  1. I realize this is a 100% First World Problem, but traveling as a solo and trying to decide what is the best Marriott/Bonvoy related hotel to stay at, mostly location/historic ambience. Would appreciate any information.
  2. I'm not sure where the cruiseport is but Astoria is a really nice town. I would highly recommend the Maritime Museum and if you have a car doing the Lewis and Clark sites in Washington and Oregon.
  3. Thanks, any thoughts about weather in November?
  4. I'm on this cruise and this thread is getting me excited. Not turning out to be a good time to leave work but trying to go no matter what.
  5. Wow, sobering about the Indonesian visa. I need to get on it.
  6. Thanks for this report. I'm enjoying reliving my experiences from last year.
  7. Me too. I thought that was the definition of a planetarium!
  8. thanks for the information!
  9. Are there shows about the stars or planets in the planetarium or just rock shows?
  10. I am going to be there next May as well on a business trip. When I was there about five years ago, there were a lot of good restaurants just available wandering around. But I’d be very interested in anybody’s recent recommendations on good restaurants. I’d also love the idea of a tour guide.
  11. Apologies if this is being discussed somewhere else, but it didn't turn up in my searches. Have Cunard done this BFI theme before? I'm going on this trip in any case, but I'm really curious about what this means for onboard programming. And the Cunard site doesn't have much in the way of details. Appreciate if anyone has more information!
  12. I love planetariums (a?) so I’m excited to learn about this.
  13. Thanks super helpful. I just planned this trip with a friend for next March and was wondering what to plan on. Sounds like layers and things I can rewear.
  14. Is the film one new? I’m interested to know more about what it’s like in practice.
  15. Yes, I tried pricing 2 cruises in 2026 on the West Coast of Africa, and I think the SS was about 50%. Even though they were long off they were not at the 25% level.
  16. Agreed. Looking at the usual spot for 25% supplement there are only 8 cruises! I’m really bummed I didn’t book something when there was more selection. In the past several years it has usually been more like 40 or 50.
  17. Thanks for these wonderful pictures. My trip to Mumbai and Rajasthan 25 years ago is still my most memorable
  18. I'm interested in whatever you find given my upcoming trip on the Nova. Love the reference to the Inquisition skit.
  19. I'm following this since I'm going to be on Nova this fall and hoping it will be okay.
  20. also, the weather should still be good then Portland’s 25 best patios and rooftop bars for soaking up the sun - oregonlive.com
  21. For a day trip, I really like going to the Columbia Gorge. You can take the highway on the Oregon side to Hood River or beyond, and then come back on the Washington side. Hood River is a really cute town. If you want to come the long way back, you could drive up to Timberline Lodge from Hood River and then back to Portland. Wonderful scenery. Another great day trip is Astoria - Cannon Beach. Cannon Beach is a cute town with a gorgeous beach. Astoria is more of a real town, with great history (2 nearby Lewis and Clark sites, the Astoria Column and the Maritime Museum). I really like the Cannery Pier Hotel if you want to stay overnight. Portland is known for food, coffee, beer, and wine. (and weed) EaterPDX keeps up on more of the restaurant happenings. I like the downtown cultural district with the art museum, symphony and historical society. The Chinese Garden is cool, and the Japanese Garden has been recently renovated. Walking around NW 23rd or SE Hawthorne is a good way to get a feel of more normal life, also going to an eastside restaurant. The eastside esplanade, walking from our science museum, OMSI, is lovely.
