Hi Everyone , i tried searching , but with no luck
We will be on the Grandiosa out of Rome in August 2021 ( we hope ) , We only have done Caribbean cruises before
We will be in the Yacht Club ( only way to cruise in our opinion )
What is the dress like at dinner. Formal nights we men always wear a suit and woman nice dresses
But on every other night it would be more Golf shirt a nice shorts ( again being in the Caribbean )
How will it be different on this cruise or will it ?
My wife wanted to know because on other nights she might wear nice jeans and a nice blouse with heels or something similiar
I know we will see a mix of everything probably but wanted some feedback from you guys if possible
So what usually do men and woman wear at dinner on a European cruise
Thanks in advance

First couple of cruises there are growing pains so no i would not do it.
We would do yacht club , would that change your statement ?
The ports on this cruise look really cool , but yes the one thing holding us up is its the first cruise

HI Everyone ,
Just got off Seaside a few weeks ago and loved it , thinking of taking the Mergavailla ( sp ) in March of 2019 in the Mediterranean
BUT
Just saw the Bellissima cruise on March 4th for 10 Nights , anyone have experience on taking a inaugural cruise
Is it a bad idea to take the first cruise on a new ship ? We would be coming from the US so its not like its very cheap :)
Any thoughts would be helpful
Thank you

FYI they do offer this , i just got off this Saturday , in costa maya we didnt know what to do so we went to the concierge and they had a sheet from YC only tours , one was a semi private tour to the mayan temples , it was for only 30 people no more and was a more private way to do the tour , also they will help with the shore excursion desk to try to make a " not on the paper " type of excursion , but that was harder to do, they also had where you can rent a private yacht in grand cayman , was a little pricey though , anyways talk to the concierge when you get on the ship .. so to answer , yes they do have some private excusrions , oh and it was only $20 more then the normal excursion in costa Maya to go with the YC one

Just clarification we received a free inside stateroom. Not the 30percent we went over those points. We have a tear to sail. And I was told in casino we can PAY to upgrade to yc. So it wouldn’t be a free upgrade we can pay the difference. I’ll be calling the casino number tomorrow to confirm

Be careful. I got a letter given to me for 30% off, while on a cruise and sitting at a slot machine in the casino, and then when I attempted to book it and was turned down...and I was in the Yacht Club at the time they gave me the letter!! They would not give me any explanation for their refusal to honor the discount. Make sure you get everything in writing with names attached for future proof.
Was delivered to us by the casino host at the casino with letter and certificate

We get comped but don't upgrade, but, we know people who have, and received all the benefits.
Safe sailing

Question. We got a free cruise from casino. They said we can upgrade to yacht club if we want to. Which we do. We will never sail again without yacht club or similiar. Anyways I heard if u get upgrades you don’t get experience but if you upgrade to yacht club how would you not get all the benefits. Anyone done this before can shed some light ?

The air does turn off or I should say clearly runs a lot slower if that makes sense when card is not in the slot
Just pointing out my experience
-
Just a thought on the original post, does this not conflict with the cruise lines telling people not to leave a card in the slot due to the fact that it could in some instances cause a fire!
No. I told the concierge exactly what I wanted to do and they gave me a blank card. We like the room cold and to stay cold. This is more for air then charging things etc.

The only reason I can think of for wanting there to be power in the cabin when it's unoccupied is to leave items on charge. However, this act poses a risk of fire (which is the reason why the slot system is in place) and is not permitted, so why would anyone want to do it?
Sorry to disagree. We want t on to keep room cool. And it does keep things charged if you want and our butlers have not unplugged anything

Any card will NOT work. It’s has to have the chip in the new msc cards. There is 2 switches for dnd and to make up room that you can hit. That’s why I went to concierge to ask for a second card but we couldn’t get it so they gave me a blank one. It works great

Just a FYI especially if you are in yacht club. You can go to the concierge and get a blank key that you can out in the wall so you don’t have to use your key card for lights and air and can keep air going all the time

March and April is Spring Break so there will be LOTS of kids sailing infants to teenagers. Not saying the screaming was acceptable and the child shouldn't have been removed but if you choose those months to sail expect there to be lots of kids and some whining/tantrums since no kids are perfect. That said, the child should have been removed from the dining room to not upset the other diners.
Absolutely , but there is a difference between a kid messing around here and there , and a kid screaming and a parent just sitting there , kids will be kids , but if a parent cant control them they need to be removed , especially from certain areas , like dininig room , shows , etc...
-
Im in Yacht club starting tomorrow the 10th , i will have no issue saying something straight to the parents , i know kids are unpredictable , but if it becomes a issue i have no issue then it will be come intreresting lol
They have every right to vacation , but if they are screaming and the parent isnt handling it thats the problem
I guess we will see

I just got off the divina and ship time changed to matches port time. It should be the same with the other msc ships as well. The ports are scheduled that way so if you’re in grand cayman from 8-4 it should be 8-4 on both ship and port time since they will be the same.
Hope that helps.

