  1. It’s not clear to me who is booking what, other than Cunard ships sail pretty full. I would love to see a spread sheet of the 'pure Cunarders' who are now booking with other lines. As to ‘happy ships' I have banged on how QV is such a happy ship, and others have said the same about her sister. I’m sure QM2 era would say their dignified lady is pretty happy too. Annie is too new to have a happy family. As I have said many times, the comments on this forum are but a microscopic percentage of Cunard passengers and as I’m not on any other social media, I can’t be certain, but I would imagine the percentage there is pretty low.
  2. We have been sitting in 'the gap' quite a bit this cruise and we’ve got used to it. OK there’s no view and I do need a back cushion, of which there are loads, for some of the chairs, but it’s OK. 🙂
  3. Clive Myrie has proven to be an amazing speaker and quite honestly, could have filled the theatre three times over. We decided to watch his talks later in the comfort of our cabin. I sat next to a real snuffler the other day and as our cabin is snuffle free watched with a cup of coffee. The show tonight sounds quite good too so we’ll be taking on pinch point alley on the way to the theatre. The wind today defeated us, yet again so it’s been an inside day. What with the cool Canary cruise and the predominantly windy and cold weather this cruise, we’ve not done too well with the Queen Anne weather stakes. Still smiling tho'. 🙂
  4. and if all fails, there’s the ship's laundry, which is what I went with yesterday. Couldn’t be bothered trying to guess when a machine would be empty.
  5. and not all passengers views, future and present are reflected in the views of CC board members. Myles has been onboard for quite a few weeks now. Hope it’s not all been a dreadful experience.
  6. The number of wheelchairs on the May cruise was way beyond any cruise we’ve ever been on which was reflected on disembarkation. HUGE numbers. Huge. Not nearly as many on this one. That’s not to say provisions couldn’t be improved but the May cruise was atypical as was pointed out by assistance as we embarked.
  7. I have been so impressed with my choices for dinner this cruise, I broke a habit of a lifetime and photographed a couple. I add the caveat my iPad was with me in case a whale popped up its head to say hello. No ipad, no smiling whale photo. Unfortunately, no whales so my dinners got photographed, and I did the smiling! 🙂 Enjoy your extra cakes. I love Mackintosh designs. No Baked Alaska on the menu but then I have two specials ordered for tonight so will be avoiding puds. I went to watch Queen with Adam Lambert concert filmed in Tokyo, on the Pavilion screen last night. Great way of passing 90 mins but it was a bit chilly so memo for future 'cold water' cruises, take a shawl.
  8. Getting back to the thread topic. King Crab legs. Steamed and unadulterated. What a lunch!🙂
  9. and as one is paying, it’s incumbent on the payor to be aware of guidelines which have changed…with the times!
  10. Standards haven’t dropped but the guidelines for dress have changed. That’s not dropped, that’s changed! As to 'standards' for QG, I have this lunchtime, congratulated our Head Waiter on the quality, the taste and the choices on the main menu in QG. The staff are amazing too. Will we be transferring our 25 and 26 bookings away from Our Annie? No.
  11. Not a case of being sensitive. It’s being cognisant of the fact Cunard is moving with the times to stay relevant. Those who don’t like the moves, should carry on their own style and ignore those who ‘don’t measure up' but for sure, make known their thoughts to higher ups. It might help. It might not. Captain Hudson ( what a charming, great chap) stopped to talk to us on one of his deck ambles and we discussed the fact Cunard is aware and values its heritage whilst looking to the future. We have the same attitude. What I wouldn’t let pass is a member of staff talking to me as was described in #201. The staff on Queen Anne have been superb and this incident lets all the staff down when in fact, the staff are wonderful. So please, treat this as an anomaly and not the norm but, if senior managers aren’t aware of such retorts, then nothing can be done.
  12. Even if I notice an attire I wouldn’t wear or wouldn’t let my husband 'out' in, I have no difficulty ignoring surrounding dress sense. What I wouldn’t ignore, is the attitude given in post 201 re 'respect for others culture' from a member of staff to a passenger. Totally out of order and should be actioned by senior staff. We happened to meet the Captain as he walked the decks and he stopped to talk to us (what an great, personable chap) and our conversation ran along the lines of 'how wonderful the staff on Queen Anne are'. They are and it’s sad to hear of this anomaly.
  13. I use them when washing delicate woollens in the machine. I’m probably a victim of overselling by the store which sells the products but, I’m a sucker for kerping woollens looking brand new so, I buy, I use. 🙂
  14. You can and that’s what we do, utilising both credits.
  15. Craigrlewis, you should not have to spend the time following this up, but if you do feel you want to, and I would if it were me, my suggestion is to get to speak to Callum Williams. He is the Guest Services Manager and is extremely approachable. In fact, you can’t miss him as he walks around the ship. This is not a case of the over used 'dumbing down', how I hate that phrase, it’s a case of staff training and to be fair, staff being afraid of unruly passengers. There will be those who don’t dress appropriately all the times and that won’t stop but the disruption caused by cell phone on speaker and the child is not acceptable at all and there is NO way the bar staff should have told you to respect other cultures when the ethos of the surroundings and fellow passengers weren’t being respected. If I had experienced that, my main complaint today would have been about the staff.
  16. I have an app on my iPad which takes me straight to the required registration page but if you type internet.cunard.com you will be directed to the registration page where you input the required info. Purchasing an internet plan on board To purchase an internet plan on board, connect your device to the Guest Wi-Fi, then open "internet.cunard.com" in the browser and follow the registration instructions. Once registered, you can select your preferred internet plan. Purchases will be charged to your on board account.
  17. 1. You can book a Cunard fly/ cruise but the flight will be to Cunard’s spec. or book your own flight separately or you can get Cunard to book a flight- the itinerary, class, date and timing etc of your choice but included in your Cunard booking. This is usually a more expensive option. 2. You can book passenger assist if you need assistance which is free or you can book. VIP package at most airports but it will cost you dearly 3. In our experience, getting our own flights sorted but included in our booking means we can choose our seats once the flight part of the booking is paid for. 4. Depending on routing, about 9 hrs ish 5. Yes you would need a US ESTA and it’s your responsibility to get one Edit I would get a reputable agent to guide you through the booking process
  18. Actually, there is The Plank ready for action in such circumstances. The culprit in shorts will be blindfolded and ‘encouraged' along The Plank at the point of a sharpened foil, to exit the ship and if the garment truly offends, usually at sea! If this is a real question, see #3.
  19. Not sure if it’s all QG, but ours is a Dyson which as I mentioned in May, has given me a 'try before you buy" experience. Great for a ship’s hairdryer but I’ll stick to my own at home for the price differential
  20. Outside? All day? Any part of the day? Can I add Iron Man to your endless list of Cunard attributes!😀
  21. Stark, wonderful scenery and ruddy chilly sailing out of Isafjordur
  22. I know the post Covid back to cruising 'sunshine cruises' summer '21 on QE were dictated by the time, but they sold out pretty quickly. Maybe there is a Cunard market for such. We would sign up for one. 👍
  23. and here’s the aft pool. Surprisingly on this extremely chilly day, I can get a photo with no passengers getting in the way! Ladder entry only I’m afraid.
  24. And as the town is going to limit daily visitors to 5000, hopefully our Annie will be one of the biggest ships to visit. Love this area of the world. No need to go on tour if you don’t want to. Just drink in the scenery.
  25. Interestingly, our present port Isafjordur is building their cruise dock and will be ‘limiting' number of visitors to 5000 a day, which is up from present numbers. Area is outstandingly stark and beautiful. Hopefully, by recognising potential issues, the area will remain so.
