  1. Welcome to sunny Fort Lauderdale! Slightly off topic, but does that rule apply to advance prepaid specialty dining? For instance, we prepaid a few meals at full price but should get half back for being 4*.
  2. Maker's Mark on the rocks. If they are out of ice, that's fine. To improve it, I'd make it a double.
  3. I know, but I feel better getting quality feedback from trusted sources. 😁
  4. Follow the link on the HAL site. It will tell you what you need.
  5. Comcast (Xfinity) has IVR sitting in front of the customer service center. Our DVR pooped the bed and I needed a replacement. I tried the normal approach and got nowhere. Then, I unleashed an exceptional tirade of clinical profanity. (That's where you aren't using foul language, but the medically accurate terms.) Although satisfying, the rant didn't get me through. What worked? "Cancel" and "Fraud." My HAL account is not yet subject to IVR, but I am kind of looking forward to the experience.
  6. I know that military can stack with AARP, and that you can't stack two educator or first responder OBCs. I'm not sure if you can stack educator and first responder. I'm sure it's somewhere in the T&C.
  7. 19_oct_-day5-_mdr_south_europe_2023.pdfJust checking...
  8. It was more about shorts vs sweaters, but thanks for the Dramamine advice.
  9. Any tips on what the sea day weather will be like between San Diego and Hawaii around Christmas? (Obviously not for me, but for a friend who lives nearby and is acclimated to the heat of Florida.) Thanks!
  10. I know that's a typo, but it made me smile.
  11. Apparently, the option to buy casino chips pre sailing is now gone. They removed it on the 10th of October. I hope that the casino realizes the risk of having me buy OBC and using it for play. There is a decent chance that I'll buy some random merchandise instead of losing the money in the casino.
  12. My National Days Calendar had boss's day yesterday, the 16th. Maybe one of ours is metric? 😃
  13. New bookings. Also, if both of you are educators, only one OBC can be applied to a booking.
  14. We have a short, seven day Caribbean cruise planned for the Nieuw Statendam in December. There is a steel drum group listed as entertainment. (Island Dreams is their name, if I recall. They are from Trinidad.) The 7 day trip is all that fits in with our vacation schedule this year. We prefer 10+ days, but we're still working and we'll take what we can get. Having sailed on both NCL and Royal Caribbean, we prefer HAL hands down. Yes, it's more sedate. But we've never been lacking for things to do. Sometimes just relaxing is best. But, when we need some entertainment, we can always find something we like.
  15. Apologies for the delay. Here are the steps for Chrome & Firefox. Edge & Safari and other browsers are pretty similar. Start by clicking the little Lock on the URL line of your browser. .
  16. The retreat cabanas bring in $399 per week and the corner family cababas bring in more. I suppose a steep hourly pickleball court usage fee would make up for the revenue loss. Do you think that the pickleball courts could generate $8,000 in fees per day? (The cabanas typically sell out. I used 20 cabanas x $400 x 7. The real # is higher because I left off the family cabanas, drink revenue, massage revenue, etc.) You would probably need to charge a premium because the cabanas generate revenue whether you are in port or not.
  17. Sorry. I meant to post picture but got tied up on Sunday. I'll do it after breakfast today
  18. That's a good test of your TA. They'll be reducing their commission to keep you happy.
  19. You can receive OBC if you cannot be upgraded. You do not receive OBC if you decline to take an upgrade. In our case, we booked a midship Vista Suite in category A. An upgrade to an AS (aft Vista) was available. We wanted the midship location and declined to upgrade. So, no OBC for us. The same thing can happen if you book a V category verandah and decline a "upgrade" to a spa verandah. The spa verandah is more expensive and a higher category. I would not want one because it's high up, way forward, and has a balcony that is reduced depth. On our second upcoming booking, we played the game correctly. We booked a VH (obstructed verandah) then added Club Orange. We used to our CO upgrade to move to one of the pointy Cat V's on the bump out. That's a verandah with more interior room and a somewhat larger than normal verandah. It will also give us our second Club Orange tote bag. (This will help to end the inevitable squabbling over which one of us gets to use the bag. It's a good thing we've been married for decades. I doubt a young marriage could handle the stress.)
  20. As a general rule, HAL's US based employees are in the office from 6 :00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. There are also some inbound people during the day on the weekends. I only call in during regular hours, which are 9-9 M-F for me on the east coast of the US. I realize that we live in a 24/7 world but I want results more than universal availability.
  21. It does say new bookings only The new offer is not Have It All Plus. If you have HIA+, be careful. The prepaid tips, elite beverage package, and premium wifi are pretty valuable. Don't accidentally lose them.
  22. You can filter the excursions list to show accessible only. See my screen shot below. I'll
  23. You're welcome. The suggestion to delete all your cookies and saved data messes every other site up because it dumps everything.
  24. If it makes you feel better, I did the exact same thing.
