. Submitted the passport info thru a Service Canada location. Expected date of arrival was 4-5 weeks. Passport arrived in 6 days. With no special processing fees. Amazing.
  8. Good morning! Thank you to all who keep the Daily up and running. Your efforts are appreciated. Prayers are sent to all who are experiencing medical issues. Congrats to all who are celebrating. And thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for DH. The meds took a long time to kick in, but he has now recovered from pneumonia. @marshhawkI hope that credit card shows up soon so you can get on with your day. My favourite place in Rome is the Pantheon. Enjoy. I am glad you made the decision to use limos. It is hard to get around with luggage, and the train to Civitavecchia is a struggle with luggage. Not to be a fear monger, but please be careful in Rome. I speak from experience. DH had his backpack stolen at the train station, along with his passport. So just be aware of your surroundings. And most of all, have a WONDERFUL time.
  9. @JazzyVHappy Birthday! Thank you for all the work you do putting together the lists.
  10. VOV again? It is an amazing cruise.
  11. Last night we greeted the Police Memorial Ride to Remember, to our city for their overnight stop. They are riding (bicycles) from the Ontario Police College near London, to Ottawa, a distance of 400 miles. This is to remember their fallen comrades. Tomorrow they will attend the National Memorial Service on Parliament Hill, where 11 names will be added to the Memorial Wall. Sadly, there is already a name for next year, as an RCMP member was killed yesterday in BC. I am proud my son is participating in this ride. He is honouring a friend's wife, both RCMP officers. She did not die in the line of duty, but passed away from brain cancer, 37 years old, with 2 young boys. We usually attend the Memorial, but DH is recovering from pneumonia so we will watch the Live Stream.
  12. @smitty34877 I am sorry to hear of Lou's passing. Cherish your memories, to hold him close.
  13. @Heartgrovevisiting Kirkwall in May. Hope you post some pictures.
  14. My daughter recently had laser surgery and couldn't read or watch tv. She listened to audio books from the library and signed up for free trials from some sites.
  15. I had never heard a call for blood before, but on the GSA this year, it happened. I was amazed by the number of people who immediately left the showroom to answer the call.
  16. Always ask for an extension cord, and always get a power strip. It is NOT long enough on the Volendam. DH always carries an extension cord in the CPAP case.
  17. When she last posted here, she said she was having some health issues. I hope she is doing okay. We met on the GSA earlier this year.
  18. Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. It was a busy day, and did include lunch at DD's . I have finally managed to catch up with some of the days. Yesterday we drove to Ellsworth, Maine, near Bar Harbor. The drive we thought would take 8 hours, took 12, for a variety of reasons. But we made it. Today was spent at Winter Harbor Lobster Fest. Lobster for lunch. It was very good. Although I don't post often, I do follow the Daily. My thoughts and prayers are with all who have health issues, and those suffering loss. And congratulations to those celebrating. Thank you to all who make the Daily happen. Your work here is appreciated.
  19. Thank you for the birthday wishes. But my birthday is the 10th. Today is youngest DGS birthday. Big 4 year old.
  20. Our 2 DS had dogs that were trained to ring a bell beside the door when they wanted out. Worked great, because if you couldn't see them, you could hear them. They were bear bells mounted on a hook.
  21. @ger_77Totally agree with the cherry juice suggestion. DH did drink this, but now takes a cherry supplement every day. Hasn't had a flare up in years. The supplement is easier to travel with. It can be found in health food stores. Brand name of Cherry Rich, Super Strength Cherry Concentrate 36:1, or NOW brand. I have an Instant Pot brand air fryer. It has been fine. DD and DIL both have Ninja brands. DT201C 10 in 1. DD can cook a full dinner for 4 in it. Meat, potatoes and a vegie. Ninja Foodie 8 in 1 is similar but only has 1 tray. DS is visiting Saskatoon, looking after her DD's cat and dog while she is at bicycle races in Glasgow. They really enjoy their visits to your city.
  22. @Ichiban NekkoIndiana Jones was good. Go and see it.
  23. @dfish So glad to hear there was no blockage. This happened to my daughter in 2020, and the drain was completely blocked with tree roots. Thank goodness her insurance broker had them put on extra coverage that covered this. $15,000. The good part of this......it was during the beginning of the pandemic when everyone was locked down, and they had to move in with us. And I got to hold her 2 little boys!
