Read mixed reviews of both.
If you had your choice, and only had time for one, which one would you chose (and why)?
Thanks! 😀

CruiserBruce I looked through many pages of transportation here and didn't find the answer to my specific request. That's why I posted. If you could direct me to the post which answers what I would like to know, i.e. do taxis line up outside? the cost? or if you have the answer, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks Biker19 and molsonschooner. Never got anything (that I remember) for 70 points. What would that have been?

On our AOS cruise this past Summer, we came back to our cabin to find a (very) heavy glass paperweight. It is laser etched with the RCI logo and a rendering of the AOS. We're not sure why we received it ... upgrade in status??? We are and have been Diamond for quite some time. Has anyone else received this?

We will be returning into Port of Miami and need to know what transportation options there are to get to FLL? Specifically, taxis? If so, approximate cost for 2 with luggage? Do they line up for customers like at the airport? Flight doesn't leave until 1pm, so no rush. Thanks!

Within 24 hours of sending an inquiry to Divi Resorts Guest Relations, here is the reply I received this morning:
"We do not charge a fee for day use at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. The beach is open to public access as well as the restaurants and water sports department. The beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent daily at the activities hut. The cost is $5.00 for each item. Only guests staying at the resort are allowed to use the pools and hot tubs.
Parking is $10 per vehicle, per day for guests not staying at the resort.
Please be sure to “check-in” with the Front Desk upon arrival at the resort."
I suspect this clears up any questions on the subject.

We rented a convertible with another couple who had been to St Barts before so they were basically in charge of our day.
First stop was my favorite: Flamands Beach. You need to watch for the sign by the side of the road, park and walk down. It was the most incredible beach! I want to go back to St Barts and stay a week on that beach! We met a honeymoon couple who told us about Hotel Baie des anges where they were staying. They said they had a restaurant that was good so we wandered down the beach and up to the restaurant and inquired about lunch. With no reservations, I wasn't sure they would seat us but they found us a table and we had the most delightful lunch on the beach! Really, it was the most wonderful lunch and it turns out this is a hidden gem of a place and other folks from our Wind Star yacht were there (they had made reservations months in advance) and they couldn't believe we had stumbled upon this gem!
From there we drove high up and stopped at an overlook that had stunning views (sorry I don't remember what it was called).
We drove a bit and stopped at Baie de St Jean Beach and had a cocktail at Eden Rock Hotel. This beach was crowded and very different from Flamands Beach but the hotel bar was fun for a drink. I think we had to pay for parking at the hotel here.
Next we drove around and ended up at the Hotel Christopher (I'm still not sure how we found it!) and spent some time talking to the bartender, having a cocktail and enjoying the peace and tranquility of the resort. The pool was so pretty (the resport was beautiful) but there is no beach here. There was a valet who we tipped to leave the car.
Our last stop of the day was at Gouverneur Beach. There was a photo shoot going on and the husbands thought that it was fun to watch (a pretty young thing modeling clothes and swimsuits). The guys went swimming and the girls hung out on the beach. There is a parking lot at this beach. By this time, it was so close to 6:00 p.m. when we had to have the car back, we raced back to the airport to drop it off and barely made it back in time! They drove us back to town where we didn't have near enough time for some shopping therapy.
We loved St Barts and hope to return again one day. Enjoy!!
Great review, albeit 1 year ago. What car rental agency did you use? Cost? Thanks.

What do you get for $40 at Divi Little Bay if you buy the pass? However, if not really necessary to buy the pass, how much do they charge to rent lounges, umbrellas?
-
I've read on various threads you cannot bring alcohol (spirits) on board. However, wine is allowed, which doesn't make too much sense. That being said, can I purchase vodka on board for consumption on board? BTW, this will be on a cruise from Bayonne, NJ to New England/Canada. TIA

Tahitianbigkahuna - It seems you are using professional photography equipment, and I cannot ever hope to get such wonderful photos as you (I'm loving them all). Although photography has been an interest of mine for a long time, now with the advent of smartphones and iphones, sadly I've given up using my SLR. I now have a Samsung S7 smartphone, and it's so easy to get pretty decent pictures with it. I'm wondering if you could suggest a good, waterproof case for my smartphone? I would like to take some underwater photos during snorkeling. Many thanks, Sande

If you have an OBC balance left over when you leave the ship, you can't use it to buy food or beverages at the IC, nor use it towards an overnight stay. That's what I meant by it not carrying over to the IC.
OK; thanks
-
No you cannot use OBC. OBC is to be used on board as the name implies.
Do you work for the cruise line or have you tried to make the post-cruise arrangement this way and failed?
-
Actually, in most instances, OBC is limited to purchases made onboard. This includes things like excursions off the ship. Thus, it may be possible to arrange once aboard. No harm in asking.
Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Yes! I feel it may be possible too. We have purchased excursions in the past and it gets billed to your on-board account. My thinking is that we can make the post-cruise arrangement this way. We shall see ;p
-
Before you leave the ship, you'll get your final bill, and at that point, the OBC's are reconciled with your ship charges. They won't carry over to the IC. If PG cruises provided your flights (rather than taking the credit and finding your own flights), then you'll leave the ship at 12 or 12:30, depending on whether or not you want the free 2 hour bus tour. You will have a hotel room between 3 and 8. You'll have free transfers back to the airport between 8 and 9 PM (depending on your flight time).
From what I've read, it's my understanding that the post-cruise day room at the IC is arranged via PG. I don't understand what you mean by "won't carry over to the IC."
-
Just as a matter of clarification. You CAN book the day room and transfer through PG even if you don’t do their air. We are flying on Hawaiian Airlines and have booked and paid PG for our post cruise day room and transfer.
Thanks for this info. However, I'm still wondering if you can pay for this option with OBC?
-
What is the itinerary for the last day? What time do you debark the ship if you purchase the day room/tour combo? Does PG take you on the bus tour directly from the dock, then drop you at the IC until it's time to go to the airport? Is it possible to use OBC to purchase the day room? TIA
-
Tagging on to this thread, could the OBC be used for post-cruise arrangement, i.e. day at the IC/transfer to airport?
-
Tahitianbigkahuna, I am in awe of your photos and informative details. We leave in just 5 more weeks and can't wait. I am on page 10 of this posting and had to jump ahead and say hello. Thanks for all the helpful hints. Now back to reading ...
-
We received a similar message last week for our cruise beginning January 27th. Not a major change, thank goodness!
-
I agree with everyone else arrange pick up in George street.
GUT2407 - I don't know where else to ask on this board, so I am trying here ... we will arrive in a few weeks on the Solstice at the OPT. Is it possible to walk with 1 large and 3 smaller bags to the Marriott Circular Quay? Or, do we need to call for Uber or taxi?
Many thanks, Sande

Thanks to those reporting on this event ... can't believe you are actually taking the time to post here! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Stay safe.

Any update on the refresh? When will this be completed?

Any update on the dry dock? Is it already underway? If so, when is the target for completion?

Booked this company a while ago for next April 2025. This sound terrific, and what we consider a reasonable price.
