  1. I can’t speak to the cabin situation since we have never used an accessible one, but I will say that we have taken two cruises with my husband using a rollator walker. Both on Holland America. I felt that they were very accommodating to those with walkers, wheelchairs and scooters. After we were thru security we immediately directed to a very short line for check in for special needs only. Then the wheelchair waiting area was right beside it. Boarding wheelchairs are limited, so we waited our turn. The steward arrived with a chair and there was a couple who had their own chair and they were asked to walk with us and we all rode the elevator together and then straight onto the ship. In our case we were taken straight to our room. We found that there were many, many scooters, wheelchairs and walkers on our two Holland cruises. There was a special area reserved for wheelchairs in the main theatre. I found that the guests on Holland tend to be a little older than other cruises we have taken. On a Carnival cruise sometime ago I noticed many people pushing past wheelchairs, scooters etc to get on elevators. I never saw that happen on Holland. People were always nice and allowed us to go first when my husband was using his walker on Holland. He took a fall while I was in the spa and said many people came to help, staff and guests. A staff member helped him back to his table and doctored his elbow which was bleeding. It was a little crowded in the buffet, but the wait staff was helpful finding us a table and getting our drinks for us. Many videos on YouTube you might be interested in.
  2. My husband and I did a Boston to Montreal cruise last May. He used his rollator easily on the ship and in all ports. It folds in the middle to get through the cabin door with no problem. He also carried his plate on the seat when in the buffet. A little harder during busy times, but we managed. We did not tender to Bar Harbor as we had been there and remembered the huge ramp from the render dock to land, then uphill walk into town. All other ports were docked. We used Tours By Locals in every port. Their tours are priced by the group, so we found a gentleman on our roll call who joined us and paid 1/3 of the cost. Some tours i noticed are charged by the number of people. Well worth having a private guide with a private vehicle. These are individual guides, you pay Tours By Locals and the guide gets paid after your tour. All guides are background checked. It was pricey for just three of us, but excellent experience! I picked the tour/guide I wanted, then emailed through the website asking if their vehicle could accomidate the rollator. I also mentioned limited walking ability so the guide arranged his tour to accomodate. Hope this helps someone else.
  3. At this point I don’t really have a plan. Just starting to gather information. Maybe 2 or 3 days post cruise. We are sightseers and love historical stuff as well as local culture. Husband has limited mobility, uses a walker. We also like small tours with a guide. I have considered using Tours by Locals. Used them in Boston and enjoyed the individual vehicle and guide.
  4. Thanks all for your input! Sounds like an incredibly long trip! Maybe I will look into other attractions in Or near Montreal. Just starting my research. Does anyone have suggestions of what to see or do in Montreal?
  5. We did a lighthouse tour by boat in 2019. Many lighthouses that can only be seen by boat. Excellent tour! We booked thru Celebrity but there were people onboard who booked with the tour boat. Can’t remember the name but you can goggle it if interested.

  7. Hello, I recently booked Boston to Montreal on HAL Zaandam for May 27, 2023. I was looking at goggle maps for ideas of places to see following cruise. I noticed Niagara Falls is within 4-5 hours drive of Montreal. I was wondering if it would be feasible to make a trip and flying home from there. Has anyone done this? Any planning suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