Sorry i am asking this , The ships i have been on always stayed on East Coast time when cruising from Florida
Anyways when we are in Grand Cayman it says from 8am to 4pm
I am thinking of booking a tour outside of MSC but when i was talking to them they told me that Grand Cayman is on CST time ( 1 hour earlier ) so we figured the 8am ship time would work
I spoke to MSC and got 2 different answers , when the ship is in Grand Cayman are we there on port time 8am to 4pm CST or Ship Time 8am to 4pm EST
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Seen conflicting answers , How many formal nights on the 7 day Seaside cruise to the Western Caribbean ?
Thank you

Just a FYI if you go to the website where the e-docs there should be a button to " email " but i am guessing they will go to your TA who booked it , Have her check her spam ?

I have been reading all the comments about the Seaside. As I read I am thinking that my standards must be pretty low. We spent Christmas 2016 on the Divina (our first MSC cruise) with the fantastica experience. We were assigned seating in one of the main dining rooms. The 4 other people assigned to our table were quite nice, one of the women spoke very little English but did try to speak to us. My husband and I have no problem talking among ourselves and we were not bothered by the language barrier. We enjoyed the food, one night we opted to eat in the sports bar having wings instead of the dining room. We were comfortable in our balcony cabin, felt we had enough room. We did have drink coupons but did not find it a hassle since I always had a pocket or bag for them.
Our second MSC cruise was on Meraviglia October 2017, on the Mediterranean. A celebration as I retired October 1. We were in the yacht club, balcony cabin again. We were treated like royalty, ate most nights in the dining room but did try the steak restaurant for a change, we chose to eat dinner one night in the English pub having fish and chips. We enjoyed the food and found we had lots of choices. Most morning we get room service as it takes me some time to get going in the mornings. I had pretty severe arthritis the last few days and I was provided with a wheelchair to use. We had the bracelets which were scanned at the bars outside of the yacht club but I did not feel it was an issue. I was more interested in the ports we were at since it was my first time to Europe.
We are booked on the Seaside march 10,2018 with fantastic experience for 2 weeks. There were no yacht club cabins available. I am looking forward to this cruise, I will eat in whatever dining room I am assigned to, we did prepay for a dinner pkg at 3 restaurants so that will be a change from the dining room. I am not a picky eater so I am sure I will find something to eat, as for the food being hot , as mentioned I just retired in October a registered nurse for 28 years, I am very much used to eating cold food and cold coffee, so I don't notice it anymore. We have been to all the ports already so will spend more time on the ship and my husband is planning to golf at one of the stops.
Yesterday we booked our 4th MSC cruise on the Meraviglia again, yacht club on the 10 night cruise from New York, October 8, 2019. I am very excited about this cruise and the Canadian ports, all ports I have not been to even though I am Canadian and live in Canada!
As I began by saying I think my standards must be pretty low, you will not hear negative comments from me about any of these .MSC cruises. After 28 years working Psychiatry I have learned to not sweat the small stuff. I am happy to be able to be able to take these cruises and will enjoy every day no matter what
Sorry for being long winded.
FYI there is a YC open on the march 10th sailing as of last night , i am on that sailing and i like to look every once in a while and just the other day there were 4 available

I don’t understand the differentiation of 2 week cruise and B2B? Was it BOGO? Why would you get less in week 2?
With MSC you can book a back to back cruise as 1 basically to make it easier , instead of having 2 booking numbers and all of that
But each 7 day cruise is still considered as such
-
Is it included for YC guests?
Yes we get it for the entire cruise , its included
Also for those on 2 week cruises , its only for the week you pay for not the 14 days , even thought you booked for 14 days it really is 2 cruises in 1.

Is there craps tables in the MSC Seaside casino? Thanks
No there isnt
-
If you look on the msc app , and go to casino it states what tables etc.. they have 128 slot machines and no craps
Typical Dress code on Grandiosa in Europe
in MSC Cruises
Posted
Thank you so much everyone , Yes we have been on 7 or so cruises
One on MSC in yacht club but it was a Caribbean cruise
We always wear suites ( men ) on formal nights regardless
I was more concerned with non formal nights. In Caribbean I would wear nice jeans and polo to dinner with dress shoes etc
I will just take some more docker type pants with me for non formal nights
Appreciate all the comments !!!
Happy Sailing everyone
