Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. On a lighter note, upon my return from my trip on the Saturn, I had so many euros left over, I was able to pay my hairdresser for my next cut. He was going to Italy shortly afterwards so we laughed at his being able to begin his trip with the newly acquired euros. Saved him some exchange charges!
  2. Getting ready to board Star on way to Hawaii. A while back, some people were looking for a place to stay night before departure. I chose the Doubletree and have been quite satisfied. Room was clean, snd serviceable. Another cruiser was fine with room but disappointed with dining. Too expensive for too little. I highly recommend exploring some of the other dining options, some interesting local places that are much more interesting.
  3. Is anyone currently sailing with Viking in the eastern Mediterranean near the conflict? (I know all Israeli ports have already been redirected) If you are cruising nearby, what’s it like?
  4. Thanks. That's why I was asking the question, trying to pack lighter! What kind do you have?
  5. Do Viking ships provide hiking poles/staffs for use during excursions?
  6. One idea for the Anne Frank House is, if the regular tickets are sold out for a particular day, (which they often are), try the tickets for the museum visit with the introductory program. My friend and I did this and found the program to be quite enjoyable and informative. We felt so much better prepared to visit the actual house.
  7. We suggested that Viking include a chair yoga stretching class. They responded to say they liked the idea and would include an instructor on next sailing. Has anyone seen this class being offered on board? (I've heard that the Saturn was offering one in the Wintergarten) Have you participated in one?
  8. We will be in A Coruna on May 16, 2023 (not on the Arvia) and, if we have the minimum number, are tentatively signed up for a shore excursion to Santiago de Compostela with Spain Day Tours which have been highly recommended on Cruise Critic and other traveler sites . If this interests anyone, sign up directly with Spain Day Tours . Here is the information - A Coruna Tuesday, May 16th 8:30 all day tour. Pick up at port. 79 euros/person. Tour to Santiago de Compostela. We will start the day by driving through the scenic Galician countryside towards the town of Santiago de Compostela (which means “Field of Stars”). When we reach the town of Santiago de Compostela we will begin a comprehensive guided walking tour of the old and well-preserved historic town. We will recommend a typical place for lunch and give you some time on your own to visit inside the Cathedral before we make our way back to the ship in time for departure.
