  1. We aren’t allowed to refer to it as the “British Open”

I work for the Golf Channel/NBC sports. The R&A requested that we stop calling it the British Open because that was never the actual title. We did that, we termed it something it wasn’t

    AHoy,

Can anyone tell me how much Princess is charging for euros on board?

AAA wants 19% which seems just a little high.

    Thank you in advance,

    Dave

Try your bank, they will usually have better exchange rates. Most places take credit cards so you  should only need minimal paper money.

I don't seem to be able to book a shared table on the app.  Is this added later?  There are two of us and we like to meet new people.  The Palm has the majority of open reservations for a Sep cruise.  Funny that there are not availabilites in the other two dining rooms??  Anyone have and insights? Thanks

The midship restaurants fill up quickly because of location.
There is a non reservation line you can usually join, I’m sure they can easily add you to a shared table.

We have an excursion in LeHavre that is a private tour with six other folks we met on CC. More about that when we we get closer in a couple of days. My sad news of the day: We had an excursion booked early this morning for Bannockburn and Stirling Castle to explore Scottish History and the English-Scottish wars. Unfortunately, Last night I started to feel a cold coming on, so this morning I sent my husband off since I was feeling a bit queasy from the congestion and a tender to the port would not sit well. To be safe I had a COVID test just now and it's negative (fortunately!). Paramedic came by my cabin, did the test and asked if I wanted to see the doctor. It's a cold, so...no. Still working out whether we can get the shorex refunded. If I went to see the doctor, it would be a medical reason and instant refund, but the doctor visit could be as much as the cruise--so resting up today while my DH goes on the tour. The view from my balcony, however, is quite spectacular.

I'll write up yesterday later today. If I feel better, I'll tender over and explore South Queensferry at least and do some shopping.

You can submit the visit to your travel insurance

I just looked up afternoon tea on the app and it says it has reached capacity for every single offering date on my upcoming cruise. Do they take walk ups? I haven’t cruised in 12 years and had no idea this is how experiences on the ship were booked 😭

Those are just people who are interested in attending not actual reservations. You may even see events in the Piazza reach capacity on the App, it doesn’t actually mean anything.

My offer never showed online, i was allowed to book it, but had issues on the ship with free play amount. Showed paper and the gave me extra free play. Then charged me for the extra free play because they didnt see the offer. Took 5 months to finally straighten the mess out.

It’s a mess. I stay on-top of everything. You can’t just book for face value anymore. Wrong codes or unapplied codes is  a thing, It’s on us now to keep up with all of it.

    We were

On 31 May we arrived at Heathrow two days before our cruise and had Princess transfers from LHR to the ship 2 days later.  What is shown in post #6 is what was on our Travel Summary.  We stayed at the Holiday Inn 276 Bath Road which is very close to the Terminal 3 area.  We took the Hoppa Bus from Terminal 3 to the Holiday Inn and then used the Hoppa Bus back to Terminal 3 on day of cruise. We did go back to the airport around 7:30am that day and was on the first bus to the ship.  Arrived to the ship before 10am.  The hotel was very nice.  Have always arrived 1 or 2  days early and used the Hoppa Bus to get to our hotel and back to the Terminal.

Thank You you our sharing your experience, I appreciate it.
I now feel this will be easy for us to navigate

Not sure where your hotel is located but Princess also does a transfer to Southampton from Victoria Coach Station for the same price as the LHR transfer. I know this info is current as we are going in September.

We are also IHG members and regularly use points for hotels. There is a Holiday Inn Express Victoria a few blocks from Victoria Coach Station.

Maybe that doesn't work with your plans but just thought I'd share. 😊

I appreciate all suggestions. Thank You.

I used to drive cruise transfer coaches to & from Heathrow.

Unless Princess tell you differently when you book, choose the terminal which is most convenient from your hotel, tho T3 always used to have more cruisers than Ts 2 & 4 & 5, so have more-frequent cruise buses.

Go into the Arrivals Hall, and head for the exit from the Baggage Hall & Customs - as with any international airport there'll be quite a few drivers there holding up names. Staff from Princess, or more-likely their port agents, will be there in uniforms & very clearly Princess.

BTW if you're up to it when you fly in, both Windsor (& its castle) or Hampton Court Palace are reasonably close for an interesting and not-too-energetic day.

    JB 🙂

    Thank You!

Have you considered staying the Southampton the one night prior to your cruise?  That's what we did.  We stayed at the Moxy which is a Marriot property.  We didn't use points there but our friends did and they said it was a bargain compared to what they used in London.  We spent two nights in Southampton.  Hubby and I used Aqua Cars which was 109 GBP from Heathrow to the Moxy, had to write to them for pricing and prepaid it.  They were awesome.  Our flight was delayed almost 4 hours and the driver waited.  So nice to have a "man with a sign" greet you and whisk you away when you are exhausted after a long flight.

Thanks for the suggestion. We could stay in Southampton I suppose, I just figured with the overnight flight an airport hotel would be easiest for rest. The IHG (Holiday Inn) hotel is letting us check in when we arrive in the morning.
