  1. Right you're, Mark. @h20skibum Just reading #6 on VirgiL series. In my defense - I'm down with a nasty flu (vaccinated to boot) for more than a week. Got it from DH, who had a light "version", since he didn't bother to get vaccinated.... Not fair, not fair at all 😢
  2. Glad you liked it. Sandford is a very good writer. I've finished all the "Prey" series, and started with his "side-kick" -- Virgin Flowers. Enjoying it very much. OTOH, I was a fan of J.K. Rowling "alter ego" Robert Galbraith series. The last 2 ones were awful. First time I've found myself skipping pages and pages.
  3. May 2024 or May 2025? Argentina Residenza e m a i l . They're very responsive. info at argentinaresidenza dot com Might shoot them an email, asking when they'll open for bookings. They fill up quickly. Ask for a room in the Main Building, that's where a very copious b'fast is served.
  4. You'd like to be near the Pantheon. It's the "ground zero" for walking around. This hotel is widely used by myself and many other cruisers and its location is spot on, with reasonable rates, for Rome, that is. I only book on the official site for free cancellation. https://www.argentinastylehotel.com/en/
  5. Rome it is. If you have a long day in Athens, you can book ahead a visit to Acropolis. We took a taxi from the pier and "beat" the crowds. The earlier, the better. Skip the line. Here is the official website. It's kind of clunky, but it works. https://etickets.tap.gr/webengines/tap_b2c/english/tap.exe?PM=P1 The region is ATTICA The site is ACROPOLIS AND SLOPES Pick the date Pick a time. The time is for statistical purposes only, but the ticket gives you the right to enter without waiting in line whenever you show up that day. Pick the number of persons. Pick "single use" or "combined" which gives you access to other sites. Checkout. For Rome, there are lots of companies offering transfers/shared shuttles from pier to hotels in Rome. I can recommend you one, should you decide. Also an excellent located hotel right in the middle of "everything", the same.
  6. + 1 every word, Pat. @1ANGELCAT, @grapau27 @BonTexasNY Bonnie, Glad you're "after", and so far -- so good. Let it continue like this 👍
  7. MHO. I strongly recommend taking the ferry trip through RC. I know that's much more expensive, but this is one occasion that the peace of mind is worth the difference. We've been there several times, and sometimes the conditions of the sea change, the ferry companies cancel the return trip or change the hours.
  8. @h20skibum Mark, I've shown it to my "resident" artist 😉 He was impressed and said that: "it is very nice, she's very talented" 👍
  9. Andrew, @A&L_Ont He'll be back on Tuesday 😎. BTW, he's eagerly awaiting your final thoughts re: Oasis 😉
  10. Arzeena, just my 2 cents. We also don't need the beverage pkg and wifi, but with the group rates and the refundable deposit, you might want to "reconsider", since, sometimes, the savings of group rates are so considerable, that you actually get those two almost free. We're "elite" on Celebrity and can get some drinks free between 5-7. We always use the perk for mineral & sparkling water. But, with the beverage pkg we didn't need to wait for this "window of opportunity" (sometimes we were late from an excursion and missed the "window" altogether). Beside, DH likes a cappuccino (or two) and even an occasional glass of wine for dinner...
  11. @derorim Joy, pls. see my reply below 😎 @Arzeena Did you check with our usual Ken? There is an option of "cruise only" on Celebrity. @bobmacliberty Bob, pls. see my reply below 😎 We really do mind the long walk, that's why we prefer to be near the elevators/stairs. We've been twice on Edge class. Both cabins were IV Concierge category(C1) - on Beyond #12210 (which will be the same on Ascent @derorim) and on Edge (#12196). I highly recommend this cabin for the proximity to the "Ocean View" (Celebrity's equivalent of WJ) and to the pool deck, while being very quiet (it is located under the ladies' 00 and doesn't get much traffic, for sure after the buffet is closed). We were surprised to like the IV for the additional space provided, and being able to see the views from the room, since there is glass from the bottom. Even more, enjoyed reading in bed and seeing the sea go by. Worth giving it a try, and more importantly, to be with friends who share the cruising passion. Our usual Ken has some amazing group rates with a refundable deposit.
  12. Understood. In our neck of the woods, the "turnover" day is "fixed"... 21st of June, Sept. Dec. and March....😕
  13. @Ozark_Kid John, thank you so much for the b'day wishes, especially those of adorable Kenzie. So much pleasure to get one from a beautiful young lady, as opposed to our 2 "macho" grandsons....😉 Also, heartfelt thanks for the wonderful wishes from so many of you -- Judy @NHProud, Graham @grapau27, Debbie @Sunshine3601, Jennifer @jmh2006, Greg @Sea Dog, OB @Ocean Boy, Marietta @DaniDanielle, @Vibe, Marian @helen haywood, Mary @MJSailors, Jane @firefly333, Karen @Keksie, Joe & Amelia @cruisingpeople, Mark @SteelCityCruiser10, Andrew @A&L_Ont, Sue @sgmn, Mark @h20skibum, George @George C, Bob @bobmacliberty, Sue @Lionesss, Bonnie @BonTexasNY, Deb @Momof3gurlz, Arzeena @Arzeena, @HBE4, Helen @FromSea2ShiningSea, @reallyitsmema, Dorothy @#55worktoplay, Lenny @lenquixote66, Sue @CrzLvr2 and @aussielozzie18. DH cooked a nice dinner 2 days before my b'day, to celebrate also our eldest son's (Pi b'day😉). Black (squid) pasta with shrimps... For my actual b'day, we went to a food stand for my favorite shawarma.... we were lucky to even find a table. It was delicious, huge portions, we took doggy bag home. That's on the main street in our city, looks like the eighties, feels the same.
